Is Madeleine McCann Disappearing From The UK Press?
THE Anorak has been watching the media’s treatment of the Madeleine McCann story for some months.
The tragedy of a missing child was turned into a media feeding frenzy, a grim story with any gaps in the narrative plugged with speculation and voyeurism.
We were invited to become sleuths, armchair detectives working out who had done what and how. Nothing meaningful has been achieved by this. Madeleine McCann is missing.
Who cannot feel for those involved? Who would want to be them?
Now Anorak learns from a reader that the Madeleine McCann story may be disappearing from the British press, and newspapers’ websites.
Anorak’s team of moderators seeks to weed out libellous comments and anyone making accusations against individuals they cannot back up. We seek not to mirror the press but show you how the story is presented by media outlets to their audiences. Now read this:

Madeleine McCann is vanishing from the British Press
Every single story in the Daily Express and in the Daily Star regarding Madeleine McCann has disappeared.
This was the answer given by the Daily Express’ online editor, Geoff Marsh:
“Hi xxx, Many thanks for your email. For operational reasons, some articles previously available on express.co.UK have been temporarily removed. I’m afraid I can’t go into any more detail. Best wishes, Geoff”
And from the web team of Daily Express:
“Hi xxx
Many thanks for your email - and indeed your continued support as a regular reader.
I assure you, we do value you - and your input.
Daily Express
Due to operational reasons, a number of stories which previously appeared on express.co.uk have been made temporarily unavailable.Apologies if this causes any inconvenience or disrupts your use of our website.
I’m afraid I can’t go into any more detail.
However I would like to emphasise once again that we value your readership - and are grateful for your ongoing support of express.co.uk.
Best wishes
The Web Team”

Cadbury’s cream eggs are what my aunt sends me at Christmas. Also Crunchies (you can get everything else in Spain -Bounty, Mars, Maltesers, etc., etc.- but not Crunchies).

No one in the British press ever supported us Antis anyway.
How could we beat the views of Lorraine Kelly???
And I’m reliably informed the media doesn’t lie - it just doesn’t research.

By the Fabians??? The boring old - I believe in gradual change not revolution - old fart Fabians???
The couldn’t destabilise Ladies Day at Ascot.
Anyway Madeleine’s disappearance has had no political fall-out, it’s just yet another Human Interest story that’s more entertaining than reading things like the EU Reform Treaty or the minutes of your local council’s last meeting.

would guess that a poster went too far in the Express or Star, action was thratened and to be safe everything was pulled. It happens… same as the Mirror.
As Anorak knows I’m sure, there is a line that must not be crossed. Some try it here… Speculation is one thing, stating untruths as facts is another.
Hence I have problems with the Joana Morais blog being constantly quoted here. It’s a blog and its skewed to her views. Same as the Aussie guy.
I could write whatever I wanted about Madeleine McCann and all her relatives on my blog…. I could write absolutely anything at all to suit my own theories but it wouldn’t be facts, it would be my perceptions.
I’m sure the McCann legal team will be looking at everything everywhere and I have to say, I don’t blame them.
Google is a fantastic tool for litigants.
(cross posted)
What are you saying exactly? That Joana’s blog isn’t truthful? Until now what you see there are translations from Portuguese Newspapers to English, a few articles of opinion, mainly a collection of quoted texts from elsewhere, and it’s a blog far less biased than the British press. She is using her rights as a Portuguese and European citizen. I’ll refer you to the Portuguese Constitution Article 37, about the Freedom of expression and information.
1. Everyone shall possess the right to freely express and publicise his thoughts in words, images or by any other means, as well as the right to inform others, inform himself and be informed without hindrance or discrimination.
2. Exercise of the said rights shall not be hindered or limited by any type or form of censorship.
This is Portugal, not the UK. Proud to be Portuguese.

While Joana’s blog may not be ‘official’, we have found it to be free from hyperbole, and reliable in its content.
There are other blogs quoted on here where edits and deletions have happened with worrying frequency. Everyone is of course free to exact whatever information they feel is applicable, but the more stable and reliable the blog, the better.

You lot just aren’t getting my point are you. I gave you an explanation as to what is happening and received derision for my troubles. Well why don’t you have a good laugh at this, and then tell me how ridiculous it is to suggest that the M disappearance is an attempt to destabilize the UK and europe by the Fabians and Leninists. Chatham House is the last visible ring of corruption, ‘Common Purpose’ is the next one down and it’s huge. Bio-chips to be served shortly before you wake up.

Maybe it’s because the Express and the Star have been threatened with legal action from the McCanns lawyers if they don’t stop printing lies? Probably something as simple as that. They cannot resist lying about this family, so they just choose to not say anything at all.
And the people rubbing their hands with glee hoping the McCanns are going to be charged are deluding themselves.
Too bad these people are so stupid they believe all of the lies the Express and Star have been printing for months. They are just angry because they don’t have anyone in the media backing-up their stupid theories anymore.

I thought it was quite sad when the press started using the younger photos. Imagine being considered less cute cos you’re 3 rather than 2 or 1.
Where does that leave all of us??? We must be total hags who would get no public sympathy whatsoever.

Ummm…had a chocolate soy shake this morning. Add a tiny bit of Stevia and some unsweetened cocoa to the mix, and it’s quite palatable! Blend with 1/2 frozen banana(san peel, of course).
Ok, maybe this case IS going to court…or maybe even the imaginative media are running out of things to report.
If the story fades and disappears - maybe the culprit(s) will feel safe to stick their noses out the door again. With all this publicity, it’s a good time to HIDE! (and create smokescreens).
If it is going to court - great. A decision and closure would be welcome.
And again - maybe we wouldn’t have heard anything if Maddy was found in the lake or elsewhere - I can imagine the mob of the ghoulish public who would disrupt the scene.
Prayers and good thoughts for a decisive outcome.

Poor you - that is a difficult ex to be around.
Don’t put up with it though - he has to take ultimate responsibility for himself - emotional blackmail is not on.
Besides he wont get better while he has an audience for his self-pity (I’ve met a lot of actors like that - while you sympathise they’re wracked with colds and stomach aches and heartaches - the minute you get curt with them they go back to learning their lines and not tripping over the furniture.
)

Im sure if the McCanns really wanted the lake searched, they would have funded it. If anything its probably the last thing they want done!
***************************
The fund is to raise money, they will not want to be seen spending money looking for a dead body because the public won’t subscribe to that.
It amazes me how they release photographs that no longer resemble madeleine BUT they do look cute! which could raise larger amounts of money than later photos.
