Madeleine McCann In A Taxi ‘With Murat’, Denied And Shannon Matthews
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE SUN: “Maddie & Murat ‘in a cab’”
Portuguese taxi driver claims Madeleine McCann was in his cab the night she vanished — with Robert Murat. “Antonio Cardoso, 67, insisted he took the little girl and four adults on a short journey to a hotel where they all switched to a Jeep with foreign plates.”
Says he:
“I later recognised him on television. I am sure it was him…She was awake but silent. She was just staring ahead with big owlish eyes. I noticed her eye because my son was born with a defect much the same. I saw her kind of twist her chin a few times in my rear-view mirror. I remember she was in pink pyjamas and wondered why they hadn’t dressed her.”
Says McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “We are dismissing this primarily because the timings are entirely wrong.”
IRISH EXAMINER: “Taxi driver claims he picked up Madeleine”
Antonio Castela, 67, said he dropped off the missing girl and her English-speaking mystery companions at an Algarve hotel and watched them drive off in a blue jeep. He insisted he was “100% sure” his passengers included Madeleine.
The McCanns and Robert Murat — the third official suspect in the Madeleine McCann case — all deny wrongdoing”
Kate Mccann is a “GP” Kate and husband Gerry a “heart specialist”
TIMES: “Forget Happy Meals, let’s focus on happy families”
Sandra Parsons looks at “The greatest gift of all”:
It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, and those of us lucky enough to have children can expect to be given cards and flowers. But with Madeleine McCann and the schoolgirl Shannon Matthews still missing, Milly Dowler’s stricken parents making a heartrending appeal for information about their daughter’s murder, and the reminders again of the brutal killing of young women by Steve Wright and Levi Bellfield, I rather think it should be the other way round.
DAILY MIRROR: “Mother vows never to give up in the search for missing Shannon Matthews”
Shannon Matthews’s mum yesterday said she would never stop searching for her daughter. Karen, 32, fighting back tears, said: “We will never give up on her. It is more than a week and we are desperate to have Shannon back. Our message to people is never give up because we won’t”
Adding:
“We’ve shed a lot of tears. “It was really emotional seeing people walking through the streets with us to support our family. I was overwhelmed by the turnout. Now we just want Shannon found. We just pray she will be found safe.
YORKSHIRE POST: “Police quiz 1,500 drivers in hunt for missing Shannon”
A reward. Like Madeleine:
As the investigation enters its second week, Joseph Furniture, based in Bradley, Huddersfield, has put up a £5,000 reward for any information that leads to Shannon’s safe return.
In a statement the firm said: “As a company that was founded in Dewsbury and a former employer of Shannon’s uncle, Neil Hyett, we feel a social and moral responsibility to aid with reuniting Shannon Matthews with her beloved family.”
DAILY STAR: “SHANNON HUNT AT MUM’S ‘DIGS’ - HOME OF FAMILY FRIEND SCOURED”
The house where missing schoolgirl Shannon Matthews’ mum is staying was searched by police yesterday. Officers with sniffer dogs trained to find human remains were sent in to track down clues to the nine-year-old’s disappearance.
The house in Dewsbury, West Yorks, belongs to family friend Peter “Scouser” Brown, 34, who lives just a few doors from Shannon’s mum Karen and her boyfriend Craig Meehan, 22.
Shannons’ parents are not doctors. There is no media feeeding frenzy.

Please God they keep it quiet!
My late mother use to go mad with the competition for cafod boxes.
The one who got the most money won a prize.
‘Never let your right hand know what your left hand is doing’
She used to say ( not innuendo)
(Just be discreet in your charity, prayers, and do gooding)

1264 Spongebob
Yes, they have a right not to answer, but the less they help with the inquiry, the longer it will take for them to have their arguido status lifted.
I find it bizarre that they don’t answer a number of questions. I wish I knew what questions they aren’t answering! But it is their right, even if it doesn’t give a good impression as regards their innocence.
Maybe they are innocent but don’t trust the PJ. They will feel more confident with the English police, and let us hope they’ll answer. Or maybe they want some things kept unknown from the police, and rather than lying, they don’t answer.
We’ll see! Good night Spongebob!
(I don’t know much about cartoons, but Spongebob Squarepants, I do know…)

Interviews are allowed but suspect, real suspects, not like the legal status that the McCanns have, still have the legal right to refuse to anwser questions.
What should we do otherwise..it is the only reasonable way to conduct interviews.

“[…] If Madeleine was murdered, or “accidentally” died in the course of something utterly illegal like, just for instance, just for an example, having sex with a very young child, then….I’d say the motivation to cover up such a death with an abudction hoax would be high. Just an opinion and speculation. […] Anyone who’d done such a thing would take great pains to make it look like an abduction, because they would not a coroner to examine her body.”
****
Oh Zjeez, yes … that was actually the first thing that came to mind sometimes last June … an accidental death … and no coroner, please . I also wrote a couple of months ago “I recognize a paedophile when I see one”, but was - fortunately - completely ignored then
IMO & alledgedly

You could hold the answer
You could make a fortune
You could be the one to end so much misery in the world
You could…….
Oh you were completely ignored……

I don’t think I have been in any way rude to you, or behaved in any way that resembles being a ‘troll’. I am not saying you are saying that I have been, but I don’t see why the troll behaviour is relevant to the discussion we are currently having.
So, if you agree with the above, then can I make the following (hopefully reasonable, though possibly not agreeable to you) responses without fear of being called a troll..
‘What I find strange is that some “pros” will call me a monster because I want the Pj to be able to investigate on a case which took place in their country. ‘
- I don’t - the PJ have every right to investigate. Then they have the responsibility to follow the legal process by attempting to convict, or to drop any suspicions (normally in the UK it would be drop charges but there are not charges with this case and the ‘arduigo’ status being based on a law (at that time) which requires no evidence at all)
‘We don’t even know what evidence they have, because of the secrecy laws. All the PJ have done is ask questions to the parents and witnesses, as they should, and given them the arguido status, which is their right.’
- Yes, and the witnesses have the right not to answer. Defended by International Law. And there is no reason to expect that to change.
‘We don’t even know what evidence they have, because of the secrecy laws’
You are right - we don’t know the evidence, that’s why I do a lot of fence sitting.
‘Contrary to what is said here by the trolls, most of us don’t wish to take the law into our hands at all, we just want the law and justice to prevail.’
- Agreed
‘But the press, the Pr, the public, can’t stand it. The MCs claim that they are victims, that the PJ is hopeless, while they organise their private investigation and do a lot of spinning. The press conference with the sketches was extraordinary! The anti-PJ campaign, for someone on the outside like me, has been astonishing. ‘
-Yes, but for a minute, try to put the shoe on the other foot, and imagine that they are innocent… If I was and thought I was being framed, then…
…this last point simply depends on perspective and there is nothing to influence that but yourself.

1240,Garth….the fact you braught it up whilst discussing mccnans, trying to equate it with this case, or why else?…
—————
Well for a start you completely taken it out of context. You asked why the McCanns had so much publicity?
The point which I seem to have failed when i said this …….
ember when Jamie Bulger went missing. There was a public outcry wasnt there?
I hate to say this as well but people really feel for little innocents! And by that I mean tots. Dont get me wrong we all feel the same for any youngones but the innocence of toddlers really hits people hard.
The point is the age of the child. Nothing more.
