Madeleine McCann In A Taxi ‘With Murat’, Denied And Shannon Matthews
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE SUN: “Maddie & Murat ‘in a cab’”
Portuguese taxi driver claims Madeleine McCann was in his cab the night she vanished — with Robert Murat. “Antonio Cardoso, 67, insisted he took the little girl and four adults on a short journey to a hotel where they all switched to a Jeep with foreign plates.”
Says he:
“I later recognised him on television. I am sure it was him…She was awake but silent. She was just staring ahead with big owlish eyes. I noticed her eye because my son was born with a defect much the same. I saw her kind of twist her chin a few times in my rear-view mirror. I remember she was in pink pyjamas and wondered why they hadn’t dressed her.”
Says McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “We are dismissing this primarily because the timings are entirely wrong.”
IRISH EXAMINER: “Taxi driver claims he picked up Madeleine”
Antonio Castela, 67, said he dropped off the missing girl and her English-speaking mystery companions at an Algarve hotel and watched them drive off in a blue jeep. He insisted he was “100% sure” his passengers included Madeleine.
The McCanns and Robert Murat — the third official suspect in the Madeleine McCann case — all deny wrongdoing”
Kate Mccann is a “GP” Kate and husband Gerry a “heart specialist”
TIMES: “Forget Happy Meals, let’s focus on happy families”
Sandra Parsons looks at “The greatest gift of all”:
It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, and those of us lucky enough to have children can expect to be given cards and flowers. But with Madeleine McCann and the schoolgirl Shannon Matthews still missing, Milly Dowler’s stricken parents making a heartrending appeal for information about their daughter’s murder, and the reminders again of the brutal killing of young women by Steve Wright and Levi Bellfield, I rather think it should be the other way round.
DAILY MIRROR: “Mother vows never to give up in the search for missing Shannon Matthews”
Shannon Matthews’s mum yesterday said she would never stop searching for her daughter. Karen, 32, fighting back tears, said: “We will never give up on her. It is more than a week and we are desperate to have Shannon back. Our message to people is never give up because we won’t”
Adding:
“We’ve shed a lot of tears. “It was really emotional seeing people walking through the streets with us to support our family. I was overwhelmed by the turnout. Now we just want Shannon found. We just pray she will be found safe.
YORKSHIRE POST: “Police quiz 1,500 drivers in hunt for missing Shannon”
A reward. Like Madeleine:
As the investigation enters its second week, Joseph Furniture, based in Bradley, Huddersfield, has put up a £5,000 reward for any information that leads to Shannon’s safe return.
In a statement the firm said: “As a company that was founded in Dewsbury and a former employer of Shannon’s uncle, Neil Hyett, we feel a social and moral responsibility to aid with reuniting Shannon Matthews with her beloved family.”
DAILY STAR: “SHANNON HUNT AT MUM’S ‘DIGS’ - HOME OF FAMILY FRIEND SCOURED”
The house where missing schoolgirl Shannon Matthews’ mum is staying was searched by police yesterday. Officers with sniffer dogs trained to find human remains were sent in to track down clues to the nine-year-old’s disappearance.
The house in Dewsbury, West Yorks, belongs to family friend Peter “Scouser” Brown, 34, who lives just a few doors from Shannon’s mum Karen and her boyfriend Craig Meehan, 22.
Shannons’ parents are not doctors. There is no media feeeding frenzy.

Are you sitting comfortably? then I’ll begin…Once upon a time we had a poster known as Frances Wicks who was very very very loyal to her good friends the Drs McCann. Who would not entertain the idea that leaving children was wrong and who slagged off all comers…this continued for many weeks.
One day she made a fatal mistake , she admitted to being in someone’s pay to say that she supported the McCanns. However in fairness she did also say that it was not Anorak who paid her, as he was too broke.
However she was banned for posting under Anoraks name and then attempting to pose as his wife.
But you could hear a pin drop and cut the atmosphere with a knife

I think I meant to say interprovincial. Sorry. Also apparently, it’s cheaper than normal if you phone from a mobile abroad because it’s the same rate as if you were phoning from Spain. As far as I can see, all the telephone companies offer them so there will presumably be a pricing difference. But definitely not premium.
February 28th, 2008 at 12:27 pm
Who cares about the cost of the phone call????????
Do any of us have any information????
No!
If you see Maddie or have any info then your probably on the McShite’s payroll so effectively, they’re paying for the call anyway.

I already asked : didn’t Clarrie clearly say he was wishing for the interviews to take place as soon as possible, since he thought the arguido status would be lifted as a result of them ?
“Pros” and “antis” should be equally pleased that some better understanding of what happened can be expected from those interviews. Surely, the “pros” aren’t fretful ; nothing to be afraid of, with the British, non-bungling, non-boozing, police asking the questions, in plain, clear English.

julie sorry I meant to say ..diverge..,my mind is warping…..

delboy, I did not feel good about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance when I read about them .. something is just very wrong (think you know what I mean). But now the fact that she’s been missing for over a week is just not good. Children who run away are not clever enough to outsmart the police for very long and are usually found very quickly, but that there’s been absolutely no trace of Shannon is bad, very bad.
Yes, it’s rather hot over here, a bit too hot at the moment as it’s mid afternoon.

A less expensive way would be to look up the number of your local police station and ring them, after all if anyone has information, surely the police can pass it onto PJ
+++++++++++++++++++++++
The reason I asked LOOK the question was because of the following extract from the Code of Practise on premium rate numbers:
The promotional material for fundraising (whether or not for
charitable purposes) and charitable promotions must make clear:
a either the total sum per call or the amount per minute which
will be paid to the beneficiary,
b the identity of the beneficiary,
c any restrictions or conditions attached to the contribution
to be made to the beneficiary.

thanks for that advice dcb, we were finding out what her obligations are in that respect, and as she hasn’t fulfilled them we shall now edit out the number (although if anyone did have info ring the local nick would be most peoples option)

902 numbers are not premium rate in Spain. Basically, they appear to be charged like provincial calls (calls within your own province but outside your immediate municipality). There are different types but they are not premium. I don’t know how it works for people who have some kind of flat payment that includes all calls to fixed phones.

I am all for ignoring the posters you are talking about.
Yes they are just wind up merchants, unfortunately some people fall for there banter, they cannot defend the mccs at all if they do, then they support child neglect whichever way you look at it.

Does anyone else get the scent of burning Wicks about today?
Frances - la petite-poule - are you truly there?
Knock twice for No.
Just knock off the 30 pieces of silver for Yes.
