Madeleine McCann: Lying To Children, Ian McEwan And Questions
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “McCann pals face new quiz”
“It is understood Jane Tanner, Russell O’Brien and David Payne, three of the Tapas Seven, may be questioned over alleged inconsistencies in their statements”
“Understood” and “may.” Such are the facts. Such is the reporting
Say the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “There is no suggestion Kate and Gerry will be re-interviewed”
And “suggestion”
DAILY RECORD: “One Last Try To Get Maddie Answers”
“Staff at the resort where Madeleine McCann vanished have again been quizzed by detectives. It comes as they prepare to re-interview pals of Kate and Gerry McCann in a last-ditch bid to crack the case”
Anyone we know questioned?
“Pool cleaner Luis Antonio, the husband of suspect Robert Murat’s girlfriend Michaela Walczuch, was one of five questioned in Praia da Luz”
Any reason why they were quizzed once more?
A judicial source tells Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas: “Several police interviews have been repeated. The statements are being analysed to try to find any lead that could result in a new line of investigation”
Analysing statements, eh. Technical stuff…
In his internet blog yesterday, Gerry McCann vowed not to give up looking for his young daughter, adding: “We hope the police are similarly determined”
DAILY EXPRESS: “POLICE LAST CHANCE TO FIND MADELEINE”
“Five staff members who were at the Ocean Club complex on the night she went missing have been quizzed in recent days as pressure mounts to conclude the investigation”
Why those five? Which five? The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER does not say
THE SUN: “Cops’ final bid to solve Maddie”
Michaela Walczuch “who denies any involvement in Maddie’s disappearance – was allegedly spotted in Zaio, Morocco, on June 15, moments after a girl resembling Madeleine was seen being dragged away by an African woman”
Three of the McCanns’ freins witll be spoken to by police.
A “source” says: “It sounded like they were concerned about timeline inconsistencies. But if you have nine people not wearing watches, it would be suspicious if their times matched exactly”
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Lying to children”
“From white lies to whoppers, vagueness with the truth is part of parenthood. But as Katie Tait learns from one psychologist, deceiving children is never justified”
Recently I told Kitty, our youngest child, that the police car had pulled us over because she was screaming in the back of the car (in fact I was, stupidly, speeding, but partly as a result of her noise). She is now mousey-quiet on journeys. My caprice over the tooth fairy has reached such an extent that the correspondence between “Molly” and my daughter Agnes fills two whole shoe boxes.
Then there are the areas that I don’t really want them to know the whole truth about. Will they get scared if I tell them that Madeleine McCann, whose picture they have seen everywhere, was taken from her bed? What about the news stories of dogs biting children to death? Will they ever go near next door’s puppy again? To me, vagueness with the truth is part of being a human being and certainly part of being a parent. But apparently, I am deeply wrong.
Maybe Katie’s children can read the truth in her article?
THE AGE (Aus): “The private and the public”
An interview with Ian McEwan, the author: “Journalists rang him because the disappearance of four-year-old Madeleine bore a dark similarity to the plot of his 1987 novel, The Child in Time, when a father has his three-year old girl stolen from him in a supermarket”
DVDTOWN: “GONE BABY GONE”
If you’re thinking that this film was a quick knockoff inspired by the real-life Madeleine McCann case–the little girl who disappeared from her family’s Portugal vacation home while her mom and dad were at a party not far away–it’s really just another case of life imitating art. Lehane’s novel about a four-year-old girl who turns up missing under similar circumstances was published way back in 1994.

Dont get me wrong, I only agree with smoking pot, I no way agree with harder drugs, which are mind altering and harmful . The worst part about smoking pot is the tobacco that you smoke it with! imo of course

MOAH please answer the question - or is it too hard for you??
will your new world order take away my right not to smoke dope??

As long as people have the freedom to legally drink alcohol, I do not think they should be locked up for smoking pot. One is just as bad as the other (or as good, depending on your POV). Too many people are jailed for minor personal possession and use, which I think is a crime. Yet, hundreds of thousands die each year from problems related to prescription drug use and only a small fraction of that from illegal drug use. Education and treatment, not incarceration for drug users.
Less government regulation, more personal freedom and choice–that’s what I wish we had.

Just_me - the point i was trying to make was about my freedom of choice not to smoke pot, or to have sex at 15, both of which seem to have angered MOAH.
he claims that he is not free and yet seems to be able to smoke as much as he wants, and this opressive society did not stop you from smoking when you wanted to, but my choice not to is somehow wrong???
———————————-
Nosey, if I may butt in here. Your choice not to was definitely NOT wrong! You made the choice as a sensible woman, and IMO it was the right choice to make!
My brother was almost destroyed by the “green stuff”, he thought he was smarter than everyone else, tried to dictate to them the advantages of smoking it (his own family included), he got into all the wrong things, almost messed up his entire career and future (the green buddies told him smoking the shit would improve his learning capabilities!!). Yes, he could do things at an endless pace, but eventually had to smack back down to mother earth. I think on one of his final landings, he finally realised that flying up there was getting him nowhere. Thank goodness, today he is very successful and runs quite a profit-making business … and all thanks to his decision to stop “flying”!

Sorry, should have said “all Countries in the European Union.
It is probably part of the European Union eventually adopting a unified
Legal System, yet another example of the erosion of independence and
self government . Won”t be too long before they try to introduce Esperanto
(one language for all Countries) IMO
February 17th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Just_me - exactly
We do have freedom of choice… if only we could respect each others rights to make different choices to us then the world (and anorak) would be a happier place imo

1123 Man on a hill
You can and will believe whatever you like, for your own reasons. There is no doubt that cannabis causes schizophrenia, or at least can precipitate it in those who have an innate tendency. Depression and paranoia are also very common in users. Maybe you think that all these depressed, paranoid and schizophrenic users were depressed, paranoid and schizophrenic before using it? Even if that was true, becoming a pot user certainly does not help or cure them. It makes them worse, breaks up families and leads to ruination of lives.
Those who want to believe your glib and fallacious reasoning will do so regardless of the evidence. But those whose families have been destroyed by the habit will be in no doubt about the damage it does. We should not, of course, believe everything we are told by the government or the media. We should use our own eyes and ears and believe what they tell us. MOAH - you are the one who has been brainwashed into believing what you already want to believe.
Thank you, Cheryl, for your story, which typifies the experience of many families who have no doubt about the harm that this drug can do.

1129 MOAH
It is life-affirming to know the truth, I agree. As dark and depressing as the picture is, knowing more of the pieces of the puzzles does make the political actions taken in the world make more sense, because they don’t make any sense from a sound governing-for-the-people policy perspective. A light goes off in your head and you finally understand…Oh, that’s why…
Have you seen the recent BBC article from yesterday, about the use of computers to be implanted in humans to make them smarter? They’ll have to kill me before I’ll let them implant anything into my body that will control me.
But the younger generation will probably buy into it, if it is presented with an entertainment enhancing package–a step up from their iPods and Xbox 360s.

Surely it would be very hard for the British Govt to follow a policy of refusing to allow the extradition of suspects to another country when you remember the problems they faced when dealing with the Russian poisoning case a few months ago - the victim was Alexander Litvenyenko. They are still pursuing this, I believe.

The people that are now on here criticizing dope have never read a book on it in their lives. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Only trust what you have read from a reliable source. They are using the drugs issue to ignore the core of my argument just like they have been programmed to do. Just say know.
February 17th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
Hi there all.
’scuse me to butt in so bluntly, I’ve obviously missed quite a bit here. But what the hell does smoking dope have to do with MM? Ok, apart from the fact that you think you’re invincible and can rule the world … does this have something to do with it?
