Shannon Matthews, Madeleine McCann And Haut De La Garenne
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
EVENING STANDARD: “MAN HELPING IN SEARCH SHANNON MATTHEWS ‘CRUCIFIED’ JUST YARDS FROM MISSING GIRL’S HOME”
A man helping in the search for missing schoolgirl Shannon Matthews is believed to have been crucified outside his house just yards from the nine-year-old’s family home.
Police are investigating the alleged assault of a 43-year-old man who neighbours claim was nailed to a wooden cross through his hands on Sunday night, and some locals claim the attack is related to the hunt for the missing girl.
And the McCanns?
Meanwhile, the McCanns, whose daughter Madeleine disappeared from their holiday apartment in the Algarve last May, have pledged their support to Shannon’s parents.
Writing in his personal online blog, Gerry McCann, said he and his wife Kate were praying for her safe return.
“No matter what has happened to Shannon, there is no doubt she is extremely vulnerable,” he added. “We hope she is found safe and well soon and returned to her family.”
Will the McCanns be called upon to comment on every missing child?
YORKSHIRE POST: “Agencies face abuse inquiry in wake of body find”
Police are searching a former children’s home Haut de la Garenne where they discovered a child’s skull. Police are now searching six more sites at the building now used as a youth hostel.
Police are using Eddie, who works with South Yorkshire Police as an “enhanced victim recovery dog”.
Eddie is said to have picked up traces of missing Madeleine McCann in the back of a car which her parents hired five weeks after she disappeared.

Wow, I have really missed you. How’s it going? Did your family intervene and separate you from Anorak?
February 26th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Look
Don’t you think it would be a good idea for them to simply go back to Portugal & answer all/any questions that the PJ wish to ask them in order to help them find their daughter?
Then….whoosh. Everyone would be in no doubt of their innocence.
Good idea???
After all they have nothing to hide…do they?

veritablequandary / Fair,
If you dialup a phone number, it’s not free, but it’s cheap.
If you use an email adress, it’s free.!\

When I connected with a colleague in Switzerland, summer of 2006, it was free.
I think I just entered a phone number on my computer. (My memory may not be that good.) I do remember that one time it worked like a dream and the next time an hour went down the drain. One of my students talked all the time with her in-laws in Ecuador. For free! It was a simple download.

773 - I agree with you LOOK -
The vast majority of normal everyday people are behind Kate and Gerry in their search for their daughter. However there is a sad minority of people who live sad miserable lives looking for companionship on internet sites such as Anorak and Sun etc. who share little else in common than to stir up hate sites ad nauseum and run polls among themselves who nobody in their right mind would subscribe to only themselves thus giving them the answers only they would provide. such is the 80% said this and 90% said that.
What they fail to see is that its 80% of a very small minority of sad people who spend day and night week in week out seeking solace in their world of hate.
I wonder if the reason that I am finding it difficult to post this comment to Anoraks site has to do with some form of censorship employed to shield the minds of the from the real world (?)
Maybe I will just copy it and record the number of attempts etc and send it to the daily scoop as an example of online censorship on such sites as this or maybe I will try and post for the third time and see does M&A remonstrate me accordingly.
Of course I could say something nasty about the Mcanns, that is sure to get my post on the forum….

I agree Dee and I think you’ll find someone else is too if you’d care to LOOK
The comments are quite funny. I only just started to read tonight’s comments, saw LOOK’s first post and thought it was genuine.
I’ve read all his/her posts together and they’ve used every ludicrous word that we’ve all used.
I’m convinced it’s someone having a laugh!
The pinkies are much much more insulting and bitter when posting on a board where someone dares to disagree.
Anyway, the pinkies are all trying to bring Youtube to its knees today. They’ve all been given a list of videos to report in an attempt to get them removed

Xclamation, blaming Kate and Gerry isn’t going to help find Madeleine, is it?
The McCanns have done an absolutely amazing job in publicising Madeleine’s abduction. The more people who know about it, the better. Someone out there somewhere must know something. There have been several sightings of Madeleine. These can’t be coincidences. I strongly believe that she is out there somewhere and will be returned to her loving parents, safe and sound.
Kate and Gerry are wonderful parents. Many of their friends and family have confirmed this. We can’t imagine the pain and guilt they must be feeling now. That is punishment enough. Insulting them on a website will not bring their daughter home.

I’ll ask again. You being a parent (as you’ve declared) and an avid follower of the McConn’s think it is okay to leave children 3 and under unattended in an unlocked appartment in a foreign country.
Yes or no will be sufficient , you don’t need to say anymore.

SKYPE is a way to connect up free on the internet, one to one, but also groups.
I have used it alot. When I connect with EUROPE (from North America) it’s kind of touch and go but lots cheaper than paying the phone company. Great success in linking to Latin America. I haven’t used it for several years, so maybe it’s no longer free.

“retained their dignity” ???? Don’t make me Laugh! They sold their daughter as a brand, something to be commercialized. That’s low and despicable. And they tried to get money from the poor Cortés family for the so called posters, and didn’t even bother to ask the Cortés family permission. By the way, there is no sign of the famous posters in Huelva or Gran Canarias, so another “dignified” used of others misfortune. Look you should really open your eyes.
I leave you with this an opinion article by Francisco Moita Flores:
Maddie and Mari Luz
Mari Luz disappeared from a public area. Maddie and her siblings were abandoned by their parents [...] they were exposed to chance
“Every time that a sequence of violent acts occurs, whether homicides, abductions, or terrorist acts, the first exercise that our common sense memory does, is to search for communions and to make analogies that tend to generalistic judgements that puff up one or another solution. When these facts have a strong impact within the media, the level of certainty that is formulated increases even more. It is therefore hardly surprising, that the disappearance of Mari Luz prompted the search for identifications with the Maddie case, leading to the comfortable and opportunistic theory that there are connections between both cases, both being the victims of a sexual predator.
There do not exist. Although close in time, they are absolutely different cases. Beginning with the space where the facts took place. Maddie disappeared from the room where she was sleeping, alongside her siblings, inside the apartment that belonged to her parents, even if only for the duration of their holidays. Mari Luz disappeared from a public space. The time coordinate is also different. The English girl disappeared during the night, the Spanish girl disappeared during the day. The location is also different. Mari Luz disappears in a street of her neighbourhood - and those who know this area in Huelva, know that we are talking about a poor community, of degraded housing or modest construction, which is inhabited by persons with financial difficulties, where the street is used by its inhabitants as a playground. To play on the streets in Torrejon is a socially normal action, there are neighborhood relationships, the bonds of social mutual recognition are evident. It is normal for a mother to send her child shopping. According to the daily behaviour patterns, it cannot be said that the parents abandoned Mari Luz. That space is the community’s territory. Maddie and her siblings were abandoned by their parents, in a foreign country, in a quality resort but, due to their short stay, that was strange to them and to their children. They went out to drink while the children were delivered to chance. But within a safe, controlled unit, without space for an abductor to act naturally. The public space is where abductions take place, by excellence. On streets, in shopping areas, on beaches, or when large crowds meet in open air. The private space, the home, is the territory of love, of violence, of tenderness and of death. But this is not where differences end. Mari Luz’s parents immediately communicated the case to authorities. The police heard about Maddie long after the English diplomacy and Sky News did. The parents of Mari Luz expose themselves, in their suffering and distress, to the police and to the media. Maddie’s parents chose to make emotional appeals but without a coherent explanation about what happened. They brought in a spokesperson to tell the press what it wanted to hear, but themselves, when it was time, refused to talk and left. The organised web never wanted to discuss the case’s details. They chose to insult the PJ and the country that gave them shelter.
The truth, the sad truth, is that two children went missing. One, almost certainly, is dead. The other, the authorities still hope to find her alive. I hope they will. Unfortunately, these are not the first cases, and they will not be the last ones. They are cases from our common life. Unfortunately.”

What? I have been away for a few hours, I come back, turn on my computer, and I learn that Clarrie is a saint!!!
Clarrie, a saint!
Wonderful news. He’ll have his pink statues in churches all over England, maybe in Portugal, Spain, and perhaps France, too.
And don’t you dare insult Look’s religion. Her religion gets the saints it deserves.
