Madeleine McCann: A Pundit Says, Judge Eurico Reis Orders And The Sun Omits
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “Shut up: Maddie cop by judge”
Police national director Alipio Ribeiro “stunned his men” by “admitting” the decision to make “doctors” Kate and Gerry McCann suspects was “hasty”
Judge Eurico Reis said it is “not the cop’s role to publicly comment on cases under investigation. The judge raged: ‘It is his duty to SHUT UP.’”
And: “Portugal’s top prosecutor Antonio Cluny branded Ribeiro’s comment ‘extremely worrying’” – Why worrying? Because of what he said? Or because a policeman has given his personal views about an ongoing case? The Sun fails to make this clear
The McCanns spokesman tells us: “You cannot have the head of the police force openly questioning the validity of the way in which they were made suspects and then not have a review”
Can’t you? Can someone expert in Portuguese law tells us if you can or cannot…
FERGUS Shanahan: “COPS SO WRONG”
Alipis Ribero is on the radiop. Says Shanahan: “In effect, Mr Ribeiro is saying: ‘We never had any evidence agsint Kate and Gerry. We didn’t take Madeleine’s disappearance seriously… Some of our detectives thought Kate and Gerry looked dodgy. So we made them suspects and hoped something might turn up.”
The tabloids, meanwhile, look at “creepy” Robert Murat, also a suspect - you know, the one the Sun calls an “oddball“
DAILY STAR: “BLOW FOR MADDIE PARENTS”
“TORMENTED Kate and Gerry McCann are to remain official suspects over their daughter’s disappearance. They hoped to have their ‘arguido’ status lifted after Portugal’s top cop Alipio Ribeiro admitted it may have been a mistake to put them in the frame. But government legal advisers yesterday denied they were planning to clear their names”
So the personal views of a policeman are not a deciding factor in an ongoing investigation?
“The 39-year-olds may be considered suspects for as long as the investigation continues – possibly years”
Read all about it!
DAILY MIRROR: “STILL SUSPECTS – Maddy probe team in row over letting McCanns off hook”
Says Judge Eurico Reis: “This case has had more than enough media exposure”
Mr Ribeiro is on the radio…
Says “media pundit” Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa: “He killed the investigation when he said there was haste in making the McCanns arguidos in the case”
Says Antonio Cluny, who we heard from earlier in the Sun: “I don’t know if he’s right or not but this conduct of speaking about pending cases is extremely worrying”
Why did the Sun end its Mr Cluny quote short?
LIVERPOOL DAILY POST: “Madeleine McCann: Liverpool grandad hoping for a miracle”
Says Mr Healy: “Like most people I would like to think that if there is a spark of hope I have to hang on to it. They haven’t found anything yet. We have to believe a miracle can happen. I still believe she is alive and until someone tells me different I will believe”
IRISH INDEPENDENT: “Maddy’s grandad hopes for miracle”
Brian Healey says he is pleased that “Alipio Rebeiro, national director of the Policia Judiciaria, said detectives were too hasty in making the couple suspects over their daughter’s disappearance”
Says he: “I am glad he has said it, it will get things moving to reinstate the fact they’re innocent”

I am arriving in the middle of a fierce argument I realise. I wish everyone could express their opinions without hatred. None of us knows exactly what happened, and there is no need to antagonise each other in an unpleasant way. We can’t afford to, otherwise this site will end by closing, and none of us will be happy about it. It is important to debate, to comment the news, and to exchange ideas about it.
Personnally, I think it was an accident until I am told otherwise. I hope so for the little girl, as an abduction would be far far worse. The parents claim one thing, the detectives who investigate think differently. There is obviously a controversy. I am not after the parents, all I want is to know the truth, and then I want justice to deal rightly with the guilty ones, according to what wrong they did. It is not for me to decide what their fate will be.
Can’t we speak about it without challenging those who don’t think like us? Moqt of us are decent human beings, with good will and concern for the others. i don’t want to get carried away, and I want to be able to say what I think without being suspected of being a monster!

Indeed, what a brilliant idea–why not ask Tanner to draw the face she says she saw herself?
Oh, she has the other details, but…hm…..face details?

Mods and Admin.
To honour St. Valentine’s Day and as a mark of gratitude to all the hours of entertainment that Clarrie has unwittingly given us - can you ask Duncan to make all the ‘blue’ text on Anorak a soft shade of pink for 14th Feb?

If your daughter had been abducted and possibly raped and killed how would you find the time to be arrogant? I would be too busy being sad.

REPLY: Worth repeating in full, Carmen, and thanks for expressing your views so candidly and concisely, so here it goes again:
QUOTE from Carmen:
I can assure you that none of the moderators does have a bias. We all give umpteen hours of our time simply because we do believe in free speech and open debate. What confuses some people is that whilst there are many on the so called ‘anti-McCann side (although I intensely dislike that label) who are equally prepared to give up hours of their time to debate the issues and leave ‘no stone unturned’ in the attempt to answer the mystery of Madeleine’s disappearance, unfortunately there appear to be a preponderance of so called pro-McCann’s (and I have equal difficulty with that label!) who find it impossible to debate. They arrive, they abuse, they claim to dislike humour, they disrupt, and then they throw a hissy fit and leave. At times their sole aim appears to be to silence any debate. Not surprisingly, with that attitude, they tend to come into conflict with the mods more often than the calm sensible debaters. They get banned, or put into moderation, and then they scream censorship, abuse of free speech - though to my mind, that is exactly what they were trying to achieve themselves.
****The mystery to me is why other posters don’t just ignore them after the first few attempts to welcome them to the debate!****

Discount TAnner’s “sighting” of the faceless eggman? Carrying the faceless child?
You know, I believe two things about that–If you, I mean, Gerry, and Kate did kill Madeleine, whether intentionally or accidentally (or there was some unfortunate medical experiment gone awry, as willo suggests), you likely had an accomplice who helped remove the body from the apartment before Kate arrived to make the loud, aggressive pronouncement that “they” had “taken her.”
THIS is why the McCanns might have really left the door intentionally unlocked–so their accomplice (one of the Tappas 9, or someone else) could easily enter and leave. I think it possible that the McCanns may have killed Madeleine, hidden her body in the apartment, drugged the twins, and the cleaned the apartment furiously until dinner time.
matthew Oldfield reportedly checks on the children but doesn’t see Madeleine. Of course, how could he? She’s dead and hidden away, waiting for the hired man or other Tappas guy to come get her.
Your, I mean, excuse me, Gerry’s visit at 9 pm is the hired man’s signal to pick up Madeleine. The hired man is right behind Gerry the whole time….this way, if anyone sees a man going in and out of the apartment, one could just assume it’s Gerry.
As Gerry heads back to the restaurant, he sees his tennis acquaintance, Jes, across the street with the baby buggy. Gerry, fearful that Jes will see the hired man carrying madeleine’s lifeless body away, goes out of his way to cross the street and talk with Jes to distract him. At this time, Tanner has already left the table to check on her own children. As she walks down the street, she later claims to have seen a man carrying a child just up the crossroads from her.
This is the hired man who’s taking Madeleine’s lifeless body away.
One would normally hold a sleeping child close, vertically, against one’s chest and shoulder. But a dead child? You’d want to carry it as you’d carry anything dead–well away from your body, arms outstretched. Imagine the revulsion, even mixed with pity….
I think it is possible that THIS is the only thing that was not planned by the McCanns. But in the end, it worked for them because it helped support their bogus evil abductor theory. Because jane Tanner was able to tell her story, however far-fetched and lacking in detail, this made the McCanns’ story a little more believable, and thus helped their case.
Then finally, at 10pm, kate leaves the table to check on the children. The plan was for her to enter the apartment, wait a beat, and then run around screaming that Madeleine had been abducted.
This is my opinion. yessss… For now.
Did Tanner just objectively see your accomplice, I mean, Gerry’s accomplice, taking the body away?

Ah, speed reading.
Well I dont know what happened to mm, but sure as eggs are eggs, her parents have some idea. You can spout all you like, but there are people on this site who are able to make statements and then validate or explain them. Those are the posters I would rather communicate with. If thats okay with you.

But what about the blood and spinal fluid in the apartment and the smell of death on Kate and the corpse fluids in the car.
……………………………………….
Evidence was planted by a rival drugs company(who specialise in human cloning), who had had their prototype Madeleine 1 stolen while under going tests in Portugal*. It is believed the drug company has gone to great lengths to get a lead in the case, including introducing suspects to a cloned Pope and even cloning a Gerry to go undercover to find out how innocent Kate really is. They baulked at cloning Clarrie which would be totally unethical.
Note *The escape of several of the first batch of ‘Maddies’ from a lab in Morocco has beeen contained.
