Madeleine McCann: Lying To Children, Ian McEwan And Questions
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “McCann pals face new quiz”
“It is understood Jane Tanner, Russell O’Brien and David Payne, three of the Tapas Seven, may be questioned over alleged inconsistencies in their statements”
“Understood” and “may.” Such are the facts. Such is the reporting
Say the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “There is no suggestion Kate and Gerry will be re-interviewed”
And “suggestion”
DAILY RECORD: “One Last Try To Get Maddie Answers”
“Staff at the resort where Madeleine McCann vanished have again been quizzed by detectives. It comes as they prepare to re-interview pals of Kate and Gerry McCann in a last-ditch bid to crack the case”
Anyone we know questioned?
“Pool cleaner Luis Antonio, the husband of suspect Robert Murat’s girlfriend Michaela Walczuch, was one of five questioned in Praia da Luz”
Any reason why they were quizzed once more?
A judicial source tells Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas: “Several police interviews have been repeated. The statements are being analysed to try to find any lead that could result in a new line of investigation”
Analysing statements, eh. Technical stuff…
In his internet blog yesterday, Gerry McCann vowed not to give up looking for his young daughter, adding: “We hope the police are similarly determined”
DAILY EXPRESS: “POLICE LAST CHANCE TO FIND MADELEINE”
“Five staff members who were at the Ocean Club complex on the night she went missing have been quizzed in recent days as pressure mounts to conclude the investigation”
Why those five? Which five? The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER does not say
THE SUN: “Cops’ final bid to solve Maddie”
Michaela Walczuch “who denies any involvement in Maddie’s disappearance – was allegedly spotted in Zaio, Morocco, on June 15, moments after a girl resembling Madeleine was seen being dragged away by an African woman”
Three of the McCanns’ freins witll be spoken to by police.
A “source” says: “It sounded like they were concerned about timeline inconsistencies. But if you have nine people not wearing watches, it would be suspicious if their times matched exactly”
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Lying to children”
“From white lies to whoppers, vagueness with the truth is part of parenthood. But as Katie Tait learns from one psychologist, deceiving children is never justified”
Recently I told Kitty, our youngest child, that the police car had pulled us over because she was screaming in the back of the car (in fact I was, stupidly, speeding, but partly as a result of her noise). She is now mousey-quiet on journeys. My caprice over the tooth fairy has reached such an extent that the correspondence between “Molly” and my daughter Agnes fills two whole shoe boxes.
Then there are the areas that I don’t really want them to know the whole truth about. Will they get scared if I tell them that Madeleine McCann, whose picture they have seen everywhere, was taken from her bed? What about the news stories of dogs biting children to death? Will they ever go near next door’s puppy again? To me, vagueness with the truth is part of being a human being and certainly part of being a parent. But apparently, I am deeply wrong.
Maybe Katie’s children can read the truth in her article?
THE AGE (Aus): “The private and the public”
An interview with Ian McEwan, the author: “Journalists rang him because the disappearance of four-year-old Madeleine bore a dark similarity to the plot of his 1987 novel, The Child in Time, when a father has his three-year old girl stolen from him in a supermarket”
DVDTOWN: “GONE BABY GONE”
If you’re thinking that this film was a quick knockoff inspired by the real-life Madeleine McCann case–the little girl who disappeared from her family’s Portugal vacation home while her mom and dad were at a party not far away–it’s really just another case of life imitating art. Lehane’s novel about a four-year-old girl who turns up missing under similar circumstances was published way back in 1994.

I don’t know either if Mrs F. got counselled. Not for sure.
I don’t know either whether there’s a conspiracy. Not for sure.
But there are enough inconsistencies for me to have serious suspicions.

yes, I was wondering about that too. Don’t know the answer.
And I wonder if it’s really true they only want to question Tanner, O’Brien and Oldfield. We’ll see.-

Maybe the Tapas 9 are all keeping quiet because they are all guilty of gross neglect and can’t risk their professional careers with the stigma of it. By the sounds of things these kids were not checked on often at all. It sounds like they were all having too much of a good time, so when they try to make out they were visiting regularly the ‘inconsistencies’ started to appear.
Which would then lead me to think that an accident in the apartment was a more likely scenario. (all IMO)

The PJ have no jurisdiction on British soil, and the tapas group nor indeed the McCanns need cooperate with them on British soil.

No, I do not think the priests are allowed by the church to report the confessions they heard to anyone, and certainly not to Rome. (If some do it, which I doubt, they are bad priests, and those who listen to them are bad too).
I was thinking, report to the police. Are they supposed to do that? It is a serious question, when it comes to paedophilia, for instance. The catholic church has been accused of knowing about dangerous priests, and clothing their eyes.
Catholic faith still comes first in France, but not by much. And people practice it less and less. Islam is important, and there is also a surprisingly important number of Buddhists. (Vietnamese mainly).

Dee,
I’m sure you don’t want to exchange him with Balkenende, whom I call Balkenellende. It’s our primeminister. And “balk” is what we call the sound a donkey makes and “ellende” is like a disaster.

Denzylle, so does that gap tell you that someone is lying, strange conclusion, or do you just think the parents are guilty of more than neglect.
February 17th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Read yesterday, 2 more may be made aguido’s after re-interview. Can the pj’s name 2 more as aguido’s on uk soil? How would this work?

I agree with you Totje
I don’t think there is a need for a political cover up, unless this is much worse than we can imagine, but surely, having gordie broon as a pal to call on helps;D

Denzylle,
I don’t know is mrs Fenn got counselled.
Like I said earlier this evening: I don’t believe in a political conspiracy to cover up for the McC’s.
The only way I could believe in a conspiracy is in case there’s something much, much more sinister going on.

Gandolf Says:Father Pacheco, 46, said he had felt compelled to help Kate and Gerry because of their “inconsolable grief”.
That begs the question, who is lying, the Priest or the people who say the McCanns show no emotion, no grief.
—————————————————————————————-
No, Gandolf, I don’t have any information which you don’t have.
I was merely noting the gap between your mention of the ‘lying?’ Priest and the ‘people who say the McCs show no emotion or grief’ - the gap being the McCanns themselves.

Ian,
How about your often posted :
“For there to have been negligence, there are three things which must be proven.
1. Was a duty of care owed?
2. Was the duty of care failed?
3. Did the object of the duty of care suffer as a result?”
So there is a law. We don’t need a new one imo.

I think they are right to make drug tests on drivers. If people want to drink or smoke, or take drugs, let them do it, but not drive. Pedestrians, children, get killed. In France, there is an incredible consumption of “anti-depresseurs”, the doctors prescribe them even when not necessary. Combined with alcoohol, the effects are dangerous on the roads. Cannabis is often combined with alcohol. Danger, danger.
We had terrible figures as regards road accidents. We have really improved, but there is still a long way to go.

Dee,
That’s mrs Fenn, who denied saying that and said in front of the camera’s that she never spoke to the journalists and that it was “rubbish”.
————————————————————————————–
No doubt Mrs Fenn was subsequently counselled by the same counsellors who attended to the MW staff.
BTW, the CIA has an interface between ‘agents’ known as ‘counsellors’ and personnel who are key to a specific issue.
Coincidence?

I’ve only seen two ’shots’ of her in front of the camera. One on portuguese tv and I heard her say “rubbish” and one in english and she said “I never said that, it’s rubbish”.
So I’m not sure what to believe. Was she trying to get rid of the journalists then, or is it true the whole story about the children crying is “rubbish”?
Why haven’t we heard/seen other people about it?
If we believe the papers mrs Fenn made a statement at the pj [after weeks, so why didn't the police interview her earlier?]. So time will tell what she’s seen or heard if the case ever comes to a court.
