Madeleine McCann: Melissa Fiering Sees, An Algerian And Waldo
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN (front page): “MADDIE SEEN IN FRANCE”
“Eye-defect girl in cafe” – Why do they stare, daddy?
DAILY MIRROR: “I SPOTTED MADDY AT CAFE IN FRANCE”
A picture of Melissa.
“’This is so significant because the girl noticed the blemish in the eye and it’s on CCTV for first time’ - McCANN FAMILY SPOKESMAN CLARENCE MITCHELL LAST NIGHT”
This is the Mirror’s “EXCLUSIVE THE HUNT FOR MADELEINE”
To France:
“The little girl was spotted in a motorway service station cafe by student Melissa Fiering, 18, who insists she clearly saw the distinctive flaw in her right iris”
Says Melissa: “My friend and I had music playing loudly out of our mobile phones and this little girl was dancing to it. It was only when I looked closely at her I realised it was Madeleine. She had a very thin face and her blonde hair had been cut much shorter, down to her jaw. But it was her”
Why so certain?
“I looked in her eye because I’d seen on TV that Madeleine’s got a defect in her right iris and I saw this girl had it. I could hardly believe my eyes but I knew for sure it was Madeleine. I called out her name and she looked up at me - she obviously recognised it”
Obviously. Dancing with a small child and then you shout out a name and she looks at you…
“But when I called out ‘Madeleine’ the man she was with got worried and started dragging her away from the queue”
The man with Madeleine is described as a “dark-skinned man, who was possibly Algerian”. Blonde girl with dark-skinned man. Like her?
What did Melissa do when he was spotted, this swarthy man?
“As he dragged the girl away he threw a white coat over her and pulled a woollen hat from his pocket and jammed it on her head. Melissa adds: ‘He didn’t say a word but as they got to the door he prodded the girl in the back. I tried to take pictures on my phone but I only got one and it was all blurred. I ran outside after them but they’d vanished”
Vanished?
“WE HAVE THE GUN THAT KILLED RHYS”
Rhys Jones was killed in Liverpool, shot by a youth on a bike
“Rhys’s mum Melanie, 42, and dad Stephen, 45, who have received a message of sympathy from Madeleine McCann’s family, issued a statement for tomorrow’s six-month anniversary of the shooting”
Why do we know this?
The message says: “We are still struggling to come to terms with the loss of our beautiful son Rhys. The pain we have had to face every day has been magnified by the poignancy of occasions like Christmas and Rhys’s 12th birthday. The last six months have been a living nightmare. All we want is justice for our son”
Rhys Jones is murdered in Liverpool. Rhys Jones was 11 years old. His parents are not suspects
DAILY EXPRESS: “MADELEINE IN NEW ‘SIGHTING’ AT RESTAURANT”
Dutch woman. A restaurant? Not a therapist. A student
The Dutch student is “100 per cent certain” she saw Madeleine McCann in a roadside restaurant in southern France
Says Melissa: “I called out ‘Madeleine’ and she looked up. The man with her was about six feet tall, with black hair, a black leather jacket and several days growth of stubble. He put on her coat and hat and bundled her away”
She adds: “I can’t stop thinking about it. I wish I had stopped that man. I wanted to pick her up, I am sorry I didn’t do that”
LIVERPOOL DAILY POST: “Madeleine McCann ’spotted’ in Southern France”
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: “Student claims to have sighted Madeleine McCann in France”
A reader comments: “Is this kid going to replace Waldo?”
ASSOCIATED PRESS: “French police investigating an alleged sighting of Madeleine McCann in southern France have determined it was not the missing British girl.
A police official says a Dutch tourist reported that she may have seen McCann at a roadside restaurant. Examining closed-circuit video footage, the investigators spotted a man and a young girl who resembled McCann, but determined it was not her.

Jolie 527. I agree with what you say but sadly it is always taken as ‘being personal’. IMO one has to beware of any evangelists….. they are driven by crusading.

Same in spain.
It happens the population in council estates or sort of is gypsy.
There arent real council estates here or very very few of them
They live in “chabolas” shantitowns is the closest traduction.
Lots of social problems….they are maintained in a state of survival and nothingelse.Better be in asia in a real shantitown

WTF - I have said right from the start, that if the child of ‘Tracey tower block’ had gone missing whilst she was out boozing, she would have been publicly crucified, as far as Doctors are concerned, just look at Harold Shipman for proof that not all doctors are what they seem.
And no, i don’t think that the McM supporters will see this as the same sort of case. For a start she probably doesn’t have gordie McBroon as a personal friend to call on in times of need.

It isn’t a great set-up but I wouldn’t read too much into the step-Dad being 22 - in some areas that’s old enough to be a Grandpa ( I think the youngest Grandmother in Britain is about 24??? - do you know Coolandcalm?).

The trouble with tackling these deprived areas is that the Right refuses to believe poverty is a factor and the Left refuses to believe that lack of discipline and standards is a factor - so they keep counter-acting each other and some (not all) council estates get worse and worse with every passing year.

Good evening all
It just had to happen did’nt it. The last couple of days have shown media headlines of the disappearance of Shannon Matthews.
But it appears the McClies must have felt out done by this. So what happens?
The obvious! They are suddenly grabbing the front pages again. Yes, believe it or not, another dramatic sighting of their daughter. This time in a busy service station restaurant in France. The obvious place to take a missing child who has been given world wide publicity but mitchy has the nerve to tell us how important and encouraging this sighting is. He tells us K & G want to study the tapes to see if it is their daughter. Now WHY?
Why do they need to see the tapes when they know damn well its not their daughter.
They already know what happened so they should stop the bullsh*t they are giving out as an attempt to hide the guilt.
Even GMTV had the hypocrisy to actually send a camera crew to the restaurant with a reporter.
I laughed so much I got stomach pains. What a bunch of pathetic fools they all are by trying to actually fool the level headed majority. But of course, there will be those who ARE actually fooled by it. Sad.
Still, I suppose the McClies are good entertainment and a guarantee for a good laugh.
A real good source for those who like fiction with a big splash of comedy included.
Not forgetting of course, to keep the sick bag close at hand.

It is also interesting to see peoples reaction as to what could have happened to her because of how rough and chavvy her mother looked! We automatically jump to conclusions. Being doctors does not make you good people, imo you would have to be quite hard and tough to deal with what they see on a daily basis, i couldnt do it, would break my heart. Will the mcc supporters be as understanding about this situation do you think?

Like you say jolie, each to their own.
I dont believe for one minute that Tony has spread lies. other people have pasted his list elsewhere obviously without doing their own research. Tony I know is happy for people to point out things to him, and I’m sure if the ‘list’ ever has to be produced for legal reasons, Tony will have made the corrections where applicable. He has already said he will find links etc to back up whats on the list, but not post it all in the forum.
If nothing else this whole thing is making people think and talk about all these issues, which cant be a bad thing. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes, but like I have said before, tony is only doing his best!

I somehow don’t think that Shannon’s disappearance has anything whatsoever to do with money, I think she may have run away from “something” in the home she was living in, in the hopes of finding a safe haven with her real dad. A 22 year old stepdad, with a 32 year old mother …… nononono …. something is wrong ….this kid is scard and petrified and is trying to desperately get away from something that is hurting her very deeply. IMO.

God, this C**p does make you start to wonder? The post i highlighted in my post asks if the people seemed ’shady’. I haven’t seen it because there wasn’t a link, but all this (imo) opens floodgates to all sorts, if Doctors can get away with it, you know what i mean….
February 21st, 2008 at 7:32 pm
The mccs neglected their daughter and lost her, in whatever way, yet they get the backing from the press etc. already shannons disappearance is creating suspicion because of her social background. Bet the press arent as sympathetic

In various different places I’ve read that the mother actually has a total of 7 children, some of whom don’t live with her and that Shannon has a twin brother who lives with the father. Some of this was in the Mirror - I can’t find the links for the rest of it because I wasn’t really paying attention at the time. She apparently talked to friends about wanting to run away/not go home. Doesn’t sound like a very good set up at all.
Also, the Mirror said that her brother had been given a computer for good behaviour (which I read somewhere else was to stop him from continually running away). Maybe she learnt that, if you run away, you get a computer.
But all that is not much help in knowing where she is now. She may well have run away but anything might have happened to her afterwards.
February 21st, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Shannon’s Mum is just a poor wee, not-very competent, socially-deprived Chav.
If Shannon didn’t run into a criminal, she’s probably died of the cold. (that sounds really horrible - I hope she turns up ok).

Didnt see the bit about the 22 year old stepfather, watched the early morning news before work, but i agree with you, alarm bells did ring. But is that just being snobby? Why did nobody jump to the same conclusion with the mccs, is it cos they are respectable people? Is it just middle class people that beleive the mccs version? Respect to you for being a social worker, you must have seen some awful sights

“However, police examining CCTV evidence have determined it was not the missing girl. ” - BBC Online.
Excuse, me, French police, what do you think you are doing, butting in here? Who gave you the right to decide if this was the missing girl? Don’t you know you are only one notch above the Portuguese police, which is not saying much? Unlike our fine, upstanding hard-working British police, for example, who have been sitting for months with a pair of self-confessed child abusers by neglect on their doorstep, just waiting for further orders, and ready to roll.
Besides, you’ve spoilt the lights, camera, action for our two suspects, ‘waiting anxiously’ for the CCTV ‘footage’ to be ‘rushed’ to them, so they could stage another scam scenario for the gullible, the craven, and the mentally obstructed.

Shannon lived with her mother, her stepfather, Craig Meehan, 22,
Someone said they thought they saw her crying earlier in the day.”
——————————————————–
The mother (who is 32) came across to me as a rather poor woman, looking very exhausted, and desperate for her daughter to come home.
However, the above two lines from the newspaper report, are the ones that’ve set my mode into suspicion. Sorry, but my trained eye does pick things like this up. I’m not prepared to make any direct accusations, but something is drastically wrong in this whole setup!

I am really not sure what it means at all.
What is clear is when it happens with the mirror clarrie gave a blabble about it.
Lets see if there is a new spin tomorrow on the subject.
It wouldnt surprise me at all but if there is no comments then we can speculate something serious is happening……only speculate.
Nothing surprises me anymore and it would be right after the fiasco sighting in france…..
I would not hold my breath either way
