Madeleine McCann: Scare Stories, Kate McCann’s Job And No Mari Luz
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY EXPRESS: “FIVE ATTEMPTED KIDNAPS LINK TO MADELEINE CASE”
“Detectives searching for Madeleine McCann are now investigating a spate of attempted child abductions across Portugal.
“At least five kidnap attempts have been reported in the past month, leading officers from the Madeleine team to examine the details for possible connections.”
What of the headline “link” to Madeleine McCann – well, the alleged attempted kidnappings all occurred in Portugal
But “Last week Justice Minister Alberto Costa revealed that the head detective, Paulo Rebelo, was coming to the end of his case”, says the WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER
Says Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “It’s alarming to hear that this sort of thing can happen, particularly in a country that is so aware of the potential for abduction”
DAILY MIRROR: “Maddy: 5 scares in Portugal”
Police searching for Madeleine McCann are also investigating five attempted child abductions in northern Portugal. They began when a nine-year-old girl was bundled into a car as she got off her school bus. Two more children were attacked last month and last Thursday two men tried to lure a girl of nine into a car. Last Saturday, another child escaped abduction. One police source said: “It is causing a lot of alarm.”
DAILY MAIL: “Madeleine McCann’s disappearance is ‘linked to a string of child abductions’”
Police investigating Madeleine McCann’s disappearance have been alerted over a spate of attempted child abductions in northern Portugal, it has been revealed. At least four children have been targeted in the last month in the region of Coimbra, where a nine-year-old girl escaped from an abductor in December.
It’s five children. The Express and Mirror both say its five
KATE McCANN: “Meanwhile, it is understood Kate McCann is quitting her job as a locum GP to devote her life to children’s charities. Mrs McCann has not returned to work since Madeleine’s disappearance in May and has reportedly told friends she feels she has a lot to offer charity organisations.
THE SCOTSMAN: “Torment of Madeleine’s family ‘is like being crucified’”
Kate McCann’s mother Susan Healey says: “It is almost like being crucified day to day. I read the most stupid things about Kate not crying enough or whatever”
Adding: “Kate and Gerry know they made a mistake and shouldn’t have left the children, they know that, but they certainly don’t deserve what has happened to them. If the Portuguese can’t find out what happened to Madeleine, we have to find out. There is no way Madeleine will fade into insignificance”
Gerry McCann is a “surgeon”
IRISH INDEPENDENT: “Missing Amy’s parents offer cash reward”
The parents of missing Irish expat Amy Fitzpatrick have offered a cash reward for information on her whereabouts. Franco Rey, spokesman for Amy’s Stepfather David Mahon and Amy’s mum Audrey, said: “A substantial reward is on offer to anyone who can provide reliable information on Amy’s whereabouts. Any information received will be treated within the strictest confidence.”
And:
Dubliner Mr Mahon (36) has also travelled to Tangiers in northern Morocco to investigate the possibility the teenager was snatched and taken to Africa.
Rewards have also been offered for missing Briton Madeleine McCann and missing Spanish girl Mari Luz Cortes. The family of five-year-old Mari Luz, snatched from her home in Huelva in south-west Spain on January 13, is offering €300,000 for information on her whereabouts. Rewards totalling £2.6m were offered within 10 days of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance on May 3 last year from the Algarve holiday resort of Praia da Luz.
TYPICALLY SPANISH: “parents of missing Mari Luz are against her image being used in a Madeleine McCann poster campaign”
Mari Luz’s father, Juan José Cortés, said after a meeting with Manuel Chaves, President of the Junta de Andalucía, this weekend, that, while he is not against collaborating in the search for Madeleine and ‘even helping to draw up a poster of all the missing youngsters,’ the lines of investigation into the disappearance of the two young girls are distinct, and are being carried out in two separate countries. EFE [Spanish news agency] said he is considering taking legal action for using his daughter’s image for the campaign.

Booking holidays for Summer 2008 - One place that wont even be considered by me or my nearest and dearest … Portugal no matter how hard we try to be impartial the very fact that this case has highlighted that its a haven for child abductions, dodgy orphanages, and corrupt police forces.

I presume you will be ticking good old RSA off your list in that case as well? By the time you’re finished with your little check-list, you may as well stay at home!

Morning all.
Still no news.
My fun today is going to be Al Fayed in court ranting about ‘fugging Prince Phillip’.
I love that word ‘fugging’, so very descriptive.
…………………….
BTW how come everyone here (but not the Spanish police) is 100% sure that Juan Cortes is NOT involved somehow in his daughter’s disappearance?
I find it strange that he doesn’t want her image on any posters…… surely one would do anything?
I also think its sad that the search for Mari-Luz will suffer because someone on Anorak is after scoring more points against the McCanns.
Not that everything we read is true of course!!

To be honest i don’t see how you could contain zeitgiest theory to it’s own thread. It’s no doubt going to find it’s way into any serious debate and quite right is should IMO. It would have been easy for me to log on to a place like infowars.com and talk there but it would be like preaching to the converted, wouldn’t it. That is not what Zeitgeist the movie was made for. People need to know they are being lied to on a huge scale. This is VERY important if we are to avoid mi6 concocting another 7/7 atrocity. I really care about people (even the French) and i am not going to sit by and say nothing this time.
ps. There are lots and lots of other documentaries like ‘Loose Change - final cut’ (which i am going to watch next) which contain the same info about 911.

Thanks. I’m sure that’s something that the Portuguese Tourism authority appreciates indeed.
I read that they’re trying to appeal to more culturally informed visitors and not the redneck fat drunken (often irresponsible) yob that seems to have a particular appetite for the shores of the Algarve and southern spain.
Visit Britain however seems to be facing some challenges convincing the Portuguses that Britain is a safe tourism destination - since every day a new kid is either stabbed or shot dead.

I posted that post before I read Ians post. I dont agree with him. For too long children have been suffered at the hands of church and state. I am behind the Mcanns 100% for highlighting this issue. Forget this shoving it under the carpet crap that Ian is apparently trying to force our Governments to engage in. I say bring it all out in the open and expose these keystone cops there is not a shadow of doubt that they performed a criminally incompentant investigation.

man on a hill - would you be interested in starting the thread on Zeitgeist, as suggested by Carmen?
February 18th, 2008 at 10:42 am
Morning gang
There’s been some new information posted in the SOS Madeleine Website (in French). http://sosmaddie.dhblogs.be/
Essentially:
- the parents of Mari Luz don’t want to be associated with the Madeleine case. The telephone number listed in the poster for Mari Luz does not seem to work (according to the blog). I’m sure that M3 will now have re-established the availability of the number - otherwise it would be a bit too obvious that they don’t really care too much about mari luz.
Interestingly, the blog is now quoting also British police forces as being “surprised” after receiveing certain report detailing the organisation that is supporting the McCanns (including IT, PR consultants, lawyers and others) and that suggests that not only two innocent doctors are behind this initiative.
The report also reveals that finding Madeleine was not the prime purpose of this campaign (it was discrediting the investigation) and that every single piece of public information released served a particular purpose. There is also the revelation that confirm that the phone calls made immediately after the reported disappearance go “well beyond” family and friends…
I wonder if there’s been any mention of this “report” elsewhere in the media, and if we know who actually prepared this (since it was said to come from “Information Services” but not from the Portuguese or British police.

Of course nothing like that ever happens here does it?
What child abductions? what dodgy orphanages? You have until 11.00am GMT to prove all your allegations and sources, other wise this post will be heavily edited to show how impartial you can be

Our government (UK) and especially the press compliants commission should curtail this anti-portuguese hype being fuelled by the McCanns.

I’m ‘afraid’ that the sensible people - those who realise that the McCanns are probably simply defending themselves against charges of neglect and job loss and illigal disposal of a corpse because their child died in a tragic accident when left unsupervised - will become labelled as ‘cranks’.
However, relax! I’m only saying that we might drift off the point and lose the real issues - already the Pro-McCann types were telling me to discuss abduction without mentioning the inconsistant stories of the T9! I’ll be told not to keep going on about MADELEINE next!

Saul, you can start the anti-Zeitgeist brigade! Think you are likely to be out-numbered by the pros eventually. It might help your view point if you took longer than 10 minutes to arrive at your conclusion.
As I have said earlier, I watched 1 hour 10 mins of it. I will watch the rest when I have some free time (like now ).
I am not anti Zeitgeist, just so far I have seen nothing new.
