Madeleine McCann: Lying To Children, Ian McEwan And Questions
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “McCann pals face new quiz”
“It is understood Jane Tanner, Russell O’Brien and David Payne, three of the Tapas Seven, may be questioned over alleged inconsistencies in their statements”
“Understood” and “may.” Such are the facts. Such is the reporting
Say the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “There is no suggestion Kate and Gerry will be re-interviewed”
And “suggestion”
DAILY RECORD: “One Last Try To Get Maddie Answers”
“Staff at the resort where Madeleine McCann vanished have again been quizzed by detectives. It comes as they prepare to re-interview pals of Kate and Gerry McCann in a last-ditch bid to crack the case”
Anyone we know questioned?
“Pool cleaner Luis Antonio, the husband of suspect Robert Murat’s girlfriend Michaela Walczuch, was one of five questioned in Praia da Luz”
Any reason why they were quizzed once more?
A judicial source tells Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas: “Several police interviews have been repeated. The statements are being analysed to try to find any lead that could result in a new line of investigation”
Analysing statements, eh. Technical stuff…
In his internet blog yesterday, Gerry McCann vowed not to give up looking for his young daughter, adding: “We hope the police are similarly determined”
DAILY EXPRESS: “POLICE LAST CHANCE TO FIND MADELEINE”
“Five staff members who were at the Ocean Club complex on the night she went missing have been quizzed in recent days as pressure mounts to conclude the investigation”
Why those five? Which five? The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER does not say
THE SUN: “Cops’ final bid to solve Maddie”
Michaela Walczuch “who denies any involvement in Maddie’s disappearance – was allegedly spotted in Zaio, Morocco, on June 15, moments after a girl resembling Madeleine was seen being dragged away by an African woman”
Three of the McCanns’ freins witll be spoken to by police.
A “source” says: “It sounded like they were concerned about timeline inconsistencies. But if you have nine people not wearing watches, it would be suspicious if their times matched exactly”
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Lying to children”
“From white lies to whoppers, vagueness with the truth is part of parenthood. But as Katie Tait learns from one psychologist, deceiving children is never justified”
Recently I told Kitty, our youngest child, that the police car had pulled us over because she was screaming in the back of the car (in fact I was, stupidly, speeding, but partly as a result of her noise). She is now mousey-quiet on journeys. My caprice over the tooth fairy has reached such an extent that the correspondence between “Molly” and my daughter Agnes fills two whole shoe boxes.
Then there are the areas that I don’t really want them to know the whole truth about. Will they get scared if I tell them that Madeleine McCann, whose picture they have seen everywhere, was taken from her bed? What about the news stories of dogs biting children to death? Will they ever go near next door’s puppy again? To me, vagueness with the truth is part of being a human being and certainly part of being a parent. But apparently, I am deeply wrong.
Maybe Katie’s children can read the truth in her article?
THE AGE (Aus): “The private and the public”
An interview with Ian McEwan, the author: “Journalists rang him because the disappearance of four-year-old Madeleine bore a dark similarity to the plot of his 1987 novel, The Child in Time, when a father has his three-year old girl stolen from him in a supermarket”
DVDTOWN: “GONE BABY GONE”
If you’re thinking that this film was a quick knockoff inspired by the real-life Madeleine McCann case–the little girl who disappeared from her family’s Portugal vacation home while her mom and dad were at a party not far away–it’s really just another case of life imitating art. Lehane’s novel about a four-year-old girl who turns up missing under similar circumstances was published way back in 1994.

Jolie, this is how I a;ways end up thinking. I know it can be challenged morally and in terms of cowardice…..but I, like you sound, am very, very pessimistic on all the counts you mention here. Buying time and enjoying it while helping others do the same is the best I can manage…….istm even fighting Nazism during and post-war, was easier because of a general, international majority of ‘right-thinking-people’ to whom one could appeal and with whom one could establish international responses, war crimes Tribunals etc. With this, there are so many *seemingly* ‘right-thinking-people’ always ready to argue black is white………aggghhhh :-((((

Oh don’t get me wrong. I am always sticking up for the kids when (usually older) people go on about the youth of today. The majority are great but that minority seems to be getting worse!
My husband used to coach our sons football team (aged 5-17) & they were a great bunch of boys. The only problems he used to get were from the parents!!

Moah - what if i didn’t want to have sex at the age of 15??
as for propaganda - i just switch off the radio/ tele, social scientists are free to tell me what they like, and i am free to listen or not …
i agree with the war / poverty, but selfishly it doesn’t directly affect me or my family..
so apart from smoking pot, what else are you not free to do??

Noseycow - for what it is worth! I am very impressed with the new Investigator, he is taking his time and being very methodical and going by the ‘book’! Many years ago I worked with a detective on some undercover cases so I have a deep respect for really good investigators and loathing for the bad ones (and as everywhere in life - there is good and bad so…I’m not maligning the Police). Yes, 3 people have been named main ’suspects’ but really everyone at that resort would be a suspect in his mind, if he is ‘playing it by the book’. I dont think for a second his mind is ‘closed’ and focusing on only one or two - he is crossing every ‘t’ and doting every ‘i’ so not to overlook anything . Nothing in this case is beyond the realm of possibility!

Hi Christine,
Yes life is precious. It’s a pity most of the time we take it for granted, as well as we take the people we love for granted.
That’s why I love an american family I know so much: they tell eachother every day they love eachother. You just can’t tell it often enough imo.

Fair - your story is very sad, but don’t please let it colour your veiw of all teenagers.
I took a (childless friend) to a footy match that my son was playing in last week, and she was stunned that so many kids and parents turned out. I told her that it was the same week after week, and not just in our village, take a look at any local sportsfield at the weekend.
I also happened to be in our local town on remberence sunday last year, and hundreds of kids (mostly teenagers) paraded through the town and participated in a remberence service, was very moving.
having had your experience it must be difficult not to believe the press when they report all the (too many) horror stories, but not all kids are like that.

Your kidding right? I want to be free from propaganda, from poverty, from disease, from war, from the police state, from ignorance and free from the oppressive rule of fascists and social scientists telling me what to do or think. In short i want to be free to LIVE. If you think you are free then they truly have you fooled noseycow. I take it you didn’t ever have sex at the age of 15 while smoking pot, which is a shame.

There’s no justice anymore imo. It used to make me mad when so many people refused to come foreward after a crime. Now I understand why, not that it makes it right. But justice hardly ever seems to prevail & the ‘witness’ is open to many repercussions. The law appears, too many times, to protect the perpetrator rather than the innocent.
A few weeks ago outside our house half a dozen kids (15-16 year olds?) were shouting, fighting etc between 12-1am. The other half wanted to go out & talk to them. I told him not to be stupid, it wasn’t worth what may result. Anyway whilst we were arguing about it another neighbour went out to confront them so mine had to go out to give moral support. The next day it emerged that the neighbours wife was as angry as me that they both went out. It also appears now that the ”kids” are trying to intimidate this neighbour. If the police were involved they would only say that there was nothing they could do.
I find it sad that we have to be frightened & intimidated by a bunch of young thugs who may carry knives etc. What are their parents doing?
I despair!

Have loads of files which I would want to transfer too. Perhaps Ade or Ian could advise me ?

False flag - i don’t beleive any direct threats have been made to make mw employees fearful… sorry .
I happen to work at a hospital trust close to this case, and know that nothing has been said ‘directly’ to staff, but if you happen to mention this case, you get the oddest responses… nobody speaks, end of, don’t understand what it is
whether its fear or suport for the drs mcc. It is just not done to speak about it…
all very odd. imo, thanks goodness for anorak..

1046 Man on a Hill
The powers that be have no problems starting wars that cost 10’s of thousands, even millions of lives and untold destruction. What makes you think they will be afraid of the resistance of the population when they have so much control in their hands? They will not mind killing and imprisoning people until others are cowered into obedience out of fear. They do not care about anyone except themselves. They have no loyalty or care for their country or countrymen. They will do what they have to do to maintain control, whether through subversive techniques or overt oppression. My opinion, of course.
We can live like comfortable slaves, for the time being, or we can bring disaster upon ourselves by our dissent. I prefer less bloodshed and turmoil and buying time.
But that doesn’t mean others can’t reach more optimistic conclusions. I’d just like to hear in broad strokes how you think the PTB could be defeated, with all the powers and control they already have.

1045 Noseycow:
Hi NC………I getya……..but intimidation in these indirect ways of watching examples of Team McCann at work is one issue. The ‘fear’ which I take it that CSN is referring to, comes more directly from deliberate intimidation in the form of spoken or written ‘threat’. I initially thought that Clarrie may have done this [perhaps via MW personel delivering a statement……….but I guess CSN is saying it was delivered by the joint police force. I would love to know exactly *how* they did it….Verbally at a staff meeting….individual interviews - perhaps getting a signed promise of silence for each member of staff……or by letters to each ???? Of course I suppose they would just say they are stressing the importance of judicial secrecy……..but if that was all it was it would not enducr *fear* as such………
February 17th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
cheryl - a few years ago i was on holiday in your country and found myself watching peoples court (i think ?) (please don’t ask me why…
) It was a case about a woman who had dropped a son off at nursery and forgot to drop her baby off at the childminders, baby asleep in car as she parked it, so she inadvertently left him in the car. It was summer, suffuce to say 10 hours later when she discovered him, he was dead.
The case was heartrendering whether you think she was guilty of manslaughter or not. What i love about the US is that cases like this are televised, so that interested people can watch what actually goes on, here we get a short edited version in the press with an artists impression of the accused. The general british public relies on court room dramas to inform us of what goes on in our courtrooms.

âde - a couple of years ago i won a macbook - twas very very nice, switched it on it worked, seemed to be very easy. They only issue was making it compatable with our (various) pc’s, the software required cost a few hundred, as a student nurse at the time there was no way i could afford that — so i sold the macbook one ebay and gained £760…

“I don’t mind staying here, in our community of posters to discuss this, as it is true that the Madeleine case may be a symptom of the bigger problem of government control and press manipulation.”
Jolie, I do hope everyone will agree it needs to stay here. To me, it is hugely entangled with the whole case from beginning to end and we simply cannot disentangle it even if we wanted to. It is also an aspect which the main media [naturally] can contribute even less than they can to other aspects………

also, i find that most people i work with use apple because it’s just better for anything creative like music, video. plus everything on apple works together so moving stuff around between music, graphics, video, comms is seamless
like i said, i ain’t got time to piss about with microsoft

Fair - it makes you wonder sometimes what justice is, the family of the baby apparently shouted ‘threats’ at the killer after the sentence was passed, and i wouldn’t be suprised if following his sentence they try to take matters into their own hands… it would be understandable imo

Yes, i have two young children, one of each. I realise that they have already been born into slavery but i try to keep them as free and safe as possible by renting this house on the hill and home schooling (It’s not that hard). The state will have to take them by force if they want them and they just might through national conscription with Iran-gate looming.. You cannot protect your kids and yourself from major external events which is why we have to organise a peaceful but powerful resistance to this creeping fascism. Convert your fear to anger and focus it on your oppressors. Only by stopping the world government in it’s tracks can we ensure the freedom for our kids. The truth woke me up, it will wake others to.

if i were working at mw pdl last summer i too would be scared witless… look at how team mcc and met 3 have tainted murat’s girlfriends life and pointed the finger at blokes who happen to look like the beatleman picture.
Rumour has been circulated many times that staff may be involved in maddies disapearence, from emails to the prince of wales to ’someone who has a key to the appartment’.
non of the mud slung has stuck so far, if you were a staff member you would be thinking - will it be me next??? imo
