Madeleine McCann: Alipio Ribeiro’s Thinks, Clarence Mitchell Knows And A Birthday
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY: “MADDIE COPS SAYS SORRY – Police ‘too quick’ “to blame parents”
“A top policeman has sensationally admitted that making Gerry and Kate McCann suspects over their daughter Maddie’s disappearance was too ‘hasty’. Alipio Ribeiro, boss of the Portuguese department in charge of the investigation, dropped his bombshell in a radio interview”
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns spokesman: “Now that the national director of the Policia Judiciaria apparently acknowledges that they should never have been made arguidos, it follows there is no case for them to answer.”
SUNDAY EXPRESS: “POLICE ‘TOO HASTY’ OVER MCCANNS”
“As the couple bravely celebrated the third birthday of their twins, Sean and Amelie, one of Portugal’s most senior detectives admitted that making them suspects had been a “hasty” mistake”
Did Mr Alipio Ribeiro say “mistake” in his radio interview?
Says the paper: “The couple, both 39, said the official’s comments were tantamount to an admission that Portuguese detectives had bungled by centring their investigation on them.”
Says Mr Ribeiro to Portugal’s Radio Renascenca, owned by the Catholic Church:
“At this moment in time and speaking with the experience I have of Portugal’s Public Prosecution Service and the constitution of arguidos, I think there perhaps should have been another assessment before the McCanns were made official suspects.
“I don’t have any doubt about that. The national director of the Policia Judiciaria doesn’t give out orders on the constitution of arguidos but there was a certain hastiness”
Says the paper: “Last night Ribeiro was under growing pressure to stand down as national director of their country’s Policia Judiciaria”. Pressure from, whom?
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “”Police chief: We were too quick to make Gerry and Kate ‘arguidos’”
Says the Mail: “Kate and Gerry McCann’s bid to clear their names over the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine has been given a massive boost after the head of Portugal’s police admitted it had been a mistake to rush into making them official suspects”
Mr McCann says: “We need a breakthrough and this looks like it could be one. It is fantastic news. We still have a long way to go but people in Portugal need to understand what has been happening and what we have been going through. We know it will take the police a long time to accept what has been happening is wrong but it is an important step towards that”
Says the McCanns’ lawyer in Portugal, Carlos Pinto de Abreu: “Many people who may have vital information have possibly not come forward as they wrongly suspected the McCanns”
What about that huge reward, and doing the right thing? People may be deterred from coming forward for fear of being named in the media and questioned by Metodo 3, the McCann’s private investigators. But let us not speculate
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “MADDIE U-TURN - EXCLUSIVE Cops admit mistake on twins’ birthday”
“Kate and Gerry McCann threw a birthday bash for their twins yesterday - as a top cop admitted it was WRONG to name them as suspects over missing Maddie”
Well, Policia Judiciaria “boss” Alipio Ribeiro, said the police acted too hasilty. “Ribeiro last night faced calls to resign over the astonishing U-turn” – although from whom, the paper does not bother to say
Say the McCanns: “The support we have had from around the world has been amazing. It’s helped maintain our strength and hope and this has helped the search for our precious Madeleine. We believe there is a very good chance she is still alive. She deserves the love and security of her family. She needs to be back home with her mummy and daddy, brother and sister”
THE GUARDIAN: “Police chief says ‘we were too hasty’ in naming McCanns as suspects”
“In an interview to be aired on Portuguese radio today, Alípio Ribeiro, the national director of the Polícia Judiciária, will concede that police may have acted too soon in making Kate and Gerry McCann formal suspects, known in Portugal as arguidos. His comments were interpreted last night by the McCanns as a tacit admission that the police were wrong to name them as being involved in the disappearance of their four-year-old daughter”

And it’s amazing how many people believe me when I tell them he really DID invent oven chips. I told the typing pool at work and now they’re all telling all their chums as if it were an undisputed fact.
People are easily hoodwinked!

While it’s getting more quiet, let me tell you about my dear old Maman. I finally told her [apart from Slegdehammer, not much news today...] about the Bell Pottinger & pharmaceutical company theories the other day [credit to Stevo & Saturn].
Welll … better give you the short version of a half hour passionate monologue:
“It’s about money. Find the money lead. Who/what is going to be hurt most when the truth comes out? There are people risking to lose money if this comes out.”
You want to ask her questions? I may try and keep her up for another half hour

I very seldom drink white wine because it is really bad for me, though I like Alsace wine and Pouilly. It gives me some sort of rhumatism, it is bad for articulations. I love red wine, but never drink more than two glasses a day, and often much less. It isn’t the quantity that counts, it is the quality. It goes to my head very fast, and makes me feel joyful.
When a wine is very good, and flows smoothly into the throat, do you know the saying according to which it is : “Le petit Jésus en culottes de velours” “Baby Jesus with his velvet pants”? (it shocks many people abroad, but here there is nothing rude or disrispectful in saying it).Bordeaux can be like that.

What is it about you people, whinning to mods about a guy, who is only stating his opinion. For the record I agree with everything he has said, including the muppet distorting posts. I know who I would rather have at my back. Ribeiros a dead man wakking, his subs don’t like or rate him.

———————————–
Deserve or get?
No to both, I doubt that Kennedy is too thrilled at the course of events.
Multimillionaires tend to expect results, and the best that Clarrie has to show is a major aversion in the print media to putting the story on the front page.
On the whole, whilst keeping your clients out of jail has much to be said for it, PR is about convincing the world that your clients are not only not in jail but also as pure as the driven snow.
And that died the death a long time ago…

Just scrolled through and saw your post to Noseycow on the merits of Herbs and fully agree.
A little while ago I was diagnosed with a 7.6 cholesterol and given statins. After a couple of
weeks I started to have pains in my calf, thigh and upper arms..Couldn”t understand why so
looked at the leaflet and was horrified to see so many adverse symptoms, including muscular
pain. Went to the doctor and was advised to stop taking them, I told her I had started taking
Lecithin which my Local Health Shop prescribed. The Doctor said to carry on and have a
blood test in a month, this showed a 6.3 level so I am still taking the capsules.
By the way, I suspect you know a lot about natural cures and wonder if you can suggest a
relief for Flu like symptoms I”ve had for the last two months. The coughing is driving me nuts, I”m not bringing anything up and the minute I step outside it starts the cough. Iv”e
had two lots of Antibiotics, all kinds of medicine, the latest from the Health shop, Sage and
Garlic highly recommended has proved useless, so anything you can recommend would be
very welcome.
Presume you were commenting on Madeleine”s possible Autism, stunted growth etc.
Personally, to me she looks a normal healthy little girl and I can”t see any abnormal signs.

Exactly. As you know, I think you and I have always agreed that we think there’s a time inconsistency with regard to her hair growth and general growth. That tricycle photo definitely looks much older than the Xmas 2006 one. Much, much older and much, much longer hair. An enigma indeed.

580 er…not sure why you have narrowed me down to the Clarrie / Ribeiro spinning ??? I was speculating generally about the nature of various sectors of the British population in their response to this whole case and its media coverage…….it was triggered by Ian’s observations and someone [you ?] wondering how many can see through Clarrie’s spinning. Perhaps you meant only this latest spin, whereas I meant the whole thing…..

Ian 635 - I appreciate your post.
I tend now to make just one or two posts a day because dealing with Hedgeslammer is such a chore.
I am reasonably sure that his motivation is to limit debate or actually drive people away. He does not appear to be particularly gifted intellectually, so it is unlikely that he is a paid McCann troll; it must just be his own personality shining through.

Personally I think Mods and Admin would have been greatly respected if they had taken some controlling action regarding the pointless claims being made by the poster ’sledgehammer’.
He does actually post lies - for example, claiming that noseycow had been corrected by him regarding her repeating a view apparently spawned by myself and of course the famous claim that an announcement would be made on Friday at 11:30.
Of course if Anorak is happy with threads being taken over with debates about such wild claims, then no moderation was required.
Some rather good posters have left the thread as a result of such posters as sledgehammer, which is a shame.
If posters have close links with vested interests and Mods and Admin are aware, then it would be nice to be warned so we would take their posts more seriously - or ignore them if told they are not telling the truth regarding their links.

Right.
I live in the City, where the yearly bonuses usually run to 6 figures, and 7 if it’s been a good year.
That is, of course, in addition to basic salaries.
The hourly charge out rate for the McCanns lawyers is vast; ten years ago Pinochet’s legal expenses were reported to be running at £12,000 a day, with one QC charging £500 an hour.
Upgrade the fees for a decade and you will get some idea of just how far down the greasy pole Clarence is…
