Madeleine McCann With Britney Spears And David Beckham
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “Maddie resort ‘perv’ snaps Brit”
“A suspected pervert who fled the resort where Maddie McCann vanished is taking photos of Britney Spears in LA, The Sun can reveal.
“Christian Ridout, 32, is wanted for questioning in Praia da Luz, Portugal, for allegedly trying to groom a 12-year-old girl”
DJ Shifty..?
“But for several months Ridout has used the name Dexter Troy to work as a paparazzo in Hollywood, where he has trailed the likes of Britney, David Beckham and Kiefer Sutherland”
Says Ridout: “These allegations are ridiculous. At the time of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance I was in London. I have not been to Portugal for three years”
But Britney Spears. Madeleine McCann. Both in the same story. Remarkable stuff at the Sun. has Ridout every taken a picture of Princess Diana? We demand to be told…
DAILY MIRROR: “McCann: Clear our name bid”
“Kate and Gerry McCann are planning a formal appeal to be cleared as suspects over missing daughter Madeleine, it was revealed yesterday. Lawyers for the couple, both 39, in Portugal and Britain, held talks to decide the timing of an application to lift their ‘arguido’ status”
McCanns talks with lawyers – read all about it!

I think he probably went in and out the patio doors. After all if he’s caught, he could simply say he heard a noise and went to check etc etc - where as if someone passes and you’re half hanging out of a window holding a child, there’s not many excuses you could reasonably make.

Karen
You seem to be overlooking the fact that the top road was dark. The side road was lit and had the exit of the MW complex. Agreed the abductor used the patio doors to gain entry to the partment but this person most certainly left via the window.
I think GM was right in his assumption that the abductor was in the apartment (and probably in the bedroom) when he made his check.
When GM left (via the patio door) the abductor then made a hasty escape with Madeliene via the window.
It is quite clear now how the beds in the room were located. Madleines was against the wall near the door. There was also another bed against the wall at the opposite end and below the window. The two cots took the space between the two beds.
On Gerrys check he states he didnt look into the room but only momentarily glanced at Madeleine. The abductor (in panic) would have hit behind one of the cots or in the corner on the wardrobe side which would have put him outside Gerrys line of site.
Tanners sighting clearly shows Madeliene being carried with her head in the left arm of the abductor. This to me suggests that he picked her out of the bed and carefully laid her on the bed nearest the window. After clambering out of the window he leant back in and picked up Madeliene whose head would now be to his left shoulder and thus how Tanner seen him.
Task complete!

You would be a fool not to. It does help in understanding the M case. The bigger the lie, the more likely it will work.

Beware the darkness of the night, the black robes of priestly garb, billowing and swirling in the gloom, perhaps under and out of sight, a bundle taken to an early doom.
Administrator: …and this would be? Ah ha…Father Jack Hackett sneaking in yet another crate to the Craggy Island presbytery out of sight from Fathers Ted and Dougal, or, perhaps the injured form of Mrs Doyle being carried back upstairs to finish deaning the window she has just pitched out of. No other scenario fits such a flight of fantasy. -agw

Saturn,
I have been saying the same thing for ages.Clarence is a liability to the couple and doing far more harm than good.I have always asserted that he is in the pay of someone whom he is actually protecting at this couples expense.
*************
Well, then, I finally caught up with you! I’m very slow.
Actually, I’ve not been following this case for too long, but have spent a lot of time looking at old articles and background material on the Internet or provided to me by others.
Brian Kennedy employs Clarence Mitchell, but it is true that Clarence first appeared on the scene at the behest of British government officials. So is the presumed real person he is protecting connected with the government? The problem is that at such high levels, the elite of the corporate world and the elite in the government are inter-twined. Bell Pottinger has former top government people on its payroll, as do other big businesses. It is a common practice.
So did big business prod government officials into sending Clarence, or did the government officials do so on their own, and then use Brian Kennedy to take the spotlight and heat off them, by arranging that Clarence Mitchell becomes an employee of Kennedy?
I think it is clear that Bell Pottinger has two things to protect. One is the legitimate protection of its clients, one of whom is Mark Warner Resorts. The other would be the same presumed person that Clarence is acting to protect.
Some other posters (Val, etc) have noticed that Clarence’s strategy (which Bell Pottinger apparently acceded to) is not the ideal one for Mark Warner’s interests. MW does not want a “holiday abduction” story that involves their resort dragging on for months and months in the headlines. So Clarence’s strategy is not helpful to either the McCanns or Mark Warner.
Getting back to who is “behind” Clarence Mitchell It could be someone in the rarefied upper echelons of the finance world. They influenced top officials to send Clarence Mitchell. But officials became aware of aspects in the case that they cannot afford to be associated with. Therefore, they told this Mystery Financier something like, “look we’re doing all we can to help out in the short-term, but we cannot continue like this, so please take this guy Clarence Mitchell off our hands.” Thus, soon after the “Madeleine McCann crisis” began, arrangements may have been made to have Clarence Mitchell become employed by Brian Kennedy.
This plan would have been agreed upon in May 2007, at the same time Mr Kennedy was negotiating for loans that were announced as pounds 60million on May 21st. The idea would have been to have him eventually announce that he was employing Clarence Mitchell, because if he had done so right then it would have raised eyebrows due to those financial negotiations, and the Royal Bank of Scotland being actively involved in the McCanns’ fund-raising.
But as I said above, it could also be that the original person “behind” Clarence is in the government, and had simply asked a favor of whoever it was that persuaded Brian Kennedy.
We cannot see behind the opaque curtain, but we can discern these two most likely possibilities. I’ve said which one I prefer, but there is nothing to do but wait, and see if the PJ files “surprise” charges against people other than the McCanns. Even so, they may not be able to take it to the top. But they may know who was involved in transporting the body, for example.
——————
Hannasus:They have lost their voice completely due to their spokesman. When he say “we” he is really saying “I”.This is all in my humble opinion of course but I have felt the same thing for a very long time.Kate and Gerry are being forced into guilt. Where was this certain benefactor during the week of the 2nd of May?
*************
Essentially, I agree, but have trouble wiht the word “guilt”. Whatever happened, if the McCanns know about it, then they are, at least in the aftermath, co-conspirators. They would have knowingly cooperated with disposing of a body, defrauding the public, etc. I don’t think anyone could have “forced” them into this “guilt” but themselves.
However, clearly there is high pressure involved. And not just for the McCanns. A while back T9 had their “reunion” meeting — how many of these people wanted to attend? More likely, they felt compelled to attend. I don’t think any of these people wanted to be entangled in this mess.
One thing that may have persuaded the McCanns to go along with the Clarence Mitchell strategy of making them look guilty while boldly insisting that they are innocent, is that the alternative for them would be worse. This makes one shudder, because the child neglect which the McCanns have essentially confessed to (as Tony Bennett pointed out) brings a sentence of 3 to 10 years in prison. Why would anyone make up such a risky alibi, and then plug the holes in it with ridiculous and contradictory tales of “regular checking”?
Why not just say they woke up the next morning to find Madeleine missing? They could have said that other than this they have no idea what happened. And the simple good advice they should have received would have been to shut up, and to learn a myriad ways of saying “no comment”.
They had a great chance to lie and spin, saying that according to Portuguese law they can’t make any comments. Not really true, but they said it anyway, and then still talked!!! How stupid can you get?
All they had to do was look sad, quit tennis and jogging, and not talk! Instead, they did >b>what even any run-of-the-mill lawyer will tell you never to do — open your big mouth. The people advising them had to know that their advice was not “helpful” to the McCanns.

And it’s quite true - I don’t understand how they can be allowed to name people in this way. Or, perhaps more relevantly, why they think it is a good idea to do so.

I hadn’t heard of that one. But, living in the middle of the country, I love all these new technological things. Internet banking, for example, is great. I save so much time. I have a friend in a similar situation to me who won’t use them - don’t know why. He has a computer, broadband, etc. and, what’s more, is without a car at present. Can’t understand it.
