Police searching for Madeleine McCann are also investigating five attempted child abductions in northern Portugal. They began when a nine-year-old girl was bundled into a car as she got off her school bus. Two more children were attacked last month and last Thursday two men tried to lure a girl of nine into a car. Last Saturday, another child escaped abduction. One police source said: “It is causing a lot of alarm.”

IRISH INDEPENDENT: “Missing Amy’s parents offer cash reward”
The parents of missing Irish expat Amy Fitzpatrick have offered a cash reward for information on her whereabouts. Franco Rey, spokesman for Amy’s Stepfather David Mahon and Amy’s mum Audrey, said: “A substantial reward is on offer to anyone who can provide reliable information on Amy’s whereabouts. Any information received will be treated within the strictest confidence.”

Rewards have also been offered for missing Briton Madeleine McCann and missing Spanish girl Mari Luz Cortes. The family of five-year-old Mari Luz, snatched from her home in Huelva in south-west Spain on January 13, is offering €300,000 for information on her whereabouts. Rewards totalling £2.6m were offered within 10 days of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance on May 3 last year from the Algarve holiday resort of Praia da Luz.

Mari Luz’s father, Juan José Cortés, said after a meeting with Manuel Chaves, President of the Junta de Andalucía, this weekend, that, while he is not against collaborating in the search for Madeleine and ‘even helping to draw up a poster of all the missing youngsters,’ the lines of investigation into the disappearance of the two young girls are distinct, and are being carried out in two separate countries. EFE [Spanish news agency] said he is considering taking legal action for using his daughter’s image for the campaign.

No I don’t. I suppose it’s possible but I can’t see it. Too many inconsistencies. As I have said many times before none of us knows what really happened ….yet. The whole thing stinks of gov intervention & I would sooooo love to know the identity of tapas 10th, if there was one. I don’t think the Portugese will shelve this, (I’m sure they know enough) if they do I will believe it is down to gov pressure.

Has anybody ever sent messages to the Mccans web (findmadeleine) inulting them?
I DID IT!!! Oh, oh… I know itsn’t polite and bad manners are not good but… I felt so good… One the times, I receive a mail back not from the, but from Metodo-3 saying: ¿quién eres? (who are you)?
And also, since then, i think my telephone is (pinchado) don’t know the word in English. YOu know what…

Is it true that the parents of the other missing children were expected to contribute to the cost of the distributed ‘Valentine’s Day’ poster campaign? ( read that in one of the articles pasted/linked here in the last day or so)
If that is so, then it was doubly wrong to go ahead without the permission of the parents.

Thank you very much Salomon for putting this article up here for us (sorry I know it’s a bit of a delayed reply, but just home from work).
I’m rather surprised at the Mc’s/CM’s surprise that Juan Cortes did not AUTHORISE the distribution of his daughter’s photo alongside Madeleine on the posters. If they (Mc’s & CM) did not have his (JC) permission in WRITING to distribute his daughters image, then they quite frankly did not have his authorisation to do so! For an image of a missing child to be distributed publicly, specific WRITTEN authorisation has to be obtained from the parent/guardian of that child. I would have thought this would be basic common sense (and particulary because those who initiated these posters have a “missing” child themselves?).
How dare CM say that it is SHAMEFUL that Mari Luz’s father complains about the press release? CM and his clients should start reigning themselves in, and realise that they’re not the gods and saviours for all missing children (they’re the last people who should think they’re appointed ambassadors for missing children), the parents of the other missing children also have feelings, and should not be subjected to the steam-rollering of the Mc campaign.
IMO of course.

I do believe that is the Cortes’s objection to having Mari Luz’s photo on a shared poster with Madeleine McCanns’ photo.
Even if the parents initially were willing to accept help from the McCanns, I personally think the McCanns and/or their team should have taken the time to consult with the Corteses and get their express approval for the poster distrihutions.
But still, you didn’t answer any of the question in the post of mine you referred to. I’m curious as to what you think.
