Madeleine McCann: Carlos Anjos Says, Clarence Mitchell Replies And The Daily Express Is Quiet

Carlos Anjos, head of the Portuguese Police Federation, says: “There are bigger problems in the police”, than the case of Madeleine McCann
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “Mr Anjos is entitled to his opinion but it is entirely unhelpful”
This the same Carlos Anjos who once noted:
“There is no criminal investigation which can feed a news frenzy for six months, so what we have seen are both English and Portuguese journalists behaving in a scandalous and unprofessional way. Writing terrible stories in the papers, some of which have clearly affected the McCanns… now we have to say that the McCanns are partly to blame for this. Because it was something they created”
And then one of the oddest lines yet seen in a newspaper:
“Meanwhile cops have ruled out a theory the four-year-old could have been snatched by Swiss pervert Urs Hans Von Aesch. He blew his chance in august after killing a girl of five”
Anyone care to explain that comment?

Why the Star should appear shocked at this seem unclear, given the tabloid stories of paedophilia being rife in Portugal
Says Mr Anjos: “I am certain that all of my colleagues involved in the investigation are doing everything they can to discover what happened”
DAILY MIRROR: “Maddy’s ‘not our priority’”
Mr Anjos made his views known in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas
MARI Luz Cortes – Still missing. Her father has posted a £110,000 reward, The paper reports that police are “scaling down the search”
DAILY MAIL: “Maddie? We’ve got bigger problems”
Says Mr Anjos: “But with respect, there are bigger problems in the Policia Judiciaria than the Madeleine case”

You are correct that I do not think Kate killed Madeleine directly. But the phrase “guilty of their death” encompasses a wide range.
Of course the McCanns are *responsible* for the death. But if you use the word “guilty”, most people assume you mean that they directly caused the death. In contrast “responsible” just means that they created the conditions resulting in her death.
No matter how you analyse the situation, the McCanns are “responsible” for the death. They may be “guilty” of nothing more than allowing a predator to have access to their child. And even that is unproven speculation.
I would really like to know what happened. Hopefully, the PJ investigation will let us know.

Mary, I truly hope that this does not turn out to be the case. Not because the forum will slow down, but because there are many, many people who come here who are very passionate about one thing, and that is to see that Madeleine gets the justice that she deserves, and does not become YET ANOTHER missing child statistic that gets lost in the dusty corridors of some police station!
Yes, there are many, many hundreds of other missing children, but I think that people have grasped onto Madeleine as if she were their own child, because of all the publicity and unanswered/conflicting things going on around this case. People want answers, but mostly, Madeleine NEEDS those answers.

Was in Luz 3 times last year, Easter, July, October.
I’m going over again at the end of the month so I hope to find out a bit more. Should be there a few times this year. I’m self employed so can do some work from there. Hope to spend a chunk of retirement there some day!!
Funnily enough had planned a novel based in Luz - and there were some similarities, plans now shelved!

I agree.I do not think they have killed her but/and if an unfortunate accident happened-and they do happen- they didnt need to make up such a fuss about it.It is tragic as it is without stirring up the way they have.
Be dignified,admitt it and they would have had a lot of support and even compassion,because we and they are human and proned to mistakes.Awful mistakes
People will not forgive them for not saying the truth and what is hanging over their head is very heavy.For the rest of their life.

Hi I’m back.
Sorry I wasn’t there on 3 May - I too have a lot of questions!
i was there in October and had a look at the place in the quiet darkness.
Cna’t understand why they jsut did not dine togehter in their apartments - they could have got food sent over? Easier than all that bobbing about???
I think these are really wierd people.
I wish we could hear their stroy.
And I agree if my child was missing I would suspect everyone. Everyone.
As a child my best friend was being abused by a relative and I never knew.
I remember when our kids were young, we lived once in an estate of 100 houses and a friend who worked in child care said “You have at least one child abuser in this estate”. I’ve always remembered that.
In every school there are abusing parents.
In every works canteen there is an abuser.
In every airport you pass through there is an abuser.
On every beach there is an abuser.
In every hospital there is an abuser.
Among your friends there is someone who was abused.
And if you have a wide circle of friends and associates there is an abuser.
You just do not know.
Why no suspicion on the holiday visitors?

Well, I tend to think they didnt kill her except by not looking after her, I think she died accidentally alone in the partment.
Of course they might be responsible and they arent doing themselves any favours by hiding things like frequency of checking, night of death etc (in my opinion and honest heartfelt belief!)

Personally, I hope that the results will be
1) the McCanns are imprisoned for a substantial time, and not allowed to profit from the death of their daughter
2) the person directly responsible for the death of Madeleine McCann is identified (I do not think it is Kate or Gerry, but would like to know for sure who it was)

I’m a little confused. Who do you mean by “they”?
If the topic is “how to promote MW”, then I suppose the range of clients would be much broader than just “pharmaceutical” or some other category. It’s confusing, and for precisely this reason, it is odd that Bell Pottinger does not bother to explain what the hell was going on. It really raises my suspicions very high.
