Madeleine McCann: Alipio Ribeiro’s Thinks, Clarence Mitchell Knows And A Birthday
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY STAR ON SUNDAY: “MADDIE COPS SAYS SORRY – Police ‘too quick’ “to blame parents”
“A top policeman has sensationally admitted that making Gerry and Kate McCann suspects over their daughter Maddie’s disappearance was too ‘hasty’. Alipio Ribeiro, boss of the Portuguese department in charge of the investigation, dropped his bombshell in a radio interview”
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns spokesman: “Now that the national director of the Policia Judiciaria apparently acknowledges that they should never have been made arguidos, it follows there is no case for them to answer.”
SUNDAY EXPRESS: “POLICE ‘TOO HASTY’ OVER MCCANNS”
“As the couple bravely celebrated the third birthday of their twins, Sean and Amelie, one of Portugal’s most senior detectives admitted that making them suspects had been a “hasty” mistake”
Did Mr Alipio Ribeiro say “mistake” in his radio interview?
Says the paper: “The couple, both 39, said the official’s comments were tantamount to an admission that Portuguese detectives had bungled by centring their investigation on them.”
Says Mr Ribeiro to Portugal’s Radio Renascenca, owned by the Catholic Church:
“At this moment in time and speaking with the experience I have of Portugal’s Public Prosecution Service and the constitution of arguidos, I think there perhaps should have been another assessment before the McCanns were made official suspects.
“I don’t have any doubt about that. The national director of the Policia Judiciaria doesn’t give out orders on the constitution of arguidos but there was a certain hastiness”
Says the paper: “Last night Ribeiro was under growing pressure to stand down as national director of their country’s Policia Judiciaria”. Pressure from, whom?
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “”Police chief: We were too quick to make Gerry and Kate ‘arguidos’”
Says the Mail: “Kate and Gerry McCann’s bid to clear their names over the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine has been given a massive boost after the head of Portugal’s police admitted it had been a mistake to rush into making them official suspects”
Mr McCann says: “We need a breakthrough and this looks like it could be one. It is fantastic news. We still have a long way to go but people in Portugal need to understand what has been happening and what we have been going through. We know it will take the police a long time to accept what has been happening is wrong but it is an important step towards that”
Says the McCanns’ lawyer in Portugal, Carlos Pinto de Abreu: “Many people who may have vital information have possibly not come forward as they wrongly suspected the McCanns”
What about that huge reward, and doing the right thing? People may be deterred from coming forward for fear of being named in the media and questioned by Metodo 3, the McCann’s private investigators. But let us not speculate
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “MADDIE U-TURN - EXCLUSIVE Cops admit mistake on twins’ birthday”
“Kate and Gerry McCann threw a birthday bash for their twins yesterday - as a top cop admitted it was WRONG to name them as suspects over missing Maddie”
Well, Policia Judiciaria “boss” Alipio Ribeiro, said the police acted too hasilty. “Ribeiro last night faced calls to resign over the astonishing U-turn” – although from whom, the paper does not bother to say
Say the McCanns: “The support we have had from around the world has been amazing. It’s helped maintain our strength and hope and this has helped the search for our precious Madeleine. We believe there is a very good chance she is still alive. She deserves the love and security of her family. She needs to be back home with her mummy and daddy, brother and sister”
THE GUARDIAN: “Police chief says ‘we were too hasty’ in naming McCanns as suspects”
“In an interview to be aired on Portuguese radio today, Alípio Ribeiro, the national director of the Polícia Judiciária, will concede that police may have acted too soon in making Kate and Gerry McCann formal suspects, known in Portugal as arguidos. His comments were interpreted last night by the McCanns as a tacit admission that the police were wrong to name them as being involved in the disappearance of their four-year-old daughter”

this goes back to my speeding camera argument.
regardless of what the police caution says about silence, you can still remain silent and not have it held against you in court, if by speaking you would incriminate yourself, as article six of the human rights thingy has the right not to incriminate yourself.
which is why they’re dropping a lot of speeding charges where the picture doesn’t show who is driving, and the driver can’t or won’t say who was.
the paradox here is that traffic law says you must say if you were driving, and article six says that you have the right not to incriminate yourself, which you would do just by filling in the form saying you were at the wheel.
people have challenged this and had the speeding cases dropped, and i see no difference with being silent after being cautioned if the outcome was to incriminate yourself, no matter what their silly caution says.

I love infusions of a branch of thyme, prepared like tea. Thyme is known to kill germs. That’is why people marinated meat with it, in older times when there were no refrigerators.
I also prepare infusions with thyme, a few flowers of lavender, and a little bit of eucalyptus leaf. It smells lovely. Lavender is soothing, and eucalyptus helps with the breathing.

Previous health posts…
At random order [after having been away to play Uno with Maman & not having read all posts yet]:
Re Cholesterol.
Avocados are rich, yet very good for your health!
Cholesterol is a “funny” thing. For one there’s LDL and HDL and they can only make the difference in a more advanced test. I e.g. have an extreme high general cholesterol level, yet my HDL is so high that no doctor would want to medicate me. Secondly, cholesterol is made by your body: you need it. Now, one hour after you wake up, your body checks the cholesterol level. If it’s not enough [because you’re on a diet...] it starts making it. Best thing to control your cholesterol is actually to have an intake of cholesterol, e.g. an egg, BEFORE your body checks the levels. If it’s “enough” it won’t produce any anymore…
Re: constant flu-like symptoms
To loosen the mucus: take half of a pressed lemon in warm water, early morning before having anything else.
As for herbs: try eachinea purpurea [have to check the spelling; also called Purple-Hat?] on a daily basis in either tablet or liquid form.

I don’t think I made myself clear enough. When I said marshmallow, I did of course mean the herb Althaea officinalis. I am forgetting that some people don’t know anything about herbs and I hope no-one thinks I’m telling them to try sweet marshmallows, which are of course just sweet confectionary.

I thought a certain percentage are privately owned and managed by MW for letting.
Couldn”t the Ocean Club take issue with the McCann team on the adverse publicity
the Resost is getting.?
——————————————————
I’m sure they have, but I’m not sure that it has actually done much quantifiable damage to PDL.
The reality is that MW marketed the OC as completely different to their resorts; that’s the whole point.
It’s aimed at people who wanted to see a bit more of the countryside, and a little less of their fellow holiday makers, than the hermetically sealed gated compounds that are MW’s core business.
I really hope PDL doesn’t suffer any more from the McCann circus; I would think the fact that MW hasn’t pulled out would be reassuring.
After all, if MW had really thought that there was a local child abductor they would have pulled out…

Thanks for your advice. the cough is a violent fit, my breathing is raspy and the coughing
starts as soon as I go out. I only bring up “spittle”, it”s not nasal it”s definitely a chest cough.
I”ll try Marshmallow first, because I know the Doctor will not prescribe any more
Antibiotics , probably just ordinary cough mixture. The weather isn”t helping at the moment, cold and windy. Again, thanks for taking the time, I”ll let you know if the
Marshmallow works.

Mr. Ribeiro ,works for the Portuguese Govm. ,he is not a cop, he is a politico.
The dimention of this case , had dameged , this case.
I don’t believe ,the P.J. ,will ever be allowed to go to the U.K.
The only thing i trust ,is that some of the Portuguese cops ,will work on these case ,for years, until they can found what is needed to know the All truth.
Meanwille , the team will do whatever they want ,and most of the public will believe it
All of this IMHO
—————————————————-
The team is very far from doing whatever they want, and I doubt they ever will be.
Think about it; no-one has ever suggested that Madeleine could be in the British Isles, the US, parts of Canada and assorted former British colonies.
If you are going to launch a search for someone in a particular area you use the language of that area; the McCanns claim that it is the Iberian peninsula and northern Africa.
So why was Clarrie holding a ‘press conference’ to launch the one million posters in Britain, talking in English?
Why wasn’t he holding ‘press conferences’ in Iberia and north Africa, with skilled interpreters fluent in the relevant languages, to explain exactly what it was all about?
Pretend, for a moment, that this was not yet another of Clarrie’s publicity stunts and assume that he genuinely believed that the sketch was of a probable abductor of a small child with at least one accomplice in a child kidnapping gang.
He would clearly have been culpably negligent had he not immediately made this information known straight away to the authorities of the relevant countries.
And you don’t do that by holding a ‘press conference’ in England.
So why didn’t he and other members of Team McCann travel to the countries where they claim Madeleine is probably held?
Why didn’t they use skilled interpreters to talk to the people who might help to find Madeleine in their own languages?
Do you really think that the police forces in Iberia and northern Africa haven’t noticed that point?
And do you really think that those police forces have any trust in anything that Clarrie says?

736 Ian says (February 3rd, 2008 at 10:37 pm):
“I always thought it odd how Gerry was very quick to say he was the genetic father but didnt say ‘Kate and I are the genetic parents’. Something seems odd and there is more to this than Kate and Gerry alone - sure as eggs is eggs, in my opinion and apologising for the ‘accidental’ pun. All the eggs from one basket? Always risky to keep all the eggs in one basket”.
REPLY: As far as I am aware, all of these four possibilities exist under the IVF procedure:
(1) natural mother’s egg and natural father’s sperm
(2) natural mother’s egg and someone else’s sperm
(3) natural father’s sperm and someone else’s egg
(4) neither the natural mother’s egg nor the natural father’s sperm.
I am open to correction. Much of what goes on in IVF clinics is shrouded in secrecy. And as far as I am aware, this IVF treatment all happened for the McCanns (and Jane Tanner?) at a particularly secretive IVF clinic in Holland
