Carlos Anjos, head of the Portuguese Police Federation, says: “There are bigger problems in the police”, than the case of Madeleine McCann
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “Mr Anjos is entitled to his opinion but it is entirely unhelpful”
This the same Carlos Anjos who once noted:
“There is no criminal investigation which can feed a news frenzy for six months, so what we have seen are both English and Portuguese journalists behaving in a scandalous and unprofessional way. Writing terrible stories in the papers, some of which have clearly affected the McCanns… now we have to say that the McCanns are partly to blame for this. Because it was something they created”
And then one of the oddest lines yet seen in a newspaper:
“Meanwhile cops have ruled out a theory the four-year-old could have been snatched by Swiss pervert Urs Hans Von Aesch. He blew his chance in august after killing a girl of five”
Anyone care to explain that comment?

Why the Star should appear shocked at this seem unclear, given the tabloid stories of paedophilia being rife in Portugal
Says Mr Anjos: “I am certain that all of my colleagues involved in the investigation are doing everything they can to discover what happened”
DAILY MIRROR: “Maddy’s ‘not our priority’”
Mr Anjos made his views known in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas

Maybe someone else gave you an explanation about Doppler. Maybe not the good one.
Doppler was an Austrian who discovered that the frequency of a sound changes when the person who perceives it is moving and maybe the source is moving too, I am not quite sure. Anyway, the phenomena is called in French “effet Doppler”, ans is used in astronomy to measure the speed of stars and galaxies. It is also used in medecine to study the narrowing of something related to the heart.

If that’s your recollection you are sadly deluded.
That individual initiated EVERY argument he had - that was his reason for being here.
I will admit that, in time, his reputation went before him and his posts were generally received with derision by most people.
You and Annie seem to think I should have just ignored it, but his behaviour was stopping my enjoyment of the board. It became impossible to post anything at all without it being automatically contadicted by this individual. I asked him several times to retract his allegations and he failed to do so, leaving me no option to turn to M&A for assistance. M&A DID NOT take any action against this poster as a result of my complaint - his exclusion was gained through his own pigheadedness in a later exchange with M&A.
As I’ve said before, I am 103% positive you would have reacted in a similar manner, had the bile been directed at you.

I must have missed Stevo’s ideas on this. My own thinking was that Bell Pottinger was just arranging holidays for people the BP clients want to nurture. Thus, there could be an AstraZeneca “treat” for doctors. I guess it is always wise to treat key media people nicely, because good relations with them is always essential. I had imagined BP could be juggling several clients in this kind of holiday package, but I did not have any idea about what a “subject of the gathering” could be. Was there some kind of theme? God forbid it was child welfare!
From the Mark Warner PR perspective, a worst-case scenario might be to have had some of these guests being involved in regular paedophile activities at their resort(s). That could affect business at all Mark Warner resorts, whereas an abduction or accidental killing would only have a temporary effect on the one resort, I should think. Therefore Team McCann’s relentless insistence on a paedophile has always seemed bizarre to me. Do they know that the PJ know something about this, and therefore make it a part of their fabrications? Why would they not steer clear of this subject, which has created all kinds of friction, tension and bad feelings, and which would seem to be the worst emphasis to make from Mark Warner’s perspective?
True, Team McCann mitigates this by with constant assertions that the “paedophile ring” is foreign, and does not involve British people. But I think they are flirting with danger, as many people realize that most cases of paedophilia involve known people, not unknown people. Maybe this is why Alex Woolfall tried to temper Kate’s instant realization that this was a predator abduction, by saying that this realization was not instant, but only gradual.
Alex Woolfall seemed to want no part of such an unrealilsic and unbelievable fabrication. If so, this perhaps points to another force behind the scenes, possibly even more powerful than Bell Pottinger. BP are advisors, consultants and executors — but not the decision-makers. On the other side you have Clarence Mitchell, Brian Kennedy, and Metodo3 — executors of policy, but again not decision-makers. Certainly Gerry McCann is not calling the shots. So who is it, then?
The public is being urged by Team McCann to look for scruffy, dirty predators on pig farms, but the PJ would almost certainly be looking into the possibility that the “paedophile intruder” was a guest at the resort, possibly an acquaintance of the McCanns. I will stress that even having speculated this far, there might be no proof that the McCanns knew about this man’s predator tendencies, even if they had allowed him to watch over Madeleine.

Looks like I’m going to be posting this every day!
The poster who is no longer with us would target a couple of other posters at a time, flatly contradict everything they posted (no matter what, and without cause), and subject these posters to vile personal insults, including, among others, liar. The idea was to keep these posters at least off-topic, if not actually drive them off the board.
It may not be important to you if someone calls you a liar, maybe you are one, but I most certainly am not, and I will not tolerate being called one.
I also do not think it is in any way wrong to protest at such mindless name-calling.
