Madeleine McCann: Lying To Children, Ian McEwan And Questions
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “McCann pals face new quiz”
“It is understood Jane Tanner, Russell O’Brien and David Payne, three of the Tapas Seven, may be questioned over alleged inconsistencies in their statements”
“Understood” and “may.” Such are the facts. Such is the reporting
Say the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “There is no suggestion Kate and Gerry will be re-interviewed”
And “suggestion”
DAILY RECORD: “One Last Try To Get Maddie Answers”
“Staff at the resort where Madeleine McCann vanished have again been quizzed by detectives. It comes as they prepare to re-interview pals of Kate and Gerry McCann in a last-ditch bid to crack the case”
Anyone we know questioned?
“Pool cleaner Luis Antonio, the husband of suspect Robert Murat’s girlfriend Michaela Walczuch, was one of five questioned in Praia da Luz”
Any reason why they were quizzed once more?
A judicial source tells Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas: “Several police interviews have been repeated. The statements are being analysed to try to find any lead that could result in a new line of investigation”
Analysing statements, eh. Technical stuff…
In his internet blog yesterday, Gerry McCann vowed not to give up looking for his young daughter, adding: “We hope the police are similarly determined”
DAILY EXPRESS: “POLICE LAST CHANCE TO FIND MADELEINE”
“Five staff members who were at the Ocean Club complex on the night she went missing have been quizzed in recent days as pressure mounts to conclude the investigation”
Why those five? Which five? The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER does not say
THE SUN: “Cops’ final bid to solve Maddie”
Michaela Walczuch “who denies any involvement in Maddie’s disappearance – was allegedly spotted in Zaio, Morocco, on June 15, moments after a girl resembling Madeleine was seen being dragged away by an African woman”
Three of the McCanns’ freins witll be spoken to by police.
A “source” says: “It sounded like they were concerned about timeline inconsistencies. But if you have nine people not wearing watches, it would be suspicious if their times matched exactly”
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Lying to children”
“From white lies to whoppers, vagueness with the truth is part of parenthood. But as Katie Tait learns from one psychologist, deceiving children is never justified”
Recently I told Kitty, our youngest child, that the police car had pulled us over because she was screaming in the back of the car (in fact I was, stupidly, speeding, but partly as a result of her noise). She is now mousey-quiet on journeys. My caprice over the tooth fairy has reached such an extent that the correspondence between “Molly” and my daughter Agnes fills two whole shoe boxes.
Then there are the areas that I don’t really want them to know the whole truth about. Will they get scared if I tell them that Madeleine McCann, whose picture they have seen everywhere, was taken from her bed? What about the news stories of dogs biting children to death? Will they ever go near next door’s puppy again? To me, vagueness with the truth is part of being a human being and certainly part of being a parent. But apparently, I am deeply wrong.
Maybe Katie’s children can read the truth in her article?
THE AGE (Aus): “The private and the public”
An interview with Ian McEwan, the author: “Journalists rang him because the disappearance of four-year-old Madeleine bore a dark similarity to the plot of his 1987 novel, The Child in Time, when a father has his three-year old girl stolen from him in a supermarket”
DVDTOWN: “GONE BABY GONE”
If you’re thinking that this film was a quick knockoff inspired by the real-life Madeleine McCann case–the little girl who disappeared from her family’s Portugal vacation home while her mom and dad were at a party not far away–it’s really just another case of life imitating art. Lehane’s novel about a four-year-old girl who turns up missing under similar circumstances was published way back in 1994.

1089 Noseycow “what is the difference between using eurojust and using political channels?
does it give the uk government the final say in the matter? does it affect any extradition attempts or appeals??”
I’m sure it does make a significant difference. I reckon the whole point of its creation was to be able to over-ride obstacles to justice by partially-minded countries. And Jacquie S wouldn’t have asked for it to be dropped if she did not gain something from that eh ? Anyone know more precisely about this then ???
February 17th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Mods and Admin….why have i been held in a bleedin chicken pen all night and most of today. I only added a bleedin squiggle or two. Its not fair, i want a squiggle like Ade and you are not allowing it WHY?????????

MOAH - i actually have no problem with people smoking pot though it is my choice not to, having seen the paranoia and depressive illnesses that prolonged use can lead to, i choose to stick to good old nicotene and take my chance with cancer..

“Also, IF THERE IS SOME KIND OF CONSPIRACY, I cannot see our PM Gordon Brown, risking his neck,”
But what if it exists to save his darn neck in the first place ????
February 17th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
cheryl - you seem to suggest that you don’t approve of the courts being so ‘open’, i certainly don’t approve of our courts being so closed, a two week trial gets 30 seconds on the tv or a column in a newspaper here, and we both know how unbiased and accurate out press are
perhaps somewhere between the two systems would be an ideal??

383 Val said:
“I think if the U.K. government tried to delay the interviews then Eurojust might have something to say.”
I gathered that part of the ‘deal’ when the rogatory letters were returned was that they should send them through normal legal chanels and NOT via Eurojust? I thought at the time it was strange that there was not much discussion of this. Surely this is likely to be because with Eurojust demands could be made of UK e.g. for some to return to Portugal or to demand some witness co-operate. UK could not refuse….however under the ‘old ways’ sovereignty or whatever could over-ride the PJ ??? If Eurojust has now been dismissed no doubt by /mutual agreement’ at the highest level, it would not matter what they think ???

First things first, expose 911 and 7/7 for what they are. Bush wanted it memorable and it swings both ways. Inoculate the populace with the truth. That will make it much harder for more atrocities to be committed. We are not dropping out, we are infiltrating and taking over. By now 80% of american troops know the truth and are waiting for a chance to show their anger (British forces must know to).

Man on the Hill - yes our soldiers do know what is going on. We are sending our boys over here back 2 and 3 times - we are out of ‘boys’ for Bush to let be killed from his private agenda. I was at the hair salon (unisex one) last week and this man was going around shaking hands and hugging the hair dressers. I asked Rosa what was going on - she said he is stationed at Ft. Belvoir and we do his hair and he is living for Iraq tomorrow for the third time and came in to say goodbye as he feels he isn’t coming back this time. She said he hasn’t even told his children yet he is going back over.

Moah - what if i didn’t want to have sex at the age of 15??
——————–
Are there any kids who don’t want to have sex at 15?
as for propaganda - i just switch off the radio/ tele, social scientists are free to tell me what they like, and i am free to listen or not …
————————————
So your free as long as you don’t watch tv, read a book, listen to the radio, see a film or take in a play. Sounds like fun.
i agree with the war / poverty, but selfishly it doesn’t directly affect me or my family..
———————–
It is selfish and stupid because you are paying for wars with your taxes. That certainly does affect you. Also their is no difference between Iraq’s and us. They are our neigbours, we are killing our neigbours and this DOESN’T affect you. Where is your love for them.
so apart from smoking pot, what else are you not free to do??
——————————–
The criminalization of pot is no small thing. Please give up your prejudice and learn about how this miracle plant could help save the planet.

Fascinating, isn’t it! We have “Court TV” where major trials are covered live by and the public can watch them on TV. And, also, as you may know, newspapers cover the stories from the moment a suspect is picked up. Why at times it is difficult to choose a jury that will be fair. And in some major crimes that everyone has followed in the newspapers until the suspect is charged the trial has be moved to another area in that state, as often the local public is already prejudiced against that suspect and they can’t find a fair jury. They are even carried live on the computer! However, it is up the Judge whether the TV cameras can be in his Courtroom or not.

I am currently writing a new song all about 911 and 7/7 and i know others will follow. Don’t ever give up and run away, that’s what they want you to do. Life is so transitory and you don’t have time to hide.

“- i don’t beleive any direct threats have been made to make mw employees fearful… sorry ”
Hmmm I certainly can imagine that at the hospital and maybe that *is* how it is also at Ocean Club. However, I’m not convinced that that is what CSN was implying. Partly necause she said “maybe now you will believe me about this” Also she said specifically that it was the joint police force which people fear………Maybe she will say more later.
