Madeleine McCann: Lying To Children, Ian McEwan And Questions
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “McCann pals face new quiz”
“It is understood Jane Tanner, Russell O’Brien and David Payne, three of the Tapas Seven, may be questioned over alleged inconsistencies in their statements”
“Understood” and “may.” Such are the facts. Such is the reporting
Say the McCanns’ family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “There is no suggestion Kate and Gerry will be re-interviewed”
And “suggestion”
DAILY RECORD: “One Last Try To Get Maddie Answers”
“Staff at the resort where Madeleine McCann vanished have again been quizzed by detectives. It comes as they prepare to re-interview pals of Kate and Gerry McCann in a last-ditch bid to crack the case”
Anyone we know questioned?
“Pool cleaner Luis Antonio, the husband of suspect Robert Murat’s girlfriend Michaela Walczuch, was one of five questioned in Praia da Luz”
Any reason why they were quizzed once more?
A judicial source tells Portuguese newspaper 24 Horas: “Several police interviews have been repeated. The statements are being analysed to try to find any lead that could result in a new line of investigation”
Analysing statements, eh. Technical stuff…
In his internet blog yesterday, Gerry McCann vowed not to give up looking for his young daughter, adding: “We hope the police are similarly determined”
DAILY EXPRESS: “POLICE LAST CHANCE TO FIND MADELEINE”
“Five staff members who were at the Ocean Club complex on the night she went missing have been quizzed in recent days as pressure mounts to conclude the investigation”
Why those five? Which five? The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER does not say
THE SUN: “Cops’ final bid to solve Maddie”
Michaela Walczuch “who denies any involvement in Maddie’s disappearance – was allegedly spotted in Zaio, Morocco, on June 15, moments after a girl resembling Madeleine was seen being dragged away by an African woman”
Three of the McCanns’ freins witll be spoken to by police.
A “source” says: “It sounded like they were concerned about timeline inconsistencies. But if you have nine people not wearing watches, it would be suspicious if their times matched exactly”
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Lying to children”
“From white lies to whoppers, vagueness with the truth is part of parenthood. But as Katie Tait learns from one psychologist, deceiving children is never justified”
Recently I told Kitty, our youngest child, that the police car had pulled us over because she was screaming in the back of the car (in fact I was, stupidly, speeding, but partly as a result of her noise). She is now mousey-quiet on journeys. My caprice over the tooth fairy has reached such an extent that the correspondence between “Molly” and my daughter Agnes fills two whole shoe boxes.
Then there are the areas that I don’t really want them to know the whole truth about. Will they get scared if I tell them that Madeleine McCann, whose picture they have seen everywhere, was taken from her bed? What about the news stories of dogs biting children to death? Will they ever go near next door’s puppy again? To me, vagueness with the truth is part of being a human being and certainly part of being a parent. But apparently, I am deeply wrong.
Maybe Katie’s children can read the truth in her article?
THE AGE (Aus): “The private and the public”
An interview with Ian McEwan, the author: “Journalists rang him because the disappearance of four-year-old Madeleine bore a dark similarity to the plot of his 1987 novel, The Child in Time, when a father has his three-year old girl stolen from him in a supermarket”
DVDTOWN: “GONE BABY GONE”
If you’re thinking that this film was a quick knockoff inspired by the real-life Madeleine McCann case–the little girl who disappeared from her family’s Portugal vacation home while her mom and dad were at a party not far away–it’s really just another case of life imitating art. Lehane’s novel about a four-year-old girl who turns up missing under similar circumstances was published way back in 1994.

If it IS true that the other children were included without permission, then what does that say about the complaints about web-sites concerning MM done without the McC’s permission from Mitchell?

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
It’s late, so maybe there will be nobody reading this post. Anyway, I’ve just read in 24 Horas that the Cortes family hasn’t been informed about the campaign with Mary Luz and Madeleine. <the campaign has been launched without the knowledge of the Cortes family, who says that “they should have been informed, at least…”
So, the posters have been an idea of the team, that have used tMary Luz picture (togheter with Madeleine’s) for their purposes, and without the Cortes family approval… Isn’t marvelous? The team do it their way…
_________________
Question: Is that what the 24 Horas said they said or is that an official statement given by a member of the family to the newspaper with the name of the person who supposedly said it to back it up?

Thanks for telling us about the official news report. This is another example of the selfishness of this couple, not to be concerned with the feelings of the Cortes parents, but willing to use their and their daughter’s plight for the McCanns’ own purposes, imo.
It will be interesting to see what the fallout will be from their actions. Was there any further information as to what approach the Corteses were planning to take with regard to this? Will they insist the posters are not displayed? Do they plan to sue to the McCanns?
Good night, Pilimary.

Man on a Hill and May
Thanks for your detailed information on Zeitgeist: The Movie.
I’ve watched some of the info. in the middle of it about 9/11 and am amazed by the many official videos and interviews that back up the claims made in the movie. Can’t wait to sit down and watch the entire film.
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was a waste on this forum. Today, we talked about some serious issues, Madeleine among them.
Thanks again.

Saul:
Agenda? A list of topics used to beat captive audiences into acceptance or submission.
They are rarely signed and become organisational property; often without the group being truly aware of the final outcome being aimed for.
The ultimate bureaucratic chiselling tool?
It is probably fair to say a number of separate agendas remain linked to the Madeleine story.

May,
I found an page to order inexpensive DVD copies of the movie from an official site ($5 each) and inexpensive shipping, too, for those who would prefer to watch it on their TV instead of online.
http://zeitgeistmovie.com/dvdorder.htm
I will make a point to watch it this week. I will particularly be interested in seeing the religious aspect of it, as I am already familiar with the political story.

Tony Bennett has three items in Moderation and is unable to post further.
This is because of a situation which arose on Feb 11. I will repeat the last posting:
Form Tony Bennett Feb 11 :
We must agree to disagree on whether my comments on a particular case came anywhere near to breaching sub judice or contempt of court rules, but in view of the tone of your post and your other comments, I feel the sensible course is for me to withdraw from Anorak indefinitely.
This does not change my view that Anorak has performed and is peforming a most useful role in facilitating discussion about Madeleine McCann and long may you continue to do so
Administrator: The return route remains a contact via editor@anorak.co.uk
We do not doubt the value of Mr Bennett’s contribution but he is well aware of our concerns and the position as we see it. The solution lies with him and not Anorak. -agw

Very good, taking the P out of the “Fancy” posters, what with all the smileys, “accents” etc. what will they think of next. Very laboriously, I found
a poster earlier tonight on 3 Arguidos who suggested Oldfield had gone to
Portugal to amend his Statement……..great news if true!!!!!!!
I can”t see Gordon Brown sticking his neck out now to try to delay the interviews, and just hope, after all this time the PJ have enough to make a charge.
Could be the last attempt though , failing which the case will be shelved.
Can”t see the PJ letting the McCanns see the files after all the interference
and certainly not for refusing to answer questions initiallyIMO

Actually I’ve never ever thought pinky has ever been on their side. His script is pre-supposed to say the least and he never diverts from it. He only ever talks about shape or form but never about a missing child. He’s another one who will want to recover his life after this has seemingly been dismissed. He’ll want a job in office but I suspect the door will be closed.
I couldn’t care less what happens to these people but what I would like is a day for Madeleine - a Madeleine Day - where we’ll never know what happened to children who didn’t survive this life - who knows for what reason.
The reasonI say this is because we were expecting a baby (I’m just the Aunty) and our little baby (9 days overdue,) died the day before she was born.
