Carlos Anjos, head of the Portuguese Police Federation, says: “There are bigger problems in the police”, than the case of Madeleine McCann
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “Mr Anjos is entitled to his opinion but it is entirely unhelpful”
This the same Carlos Anjos who once noted:
“There is no criminal investigation which can feed a news frenzy for six months, so what we have seen are both English and Portuguese journalists behaving in a scandalous and unprofessional way. Writing terrible stories in the papers, some of which have clearly affected the McCanns… now we have to say that the McCanns are partly to blame for this. Because it was something they created”
And then one of the oddest lines yet seen in a newspaper:
“Meanwhile cops have ruled out a theory the four-year-old could have been snatched by Swiss pervert Urs Hans Von Aesch. He blew his chance in august after killing a girl of five”
Anyone care to explain that comment?

Why the Star should appear shocked at this seem unclear, given the tabloid stories of paedophilia being rife in Portugal

Mr Anjos made his views known in Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas

However Justine Mcguiness was piad over £50,000 in salary and expenses, inculding meal receipts etc - did she ever dine with the mcc’s?
Travel expenses for some of the family have been paid for by the fund apparentely, also the funds board of directors is made up of family and friends. While we are told that no salary is being paid to them (i would question that but hey give you the benefit of the doubt), they can claim expenses….
Clarrie once said on camera that ‘once g returns to work they will no longer need to rely on the fund for living expenses’ - read into that what you will….
However G is now earning again (though i think he was probably on paid sick leave - as he was entitled to it for 6 months). K is not earning and i doubt that g is doing his private clinic work.. so income must be reduced. However they have one less mouth to feed, one less nursery bill to pay, one less to clothe….

I think the trouble is that there’s no way of The Abduction story fitting with the McCanns story about being responsible parents but K & G are determind to make it fit - so we’re left with all these inconsistencies.

DCB - yes clarrie did say that he was inpaid leave - but given the circumstances he would have had no trouble being signed off sick for stress - and the trust have always been supportive of him .
So as he was entitled to up to 6 months sick leave on full pay, and returned to work exactly 6 months after the end of their holiday, i think perhaps this is more likely IMO.
By the way - i am not having a go - any parent in these circumstances deserves support by their employer IMO

Somebody stole G”s wallet at the airport…with 2 of madeleine”s pictures in it and 100 euros.
The “thief” returned it without the 100 euros note…the comments were that probably the thief felt guitly when he heard about Madeleine”s spectacular disappearance!!
G”s was very distressed to have lost the pics.
