Madeleine McCann: Carlos Anjos Says, Clarence Mitchell Replies And The Daily Express Is Quiet
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “Maddie cops snub”
Carlos Anjos, head of the Portuguese Police Federation, says: “There are bigger problems in the police”, than the case of Madeleine McCann
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “Mr Anjos is entitled to his opinion but it is entirely unhelpful”
This the same Carlos Anjos who once noted:
“There is no criminal investigation which can feed a news frenzy for six months, so what we have seen are both English and Portuguese journalists behaving in a scandalous and unprofessional way. Writing terrible stories in the papers, some of which have clearly affected the McCanns… now we have to say that the McCanns are partly to blame for this. Because it was something they created”
And then one of the oddest lines yet seen in a newspaper:
“Meanwhile cops have ruled out a theory the four-year-old could have been snatched by Swiss pervert Urs Hans Von Aesch. He blew his chance in august after killing a girl of five”
Anyone care to explain that comment?
DAILY STAR: “FIND MADDIE? WE’VE GOT BETTER THINGS TO DO. HEAD COP BLASTS McCANN SEARCH”
Says Mr Anjos: “There are bigger problems than the Maddie case”
Why the Star should appear shocked at this seem unclear, given the tabloid stories of paedophilia being rife in Portugal
Says Mr Anjos: “I am certain that all of my colleagues involved in the investigation are doing everything they can to discover what happened”
DAILY MIRROR: “Maddy’s ‘not our priority’”
Mr Anjos made his views known in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas
MARI Luz Cortes – Still missing. Her father has posted a £110,000 reward, The paper reports that police are “scaling down the search”
DAILY MAIL: “Maddie? We’ve got bigger problems”
Says Mr Anjos: “But with respect, there are bigger problems in the Policia Judiciaria than the Madeleine case”
DAILY EXPRESS: NO MADELEINE NEWS – Which is the biggest Madeleine McCann news of the past six months
Madeleine McCann: hype, frenzy and speculation

murat was made a suspect pretty soon after the event - the McCanns however had from May until Sept to wriggle their way into the various departments - consular and UK government, and papal !!! - How much support has the british consular department given the Mcs since their suspect status I as because not having followed every line in every newspaper, I dont know….

The british diplomats have been ordered NOT to help him when he went for help.

Its fascinating the way that people who spend all their time directly or indirectly, openly or surreptitiously, supporting the McCanns here have a basic commonality in an underlying or core of missing logic.
Almost without exception they will make utterly nonsensical statements which leave others with their mouths hanging open in disbelief or driven to frustrated fury!
coolandcalm is a classsic example, Daisy and Maria also, Innocent Bystander another. I dont think its ‘put on’ - its really seems to be an intrinsic part of their make up.
I wonder if it is a root cause of ‘blind faith’?

Even if he has been refused help he must be rather happy retrospectively to have nothing to do with brit consular help and the whole lot.Its the best that has happened to him, really….

February 8th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Julie…. Yes i know!!! I know what I meant to say even it came out like crap!
Just meant that if he is officially Portugese in Portugal then I can’t see he is entitled or needs Brit consular assistance??
Anyway, when all my docs / money / passport etc were nicked in Spain then the Consul was as much use as a chocolate teapot so maybe Murat was better off!!!
Enough now…. I have to disconnect and work!
Shows its a slow news day when we’re back on something thats nine months old!

Even if he had felt the need,he has been rebuffed so he turned to a local lwayer and did bloody right.
He has kept well out of the way with dignity and this is the best that could happen to him….dont you think?

Well Ok all of you - MAYBE Murat IS entitled to British Consulate Support - BUT he had to ask for it - and DID HE? probably not because he probably felt that he had nothing to hide and would not be convicted of any crime. On the other hand - the first thing the McManics do is run around like headless chickens (aledgedly!!) and call sky news, gordon brown, uncle tom cobbly the british consulate and anyone else who would be distraction from them.

So……….. if Murat’s Portugese neighbour was also questioned and made an Arguido, would he be entitled to help from the British Consulate? Nope.
