Carlos Anjos, head of the Portuguese Police Federation, says: “There are bigger problems in the police”, than the case of Madeleine McCann
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “Mr Anjos is entitled to his opinion but it is entirely unhelpful”
This the same Carlos Anjos who once noted:
“There is no criminal investigation which can feed a news frenzy for six months, so what we have seen are both English and Portuguese journalists behaving in a scandalous and unprofessional way. Writing terrible stories in the papers, some of which have clearly affected the McCanns… now we have to say that the McCanns are partly to blame for this. Because it was something they created”
And then one of the oddest lines yet seen in a newspaper:
“Meanwhile cops have ruled out a theory the four-year-old could have been snatched by Swiss pervert Urs Hans Von Aesch. He blew his chance in august after killing a girl of five”
Anyone care to explain that comment?
DAILY STAR: “FIND MADDIE? WE’VE GOT BETTER THINGS TO DO. HEAD COP BLASTS McCANN SEARCH”
Says Mr Anjos: “There are bigger problems than the Maddie case”
Why the Star should appear shocked at this seem unclear, given the tabloid stories of paedophilia being rife in Portugal
Says Mr Anjos: “I am certain that all of my colleagues involved in the investigation are doing everything they can to discover what happened”
DAILY MIRROR: “Maddy’s ‘not our priority’”
Mr Anjos made his views known in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas
MARI Luz Cortes – Still missing. Her father has posted a £110,000 reward, The paper reports that police are “scaling down the search”

The question to ask is why did matt o check on the mcc children??
They tapas 9/10 asked for appartments together when they realised that the resort did not provide a baby listening service.
If you plan to effect a listening service of your own and all have appartments in the same block - why do you all go seperatley and check just your own children??
read the timeline - some arrive 8.55 pm - first check on mccs 9.05, jane tanner checks on her child (?children) 9.15pm - a bit like dining at picadilly circus
At no point during the week have they ever said that they checked on each other children - so why did matt o go on this night to check on the mcc’s????
he noticed the bedroom was lighter than the others - so there were no lights left on in the appartment. But G had been there just after 9pm - when it was definately dark outside. Did he not leave a light on anywhere in the appartment. Very strange when small children are sleeping IMO.
Even when sitting downstairs with young kids in bed upstairs some sort of light (landing / bathroom) was left on in case the kids got up/woke up.

I think you are right. I think IF there’s been an abductor he entered through the patio doors and may be left trought the window. Or he opend the window/shutters to have a look if anybody was around and left through the front door.

Why didn’t any of the people passing the front every 4 mins notice the person? window? shutters? door?
How did they get out without leaving a trace or disturb the growth on the window ledge? why are they carrying a pink blanket around?why didn’t they take the young blonde one.
Very kind of them to lock the front door whilst holding a heavy kid! that didn’t wake up!
Ohhhh! they could have jumped straight over the wall and onto the street a 20ft drop that would have broken both of their necks!

I meant that if Madeleine was dead and they caused it, then none of the money would have been spent in looking for Madeleine and therefore all of the money would have been spent on them.
but the money is spent on posters / private detectives etc how is it spent on them ?

I think he probably went in and out the patio doors. After all if he’s caught, he could simply say he heard a noise and went to check etc etc - where as if someone passes and you’re half hanging out of a window holding a child, there’s not many excuses you could reasonably make.

Yes.The mcFools are costing an awful lot of money to protugal and the PJ is fed up now.
They said it: we have our own country to look after to which clarrie commented it is highly unhelpful to say that (or something like that).For god sake!!!!
I do hope they(PJ) are going to show their teeth very soon now.

The Le Meridien Penina Golf & Resort in Portugal hosts the Algarve Portuguese Open April 30 to May 3 as part of the PGA European Tour
Anybody from portugal here? I am looking from photographs from this tournament to see the cloud cover/weather on May the 3rd 2007.
Any ideas?
