Is Madeleine McCann Disappearing From The UK Press?
THE Anorak has been watching the media’s treatment of the Madeleine McCann story for some months.
The tragedy of a missing child was turned into a media feeding frenzy, a grim story with any gaps in the narrative plugged with speculation and voyeurism.
We were invited to become sleuths, armchair detectives working out who had done what and how. Nothing meaningful has been achieved by this. Madeleine McCann is missing.
Who cannot feel for those involved? Who would want to be them?
Now Anorak learns from a reader that the Madeleine McCann story may be disappearing from the British press, and newspapers’ websites.
Anorak’s team of moderators seeks to weed out libellous comments and anyone making accusations against individuals they cannot back up. We seek not to mirror the press but show you how the story is presented by media outlets to their audiences. Now read this:

I cant stand anything about the McCanns, their enterage and anything connected with them, but I really do think that to carry on creating issues on boards like these under the banner of that poor little girls name is getting a little obscene.

I cant stand anything about the McCanns, their enterage and anything connected with them, but I really do think that to carry on creating issues on boards like these under the banner of that poor little girls name is getting a little obscene. You are trivia writers - you have nothing to say about Madeleine McCann anymore because there is nothing to say anymore. In my opinion, the banter and the pathetic “I’ll have a wine” - etc. would be better placed on a blog about something just a bit less sad. the little girl who went missing after school 4 days ago - very sad - just how would her family feel reading a site with shallow minded posters - just waiting and wanting to pounce on the parents. Justice will eventually prevail with regard to the McCanns, but keeping banter like these boards is, in my opinion, pleasing the McCanns. Let it all lie for a few weeks and let the pj do their job without distraction - maybe then they will be able to bring charges against whoever is responsible

There are a whole lot of interesting folk around - look up some other blogs and maybe the facination of a missing kid will = like the media coverage - be removed from your minds and you will all get lives back. The McCanns have sure got themselves back to their suburban lives without much effort. I think that maybe the time has come to let her go - in more ways than one - it has occupied the boards for almost a year now - let her rest..

Yesterday McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell refused to talk about Amaral’s impending trial.
He said: “It is a matter for him and the judicial authorities in Portugal.”

“…The detective who originally led the hunt for Madeleine McCann will sensationally face trial over his conduct in another missing child case.
Chief Inspector Goncalo Amaral - who was in charge of the Madeleine case when her parents were made the prime suspects - will appear in court accused of covering up the torture of a suspect during questioning in the other case.
Amaral, 48, will stand trial along with four other officers - three of whom are alleged to have attacked Leonor Cipriano, whose nine-year-old daughter Joana vanished in 2004.
The little girl disappeared from her home in Figueira, 11 kilometres from Praia da Luz where Madeleine was abducted last May. …”
