Madeleine McCann: Lying To Children, Ian McEwan And Questions
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “McCann pals face new quiz”
“It is understood Jane Tanner, Russell O’Brien and David Payne, three of the Tapas Seven, may be questioned over alleged inconsistencies in their statements”
“Understood” and “may.” Such are the facts. Such is the reporting
Say the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “There is no suggestion Kate and Gerry will be re-interviewed”
And “suggestion”
DAILY RECORD: “One Last Try To Get Maddie Answers”
“Staff at the resort where Madeleine McCann vanished have again been quizzed by detectives. It comes as they prepare to re-interview pals of Kate and Gerry McCann in a last-ditch bid to crack the case”
Anyone we know questioned?
“Pool cleaner Luis Antonio, the husband of suspect Robert Murat’s girlfriend Michaela Walczuch, was one of five questioned in Praia da Luz”
Any reason why they were quizzed once more?
A judicial source tells Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas: “Several police interviews have been repeated. The statements are being analysed to try to find any lead that could result in a new line of investigation”
Analysing statements, eh. Technical stuff…
In his internet blog yesterday, Gerry McCann vowed not to give up looking for his young daughter, adding: “We hope the police are similarly determined”
DAILY EXPRESS: “POLICE LAST CHANCE TO FIND MADELEINE”
“Five staff members who were at the Ocean Club complex on the night she went missing have been quizzed in recent days as pressure mounts to conclude the investigation”
Why those five? Which five? The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER does not say
THE SUN: “Cops’ final bid to solve Maddie”
Michaela Walczuch “who denies any involvement in Maddie’s disappearance – was allegedly spotted in Zaio, Morocco, on June 15, moments after a girl resembling Madeleine was seen being dragged away by an African woman”
Three of the McCanns’ freins witll be spoken to by police.
A “source” says: “It sounded like they were concerned about timeline inconsistencies. But if you have nine people not wearing watches, it would be suspicious if their times matched exactly”
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Lying to children”
“From white lies to whoppers, vagueness with the truth is part of parenthood. But as Katie Tait learns from one psychologist, deceiving children is never justified”
Recently I told Kitty, our youngest child, that the police car had pulled us over because she was screaming in the back of the car (in fact I was, stupidly, speeding, but partly as a result of her noise). She is now mousey-quiet on journeys. My caprice over the tooth fairy has reached such an extent that the correspondence between “Molly” and my daughter Agnes fills two whole shoe boxes.
Then there are the areas that I don’t really want them to know the whole truth about. Will they get scared if I tell them that Madeleine McCann, whose picture they have seen everywhere, was taken from her bed? What about the news stories of dogs biting children to death? Will they ever go near next door’s puppy again? To me, vagueness with the truth is part of being a human being and certainly part of being a parent. But apparently, I am deeply wrong.
Maybe Katie’s children can read the truth in her article?
THE AGE (Aus): “The private and the public”
An interview with Ian McEwan, the author: “Journalists rang him because the disappearance of four-year-old Madeleine bore a dark similarity to the plot of his 1987 novel, The Child in Time, when a father has his three-year old girl stolen from him in a supermarket”
DVDTOWN: “GONE BABY GONE”
If you’re thinking that this film was a quick knockoff inspired by the real-life Madeleine McCann case–the little girl who disappeared from her family’s Portugal vacation home while her mom and dad were at a party not far away–it’s really just another case of life imitating art. Lehane’s novel about a four-year-old girl who turns up missing under similar circumstances was published way back in 1994.

Father Pacheco, 46, said he had felt compelled to help Kate and Gerry because of their “inconsolable grief”.
That begs the question, who is lying, the Priest or the people who say the McCanns show no emotion, no grief.
——————————————————————————–
Gandolf, neither.
The McCanns are the lying ones. They acted ‘inconsolable grief’ enough to convince the priest.
And their ‘inconcolable grief’ might have been enough to convince Father Pacheco at the time, but not since.

And what do you think? do you think she never said that, because if my memory serves me rightly, i remember seeing her talking about it. And she was upset at hearing the children crying and no-one coming to them!

Thank you for answering.
France has also repudiated the authority of the Catholic Church, of any church.
It would be interesting to know how the USA cope with the problem. If France or the US obliged the priests to tell on the people who confessed of crimes, I don’t know what would happen. Many priests in jail, no more Catholics in those countries?
Are the English Catholic priests supposed to report?

There’s never been a dance that’s so easy to do,
It even makes you happy when you’re feelin’ blue.
Do it nice and easy now, and don’t lose control,
A little bit of rhythm and a lot of bull,
So, come on, come on, and do the Clarrie-spin with me

That’s mrs Fenn, who denied saying that and said in front of the camera’s that she never spoke to the journalists and that it was “rubbish”.

The lies are coming thick and fast these days, it’s getting hard to tell what’s the truth and what’s a lie.
Has anyone else heard anything more about the ex-pat old lady that lived in the apartment above the McC’s?
She came forward about a month later(can you believe it?) saying that the night before Maddie’s dissapearance, the children were crying very loudly for dad or mum from app 9pm to 10.45pm.
So much for checking every half hour or so!

Hey, my fine feathered friend.
I have just been scrolling through earlier posts, I see you managed to ignore the blatant baiting.
Your armour is not required as we are both at the same end of the lance.
Did have a minor dance floor scuffle with BF last night, but nothing to write home about.

can’t say no, the Portuguese authorities may have fooled a lot of people, but they have not fooled the British authorities, nor shall they.

Hi Cheryl,
Yes mr. Rebelo seems to be a real professional. I wouldn’t be surprised if he explored many more ways then we even can imagine. Pssst : didn’t you get the point I really was making?
I’m not sure if he indeed stopped the leaks. There are still a lot of rumours printed in the papers. So it’s imo :
1. the journo’s make up stories
2. someone with a vengeance is leaking information [true or false information]
3. there are still leaks
4. its a strategy of the pj

Regarding grass….what about regarding alcohol????
In all the roads accidents reported (at least in spain) the drivers were so freaking pissed again….NO way it happens smoking hash or grass…..
*************
Jo, I took it as read that drunken drivers are a menace. However, I made the point in another posting that I don’t recall reading about arrests for drivers who were ‘drugged’. No doubt it happens because, as I stated, their reactions become slow and erratic, even after smoking hash or grass. They are too laid back to drive safely IMO.

“chicory with french cheese . . . .”
Sounds yummy, how about a recipe?
****************
It was/is yummy and very easy. I “invented” it myself
Take enough chicory [depends on how many people want to be fed], clean it and cut it through the half [in the length]. Get rid of the sour parts of the chicory. Cook it for about 5 mn in boiling water [add a tiny bit of baking powder to the water, this will keep the chicory beautiful fresh coloured].
Get rid of the water. Make some mushed potato purée. Turn the oven on ca. 180 degrees Celsius. Put the cicory in a ovendish, slice the french cheese [I used Brie] and put it on the chicory [if you don't want to eat it all vegetarian, you can add some slices of ham [?]]. Then add the purée on top. Mix sour cream [200gr] with and egg and put it over the purée. Cover it with breadcrumbs and chopped [dried] walnuts. Then put a bit of grated cheese on top of it and put it in the oven for about 20 mn. If necessary you can put it under the grill for a few minutes in case the cheese and breadcrumbs don’t get brown.
