Madeleine McCann In A Taxi ‘With Murat’, Denied And Shannon Matthews
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
THE SUN: “Maddie & Murat ‘in a cab’”
Portuguese taxi driver claims Madeleine McCann was in his cab the night she vanished — with Robert Murat. “Antonio Cardoso, 67, insisted he took the little girl and four adults on a short journey to a hotel where they all switched to a Jeep with foreign plates.”
Says he:
“I later recognised him on television. I am sure it was him…She was awake but silent. She was just staring ahead with big owlish eyes. I noticed her eye because my son was born with a defect much the same. I saw her kind of twist her chin a few times in my rear-view mirror. I remember she was in pink pyjamas and wondered why they hadn’t dressed her.”
Says McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell: “We are dismissing this primarily because the timings are entirely wrong.”
IRISH EXAMINER: “Taxi driver claims he picked up Madeleine”
Antonio Castela, 67, said he dropped off the missing girl and her English-speaking mystery companions at an Algarve hotel and watched them drive off in a blue jeep. He insisted he was “100% sure” his passengers included Madeleine.
The McCanns and Robert Murat — the third official suspect in the Madeleine McCann case — all deny wrongdoing”
Kate Mccann is a “GP” Kate and husband Gerry a “heart specialist”
TIMES: “Forget Happy Meals, let’s focus on happy families”
Sandra Parsons looks at “The greatest gift of all”:
It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, and those of us lucky enough to have children can expect to be given cards and flowers. But with Madeleine McCann and the schoolgirl Shannon Matthews still missing, Milly Dowler’s stricken parents making a heartrending appeal for information about their daughter’s murder, and the reminders again of the brutal killing of young women by Steve Wright and Levi Bellfield, I rather think it should be the other way round.
DAILY MIRROR: “Mother vows never to give up in the search for missing Shannon Matthews”
Shannon Matthews’s mum yesterday said she would never stop searching for her daughter. Karen, 32, fighting back tears, said: “We will never give up on her. It is more than a week and we are desperate to have Shannon back. Our message to people is never give up because we won’t”
Adding:
“We’ve shed a lot of tears. “It was really emotional seeing people walking through the streets with us to support our family. I was overwhelmed by the turnout. Now we just want Shannon found. We just pray she will be found safe.
YORKSHIRE POST: “Police quiz 1,500 drivers in hunt for missing Shannon”
A reward. Like Madeleine:
As the investigation enters its second week, Joseph Furniture, based in Bradley, Huddersfield, has put up a £5,000 reward for any information that leads to Shannon’s safe return.
In a statement the firm said: “As a company that was founded in Dewsbury and a former employer of Shannon’s uncle, Neil Hyett, we feel a social and moral responsibility to aid with reuniting Shannon Matthews with her beloved family.”
DAILY STAR: “SHANNON HUNT AT MUM’S ‘DIGS’ - HOME OF FAMILY FRIEND SCOURED”
The house where missing schoolgirl Shannon Matthews’ mum is staying was searched by police yesterday. Officers with sniffer dogs trained to find human remains were sent in to track down clues to the nine-year-old’s disappearance.
The house in Dewsbury, West Yorks, belongs to family friend Peter “Scouser” Brown, 34, who lives just a few doors from Shannon’s mum Karen and her boyfriend Craig Meehan, 22.
Shannons’ parents are not doctors. There is no media feeeding frenzy.

Brandon, I think that is a very unlikely hypothesis. Would you like some tomato soup?

Maybe
She died before getting her to a hospital and they brought her back.

I certainly hope that they don’t send this Venom Coaker (?Gov Health Sec) in to teach the children. Looking at his photograph, I think they children could be left severely traumatised!
Anyway, 4 years of age is much too old. The video should be left running in the delivery room!

I do tend to trust Eddie about 103% more than I would the cab driver.
The child with the four adults could have been dead (despite the fact that he says she was ‘awake’ and had her eyes open - BTW, how close was he to her if he saw the eye defect?).
But that also goes against Eddie’s findings because the corpse would have had to have been in the apartment a while beyond death for him to scent it.

The other two men in the taxi, if there is any credence to this story, would solve the case at a stroke. I will give you a hint, perm any 2 from 3 none are British, no more than a possibility, but none have cast iron alibis.

I wasn’t being sarcastic.
I am a believer in looking at all sides.
That’s why I’m interested why Ian seems to have changed his mind.

I think the cabby got an earlier night!
What night did she runaway from the apartment ?

I know your question was to Ian, but -
- aren’t we here to consider all possibilites?
Also, as Ian said, the fact that Clarrie has only ‘lightly’ dismissed it, saying just that the timing is wrong, makes me suspicious that there might be something in it.

Wheres will ?
Why does it always come back to sausages with this case?

Re statement 2: 1 in 10, according to the link put up earlier. Which probably makes statement 1 just about correct.

It doesnt make sense..
As Clarence has immediately discounted the taxi driver story one has to consider that it may well have something to it. What were these doctors up to!

Earler you thought that the taxi story was rubbish. Are you now saying that maybe it holds water?
I don’t know, just wondering why you have changed your mind.
February 28th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
If this isn’t an indication of how out of touch with public opinion the powers that be are, I don’t know what is.

361 Julie and Fair…
I’d just like to point out that these are two very different statements:
1. Most people who commit child abuse were abused themselves
2. Most people who are abused as children will become abusers
I think Fair’s statement was that (2) is false, and the rest of you seem to be responding as if Fair had said that (1) is false.

Say it did happen on an earlier day - I can understand why the adults did not speak except to say ‘how much?’. They might have all been subdued because of what they were up to, they might have not wanted to give away their English language or accents or whatever - but why was the child so quiet? The driver said she was awake. Perhaps she was mildly sedated - valium, for example - so that she wouldn’t speak or cry?
February 28th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Of course, it would be very difficult to mistake the skeletal and un-motherly Kate McCann for Robert Murats more attractive and rounded ex-girlfriend - but no so difficult to mistake the good doctors pal for Robert Murat! How very interesting - what have those people been up to!

”And unfortunately there are well documented cases where the alleged victim has been ‘proved’ to have made up all or significant parts of the story. I had several examples in my own professional life.”

With this in mind would you be happy for a (truthful) child of yours to go through the police, court process & take what the prosecution may throw at them, possibly coming away more scarred than when they went in?

Someone who has been abused who then refuses to look at her own naked children may well be fearful that, if she does look, she may want to abuse them as well. She probably would not do so, but harbours that desperate fear nevertheless. Many children from abusive homes become what we call “abusers” but, to them, it is “normal”. They are doing exactly what they have been exposed to throughout their childhoods. I believe Fred West was brought up in a dysfunctional family where incest was regarded as normal and I think there are many families where such a situation goes back for
generations. Many paedophiles apparently do not think there is anything wrong with what they do.

‘[...] With regards to the human remains training we use a cadaverous pig. A dead pig is the closest you will get to a dead human [...]‘
Well, if the ’six corpses’ excuse is disproven, KM can always change the story and say that the smell of death (hydrogen sulphide) got on to her clothes when she was loading the rotting pork into the boot of the car.

Each and every poster here has known (at some stage) or knows a child abuser - you may not realise that they ARE a child abuser, but it’s a darn scary thought! They are evil, cunning and manipulative people, and they can hide their “true face” away pretty darn well from those that they don’t want it to be seen by.

BF, the article in this link ( http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23444010-details/Portuguese+police+will+fly+to+UK+to+interview+three+of+Tapas+9+over+Madeleine+abduction+stories/article.do )
has been largely lifted from the SOS article by Duarte Levy.
Mr Levy is well known for his cavalier approach to facts.
Perhaps of deeper interest is that the taxi driver never mentioned Kate McCann, he said ” the woman appeared to be the child’s mother”.
If the tapas group, as has been claimed before never checked at all until 9.45, does the fact of there still being questions over Robert Murat and his Girlfriends (blonde) alibis, have a bearing.
The link or story may well be correct, but without an official comment who knows.
