Madeleine McCann: Carlos Anjos Says, Clarence Mitchell Replies And The Daily Express Is Quiet

Carlos Anjos, head of the Portuguese Police Federation, says: “There are bigger problems in the police”, than the case of Madeleine McCann
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “Mr Anjos is entitled to his opinion but it is entirely unhelpful”
This the same Carlos Anjos who once noted:
“There is no criminal investigation which can feed a news frenzy for six months, so what we have seen are both English and Portuguese journalists behaving in a scandalous and unprofessional way. Writing terrible stories in the papers, some of which have clearly affected the McCanns… now we have to say that the McCanns are partly to blame for this. Because it was something they created”
And then one of the oddest lines yet seen in a newspaper:
“Meanwhile cops have ruled out a theory the four-year-old could have been snatched by Swiss pervert Urs Hans Von Aesch. He blew his chance in august after killing a girl of five”
Anyone care to explain that comment?
DAILY STAR: “FIND MADDIE? WE’VE GOT BETTER THINGS TO DO. HEAD COP BLASTS McCANN SEARCH”
Says Mr Anjos: “There are bigger problems than the Maddie case”
Why the Star should appear shocked at this seem unclear, given the tabloid stories of paedophilia being rife in Portugal
Says Mr Anjos: “I am certain that all of my colleagues involved in the investigation are doing everything they can to discover what happened”
DAILY MIRROR: “Maddy’s ‘not our priority’”
Mr Anjos made his views known in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas
MARI Luz Cortes – Still missing. Her father has posted a £110,000 reward, The paper reports that police are “scaling down the search”
DAILY MAIL: “Maddie? We’ve got bigger problems”
Says Mr Anjos: “But with respect, there are bigger problems in the Policia Judiciaria than the Madeleine case”

I have missed you several times. We are both assiduous with Anorak, but at different times, and I decided to go to bed a bit earlier recently. I miss your warm posts.
We will all meet when the case is over. Until then, we’ll have to be patient, as the Portuguese police put it.

Generic brief means industry wide (multiple client, association,subject) activity. Could easily have been a collective of pharmaceutical companies – many are on the BP client list.

Thanks so much for explaining that and filling in a big puzzle piece for me! This could mean that Resonate was responsible for one group (for example, the pharmaceutical-related group) but that there were other Bell Pottinger clients there as well (for example, finance-related). Actually, the other group need not have been BP clients for BP to have bowed to them. It’s a close-knit world of connections at this level of society, and it is never wise to step on too many toes.
Again, we must wonder why no one is willing to tell us specifically what the “generic brief” was. They act as if this is top-secret classified information! Red flags all over the place.

That’s me, I just met them briefly.
We holiday in Luz regularly and had been there at Easter but were back in Ireland in May. When we heard about Madeleine we assumed like everyone that she had wandered, and feared she’d be found face up in a pool or womewhere. We defended the Mc Canns, actually, pointing out how safe the place is etc, and lets face it they are a bit like us, professionals with kids, used to creches etc.
We went back in July to reassure our kids, my younger daughter was having nighmares. When I realised exactly where they left the kids my heart skipped a beat, could not believe it.
Had not believed Murat any more than a reaction to the press intrusion - but I could see how he might be in the frame, with location of house and back lanes etc. Does not look likely now. I think he’s just a bipolar type, a bit grandiose, and now caught up in it.
We went to Mass and saw the Mc Canns, and spoke to them briefly outside. At that stage I just thought they were stupid people, and I felt very sorry for them. It was a bit odd the way they “posed” outside the church. Also odd I thought that they did not seek to pray in private somewhere else. The Church in Luz is so iconic at this stage.
Then I started to follow the story and to me at this stage I’m sorry to say that the facts don’t add up.
Have to go school run, back in half hour….

I did speak with Stevo, and admire his tenacity, though I’m not with him on all his conspiracies.
Someone has mentioned the stranger-danger vs someone known - why do you think the rest of the residents were not grilled in this? By the police OR Metodo3? Or have Metodo3 gone after them?
If it was my child I would be thinking of all males in the area, particularly those there temporarily and in a position of trust?
