Madeleine McCann: Carlos Anjos Says, Clarence Mitchell Replies And The Daily Express Is Quiet
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “Maddie cops snub”
Carlos Anjos, head of the Portuguese Police Federation, says: “There are bigger problems in the police”, than the case of Madeleine McCann
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “Mr Anjos is entitled to his opinion but it is entirely unhelpful”
This the same Carlos Anjos who once noted:
“There is no criminal investigation which can feed a news frenzy for six months, so what we have seen are both English and Portuguese journalists behaving in a scandalous and unprofessional way. Writing terrible stories in the papers, some of which have clearly affected the McCanns… now we have to say that the McCanns are partly to blame for this. Because it was something they created”
And then one of the oddest lines yet seen in a newspaper:
“Meanwhile cops have ruled out a theory the four-year-old could have been snatched by Swiss pervert Urs Hans Von Aesch. He blew his chance in august after killing a girl of five”
Anyone care to explain that comment?
DAILY STAR: “FIND MADDIE? WE’VE GOT BETTER THINGS TO DO. HEAD COP BLASTS McCANN SEARCH”
Says Mr Anjos: “There are bigger problems than the Maddie case”
Why the Star should appear shocked at this seem unclear, given the tabloid stories of paedophilia being rife in Portugal
Says Mr Anjos: “I am certain that all of my colleagues involved in the investigation are doing everything they can to discover what happened”
DAILY MIRROR: “Maddy’s ‘not our priority’”
Mr Anjos made his views known in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas
MARI Luz Cortes – Still missing. Her father has posted a £110,000 reward, The paper reports that police are “scaling down the search”
DAILY MAIL: “Maddie? We’ve got bigger problems”
Says Mr Anjos: “But with respect, there are bigger problems in the Policia Judiciaria than the Madeleine case”
DAILY EXPRESS: NO MADELEINE NEWS – Which is the biggest Madeleine McCann news of the past six months
Madeleine McCann: hype, frenzy and speculation

Good point. She didnt go crazy at the men, to our knowledge. Especially the last two and as you say the last one. Another oddity I’d not really considered.
Of course she might be furious with them and its being kept under wraps…incredible how we dont get to hear anything from friends of friends isnt it?

February 8th, 2008 at 2:56 pm Personally, I hope that the results will be
1) the McCanns are imprisoned for a substantial time, and not allowed to profit from the death of their daughter
2) the person directly responsible for the death of Madeleine McCann is identified (I do not think it is Kate or Gerry, but would like to know for sure who it was)
3) new laws are enacted to prevent child neglect, and also to prevent parents from profiting from any misfortune befalling their children
++++++++++++++++
So wrong - if we are talking about hope then I hope that Madeleine is found safe and well.

Off topic, but interesting
Those of you who are familiar with Tony Bennett here and his work on behalf of Terry Lubbock with regards to finding the truth out about his son Stuart Lubbock’s death will be interested in this Feb 7 news article about Michael Barrymore. Barrymore just opened in a play about Spike Milligan and Tery Lubbock sat in the front row on opening night as a form of protest.
There is discussion of the Lubbock case in the article, including quotes from Barrymore about it.

No wonder the PJ case was said to be over 4,000 pages, and that was a few months ago. By now it has probably grown considerably.
It’s a fascinating case, and as someone here aid (PeterMac?) there is a vacuum created by the lack of journalistic investigation. This fuels speculation by people who want to know something below the surface of lies presented by Brian Kennedy’s employee Clarence Mitchell, in the sycophantic British press.
I admire the people making speculations on INternet forums. It is not really relevant whether all speculations pan out or not. It is a form of “brainstorming” or the presentation of ideas for stimulation. In the process, one learns many things too, so it is an education.
With this case, there is no such stimulation whatsoever in the British media. That itself is another cause for concern. As the Internet grows, will media become more and more subservient? Will we now have a “cat and mouse” game where PR companies seek to destroy any sign of independent thinking on the Internet, while making press releases to the mainstream media that are presented to the public as news?
Or… will some of the media respond oppositely, by invigorating their invesitgative journalism, thus competing with the myriad amateurs (like you and me) on the Internet?
Truly, this Madeleine McCann case seems a watershed in many ways.
Personally, I hope that the results will be
1) the McCanns are imprisoned for a substantial time, and not allowed to profit from the death of their daughter
2) the person directly responsible for the death of Madeleine McCann is identified (I do not think it is Kate or Gerry, but would like to know for sure who it was)
3) new laws are enacted to prevent child neglect, and also to prevent parents from profiting from any misfortune befalling their children
I’m grateful to all people working in this direction. I give my thanks to all of you.

Generic brief means industry wide (multiple client, association, subject) activity. Could easily have been a collective of pharmaceutical companies – many are on the BP client list.
———————————————-
If they were brought in by MW, as Saturn says in one of his posts, it might just have been a general brief to see how to promote MW. Maybe not likely that MW would do this, but I would understand that that is what it means.

The “generic brief” may have been medical research-based and, in turn, sponsored by Government – hence, IMO, CM’s seamless introduction.

Hi,
The link I included in post 150 says this:
“Change in the observed frequency (or wavelength) of waves due to relative motion between the wave source and the observer. The Doppler effect is responsible for the perceived change in pitch of a siren as it approaches and then recedes, and for the red shift of light from distant galaxies. It is named after the Austrian physicist Christian Doppler.”
I think it’s the same as you are saying. What I didn’t know is that it was the same thing as is used in medicine. I’ve had an Echo Doppler - you see all your veins and arteries in different colours, if I remember rightly.
See you later. Back to work again.

I am not Châtelaine, but I thought there were nice things said about France. Nothing that was unpleasant. I don’t care a lot for frogs and snails, so I wasn’t upset.
Anyway, most people who come here, though they will (often rightly) complain about a number of things, like it very much and come backk. Come and see for yourself.

Day 42: 14/06/2007 Day: 42
Six weeks since Madeleine disappeared. We believe Madeleine is alive and I am glad to say that following yesterday?s letter in the Telegraaf (Netherlands) there has been no evidence that Madeliene is in the area indicated although there will be further searches tomorrow.
Kate and I picked up a friend from Faro airport who has been instrumental in helping with the campaign. He has been fantastic, producing the DVD of Madeleine to ?Don?t you forget about me? which has been shown at many sporting events and concerts as well as producing the look for maddie logo and various posters. We spent most of the day updating each other and discussing future campaign ideas. We are getting closer to appointing a campaign manager who will handle media liaison and coordinating events to keep Madeleine?s disappearance highly visible.

There was some shameful anti gaul stereotypes flying around Anorak the other day. And I’m rather embarrassed to say i got dragged into it. Do you forgive me?

I don’t know if this will help you, but in French we use the word générique associated with medecine (drugs): “médicamant générique”. It is a medecine (drug, pill, whatever), that is old enough not to belong any longer exclusively to the laboratory that first produced it. So, it can be put on the market under the name of the active substance that is in it, and independantly from the laboratory which created it. The pharmaceutical company hold no rights on it any longer.
Our national health sevice (sécurité sociale) ask the doctors to prescribe the “médicament générique” rather than a new one with almost the same formula, as it is usually much less expensive. The pharmacists are even allowed by law to change the prescription to a “médicament générique in order to save money. The pharmaceutical companies don’t like it, as they say they use part of the money they get by selling stuff under their name, on research.
