Shannon Matthews, Madeleine McCann And Haut De La Garenne
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
EVENING STANDARD: “MAN HELPING IN SEARCH SHANNON MATTHEWS ‘CRUCIFIED’ JUST YARDS FROM MISSING GIRL’S HOME”
A man helping in the search for missing schoolgirl Shannon Matthews is believed to have been crucified outside his house just yards from the nine-year-old’s family home.
Police are investigating the alleged assault of a 43-year-old man who neighbours claim was nailed to a wooden cross through his hands on Sunday night, and some locals claim the attack is related to the hunt for the missing girl.
And the McCanns?
Meanwhile, the McCanns, whose daughter Madeleine disappeared from their holiday apartment in the Algarve last May, have pledged their support to Shannon’s parents.
Writing in his personal online blog, Gerry McCann, said he and his wife Kate were praying for her safe return.
“No matter what has happened to Shannon, there is no doubt she is extremely vulnerable,” he added. “We hope she is found safe and well soon and returned to her family.”
Will the McCanns be called upon to comment on every missing child?
YORKSHIRE POST: “Agencies face abuse inquiry in wake of body find”
Police are searching a former children’s home Haut de la Garenne where they discovered a child’s skull. Police are now searching six more sites at the building now used as a youth hostel.
Police are using Eddie, who works with South Yorkshire Police as an “enhanced victim recovery dog”.
Eddie is said to have picked up traces of missing Madeleine McCann in the back of a car which her parents hired five weeks after she disappeared.

Actually, that has reminded me of something I’d forgotten. In the 60s, my family lived in a village in Cambridgeshire and the gypsies visited once a year - can’t think why. We kids used to go and look at their camp from a distance.

There is not one single mention anywhere on this site of the Madeleine McCann case, how very strange.

I think I read about it in the Guardian - they were doing a liberal/left mea culpa.

So Eddie is top dog again is he? If I was the PJ I’d be keeping a very close eye on the situation in Jersey and the accuracy of Eddie’s findings.

It wasn’t mainstream - it was the radical liberal-left (it showed up in things like the OZ Magazine School-kids Issue obscenity trial) - but it wasn’t challenged by anyone and I think it informed the policies of things like the social work department.

“Regardless of what the McCanns have done, if one of my kids went missing (God forbid), I definitely wouldn’t start collecting.”
Not that something’s wrong with your decision, but you should be aware that it would turn public opinion against you if you wouldn’t call for donations - as if you were not interested to do everything you can. Add to this insufficient public grieving - and sooner as you expect you are a public suspect.
A search font is a matter of etiquette nowadays.

In 2003, builders also found bones buried next to some children’s shoes. They were handed to police but officers decided they were animal remains.

I remember the 70s though I was quite young. I don’t remember anything like that. In fact, I don’t think I ever heard anything about child sex or incest. (Although I must admit that I didn’t know what oral sex was until quite some years later!)
I don’t doubt that you’ve seen this information in books but really I don’t remember it like that at all. My daughter (who’s 20 - ?about your age) showed me a book which said how hard it was in the 70s for women to have a university education - I don’t remember it being difficult, most of the girls from my school went on to university - but she was adamant that the book must be right. So she obviously just thinks that I’ve got pre-senile dementia!!

Don’t recall anything of that kind in the 70s. I lived in England until 1977.

Bellfield given ‘whole life’ term
A man who murdered two young women and tried to kill a third has been given a “whole life” sentence.
Levi Bellfield, 39, from west London, bludgeoned Amelie Delagrange, 22, and Marsha McDonnell, 19, after they got off buses in south-west London.
He was also found guilty of trying to kill Kate Sheedy, then 18, and has been named as a prime suspect in the murder of schoolgirl Milly Dowler.
Bellfield refused to attend his sentencing due to “bad publicity”.

It was the time for a lot of freedom at all levels but I am not sure having sex with children was “a la mode” at all but I do agree children have always been abused and generally by a relative and/or people close to the family

YES FOLKS, KATE CANNOT FIND A JOB IN “CHILD CARE” BECAUSE WHO WOULD WANT A SUSPECT IN THAT POSITION?
She is still lurking to impose herself on desperate patients just like Gerry “the whitenosed” McCann.
MCCANNS DISMISS JOB REVELATION
10:30 - 19 February 2008
The mother of missing Madeleine McCann has not quit her job as a GP, a spokesman said today.
It follows a national newspaper report which said Kate McCann had handed in her notice to devote her life to working for children’s charities.
The People’s article said the 39-year-old plans to combine “charity commitments” with caring for twins Amelie and Sean, three.
However, the story has been dismissed by the family’s spokesman, Clarence Mitchell.
He said: “Nothing has changed. Kate has never been back to work as a GP and has no intention to go back at this time.
“She is a locum GP - she is essentially freelance - and you cannot resign as a freelance.”
Mr Mitchell said Kate was not being paid while she was not working.

If you’re evil enough to murder lots of innocent women, you’re probably evil enough to mock their families.
