Madeleine McCann In A Taxi ‘With Murat’, Denied And Shannon Matthews
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE SUN: “Maddie & Murat ‘in a cab’”
Portuguese taxi driver claims Madeleine McCann was in his cab the night she vanished — with Robert Murat. “Antonio Cardoso, 67, insisted he took the little girl and four adults on a short journey to a hotel where they all switched to a Jeep with foreign plates.”
Says he:
“I later recognised him on television. I am sure it was him…She was awake but silent. She was just staring ahead with big owlish eyes. I noticed her eye because my son was born with a defect much the same. I saw her kind of twist her chin a few times in my rear-view mirror. I remember she was in pink pyjamas and wondered why they hadn’t dressed her.”
Says McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “We are dismissing this primarily because the timings are entirely wrong.”
IRISH EXAMINER: “Taxi driver claims he picked up Madeleine”
Antonio Castela, 67, said he dropped off the missing girl and her English-speaking mystery companions at an Algarve hotel and watched them drive off in a blue jeep. He insisted he was “100% sure” his passengers included Madeleine.
The McCanns and Robert Murat — the third official suspect in the Madeleine McCann case — all deny wrongdoing”
Kate Mccann is a “GP” Kate and husband Gerry a “heart specialist”
TIMES: “Forget Happy Meals, let’s focus on happy families”
Sandra Parsons looks at “The greatest gift of all”:
It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, and those of us lucky enough to have children can expect to be given cards and flowers. But with Madeleine McCann and the schoolgirl Shannon Matthews still missing, Milly Dowler’s stricken parents making a heartrending appeal for information about their daughter’s murder, and the reminders again of the brutal killing of young women by Steve Wright and Levi Bellfield, I rather think it should be the other way round.
DAILY MIRROR: “Mother vows never to give up in the search for missing Shannon Matthews”
Shannon Matthews’s mum yesterday said she would never stop searching for her daughter. Karen, 32, fighting back tears, said: “We will never give up on her. It is more than a week and we are desperate to have Shannon back. Our message to people is never give up because we won’t”
Adding:
“We’ve shed a lot of tears. “It was really emotional seeing people walking through the streets with us to support our family. I was overwhelmed by the turnout. Now we just want Shannon found. We just pray she will be found safe.
YORKSHIRE POST: “Police quiz 1,500 drivers in hunt for missing Shannon”
A reward. Like Madeleine:
As the investigation enters its second week, Joseph Furniture, based in Bradley, Huddersfield, has put up a £5,000 reward for any information that leads to Shannon’s safe return.
In a statement the firm said: “As a company that was founded in Dewsbury and a former employer of Shannon’s uncle, Neil Hyett, we feel a social and moral responsibility to aid with reuniting Shannon Matthews with her beloved family.”
DAILY STAR: “SHANNON HUNT AT MUM’S ‘DIGS’ - HOME OF FAMILY FRIEND SCOURED”
The house where missing schoolgirl Shannon Matthews’ mum is staying was searched by police yesterday. Officers with sniffer dogs trained to find human remains were sent in to track down clues to the nine-year-old’s disappearance.
The house in Dewsbury, West Yorks, belongs to family friend Peter “Scouser” Brown, 34, who lives just a few doors from Shannon’s mum Karen and her boyfriend Craig Meehan, 22.
Shannons’ parents are not doctors. There is no media feeeding frenzy.

Thanks for that link, very interesting.
Yes 1 in 10 is a hell of a lot. I found the type of upbringing very telling. what about the kids that didn’t have that ”type” of upbringing though? Are they included in the 1 in 10? If they are then it is more worrying than I thought.

So 9 out of ten did not become offenders…. 1 out of ten is a small ratio
——————————————–
1 out of 10 is far too many for my liking! And that is only the ratio for the children who were sexually abused! There is also the other children who grew up in physically and mentally abusive situations!

you think 10% is a small ratio….thats means there are hundreds if not thousands of abusers out there. One is too many as far as im concerned.

Each and every poster here has known (at some stage) or knows a child abuser - you may not realise that they ARE a child abuser, but it’s a darn scary thought! They are evil, cunning and manipulative people, and they can hide their “true face” away pretty darn well from those that they don’t want it to be seen by.

K9. Narcotics dogs are trained with pseudo-narcotics, what do you use to simulate human remains?
DK. Well firstly, we actually use real drugs to train with now. With regards to the human remains training we use a cadaverous pig. A dead pig is the closest you will get to a dead human

And how many abusers came from normal, loving homes? Plenty I bet. That mum on Skye news yesterday , the one that can’t even look at her own kids naked, could never ever abuse because she knows just how awfull it felt when she was abused

‘Roughly one in 10 male victims of child sex abuse in a U.K. study later went on to abuse children as adults’
sorry but that works out to be one hell of a lot of abusers out there

I really couldn’t agree more.
Last evening I had the following thought:
How wonderful would the world be if the human race had not evolved, can you imagine, just plants and animals!

Sex-offenders are the modern monsters. They surely are monsters, but what do you think of a guy who puts his girlfriend in a dustbin, pours petrol over her (alive) , and sets her on fire, of two or three big young guys who torture an old lady to take her belongings, of a crowd of youngsters who kill a man in front of his wife and children because he takes a picture of a lampost in “their” area etc… The list is long, we just have to read the newspapers.
They all are horrible people. Does it mean that we are the ones to decide about their sentence and enforce it? Does a civilised society torture criminals? Is it because those criminals torture and kill, that we have to become like them? My answer is : No.

“I think we are assuming they are guilty”
Well that does seem a good starting point, but lynch mobs do not bother about the legal technicalities too much.
(and perhaps we should incorporate the word “Prove” rather than “Assume” !)
And unfortunately there are well documented cases where the alleged victim has been ‘proved’ to have made up all or significant parts of the story. I had several examples in my own professional life.

I think statistics show that abused kids very very very rarely go on to offend themselves.
———————————-
Fair, I really don’t agree with this statement. It’s not the case. A very large portion of abusers were themselves abused as children. I’m not saying ALL abused children become the abusers in their adulthood but it is one of the hugest contributing factors to an adult being a child abuser.

I do not think you are right. I think it has been shown that most abusers have been abused themselves.

349 - what is the lesser of two evils? them getting abused in prison for what they did, or more innocent kids being abused and then going on to do it when they are older too?
=============================
Oh, don’t get me wrong, the cycle of abuse must be stopped.
I think what I’m saying is that in some extreme circumstances punishment may be wrong, that someone who has suffered to that extent should perhaps for the first time in their miserable existence be placed somewhere that they are safe from metering out or receiving further abuse and for the first time in their life be properly cared for.
As for the genuinely nasty perverts chop off their bollocks and keep them locked up for the lowest possible cost for as long as is needed.

DK. When a person dies, the body automatically begins decomposing. The rate of decomposition depends on the conditions. If a body is buried it will be slower than if it were in the sun. If it is mummified, the process will be even slower as the covered body will be less susceptible to the decline induced by heat, or the presence of insects.
K9. What is it exactly that the dogs trace?
DK. The decomposing body is liquefied from the inside, by enzymes in the muscle tissue. This causes the body to swell, and give of the gas Hydrogen Sulphide. This what the dog will pick up on. There is H2S, present elsewhere in the atmosphere, which is why we use the pig. So that the gas is not taken in isolation and the dog is more familiar with what it should be seeking.

It is a difficult dilemma, isn’t it? If the victim, “Pamela”, can’t look at her children naked, then she is doing them irreparable harm. They will think there is something truly shameful about their bodies. However, who could blame her for reacting in this way? By the same token, it could be said that the abused who go on to offend themselves should also be offered some compassion.
Maybe some compassion should be offered whilst keeping them well away from society until they are safe (if ever). What a tragic world!

Portuguese police will arrive in Britain within the next ten days to reinterview friends of Kate and Gerry McCann over the disappearance of their four-year-old daughter, Madeleine.
David Payne, Jane Tanner and her partner Russell O’Brien are set to be quizzed first in a last-ditch attempt by cops to crack the mystery. Police will then decide whether to requestion other members of the so-called Tapas Nine, it was claimed.

In fact they are so scarred by what happened to them that it would be the farthest thing from their mind, as Just_me pointed out re the Jersey victim.

Rockhopper, I know I sound very uncaring with my answers, but YES if a person is going to be a threat to a child and it is a known fact, they simply MUST be removed from society.
