Police searching for Madeleine McCann are also investigating five attempted child abductions in northern Portugal. They began when a nine-year-old girl was bundled into a car as she got off her school bus. Two more children were attacked last month and last Thursday two men tried to lure a girl of nine into a car. Last Saturday, another child escaped abduction. One police source said: “It is causing a lot of alarm.”

The parents of missing Irish expat Amy Fitzpatrick have offered a cash reward for information on her whereabouts. Franco Rey, spokesman for Amy’s Stepfather David Mahon and Amy’s mum Audrey, said: “A substantial reward is on offer to anyone who can provide reliable information on Amy’s whereabouts. Any information received will be treated within the strictest confidence.”

Rewards totalling £2.6m were offered within 10 days of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance on May 3 last year from the Algarve holiday resort of Praia da Luz.

Mari Luz’s father, Juan José Cortés, said after a meeting with Manuel Chaves, President of the Junta de Andalucía, this weekend, that, while he is not against collaborating in the search for Madeleine and ‘even helping to draw up a poster of all the missing youngsters,’ the lines of investigation into the disappearance of the two young girls are distinct, and are being carried out in two separate countries. EFE [Spanish news agency] said he is considering taking legal action for using his daughter’s image for the campaign.

I’m sorry to be a pessimist, but I’ve just realised, even if the McCanns are tried, they can afford the best lawyers money can buy. Justice might never be done, but at least maybe a few of the fools who still support these weasels might change their opinions about Saint Kate & Saint Gerry.

I know some firms exist that can come to your home and check that you aren’t being bugged. Firms use their services all the time, I have seen a documentary about them, and they say that half the time they find something. I don’t know how expensive they are.
Still, if your phone is tapped, I don’t think that you can hear it. So maybe it is nothing to worry about.
She should ask for a new phone number, and see that her name and number aren’t in the phone book (together with her address). She should go to the police if she finds something strange. She didn’t do anything really evil. It was only insults on a phone line which the MCs probably don’t even listen to.

I don’t think there are clones of Maddie but I agree photos being passed off as being Maddie are not her. The one I thought was defo not Maddie was the one on the bike. I said this when it was on Anorak’s front page but nobody else could see it.
Could it be (just speculating you understand) that some of the photos are actually Jane Tanner’s child. Come to think of it - has anyone seen a photo of JTs child. If there is a direct connection, i.e. JT carried both children, then that family is in a very strange place and god help that child. Just speculation - right?
