Kate and Gerry McCann reacted with fury yesterday after divers began a second search of a reservoir for Madeleine’s body.
The couple told friends the search - funded by a Portuguese lawyer who they claim is a “fantasist” seeking publicity - is a distraction from the hunt.
Marcos Aragao Correia claims crime contacts told him she was killed and left in the lake two days after going missing.
Says a McCann “source”: “There’s no evidence Madeleine is in that reservoir. They believe she is alive and are concentrating on finding her.”
IRISH INDEPENDENT: “Divers search remote Algarve lake for Maddy.”
Says Mr Aragao: “If I was Madeleine’s parents, I’d want to be helped. It may not be the outcome they want if I find Madeleine, but it’s important for them that they find out what happened to her and recover her body if she is dead. There may be genetic evidence on the corpse that could help the police discover who killed her.”
Indeed. Any more clues? Can the paper help?
A Portuguese lorry driver told Metodo 3 he saw the German girlfriend of Madeleine suspect Robert Murat handing over a child in a blanket to a mystery man in Silves, a five-minute drive from the reservoir, on May 5 last year.
Michaela Walczuch has claimed she is being framed to protect the McCanns and denied any involvement in their daughter’s disappearance. She has never been made an official suspect and has only ever been quizzed as a witness.
So why mention it?

Karen can’t bear the thought of telling her Shannon has disappeared so she has said she’s on holiday. “She has got so much to worry about already that she just can’t risk upsetting Courtney.”

Yesterday, Karen tried going in to Shannon’s bedroom for the first time since the nine-year-old went missing three weeks ago after a school swimming trip in Dewsbury, West Yorks. But she was overcome with emotion.

An anonymous donor has given £10,000 to the appeal to find her.

The Sun has up its reward from £20,000 - to £50,000. But if a reward of £2.5million has not been not enough to find Madeleine McCann, what good is $50,000?
How is the reward amount set? Is consideration given to the victim’s social status, the competition for headlines, exchange rates?
Leon Rose, Shannon’s father: “No-one can imagine the agonies we are going through. She is a wonderful daughter and we need her home. We are desperate to have her back and we thank The Sun for helping.”
An offer from the heart? Or a hollow offer, a PR-induced offer to get the Sun mentioned?

4.07pm - A family disco is being held to raise funds for the Shannon Matthews appeal. It will be on Thursday March 13 from 7pm to 10pm at Staincliffe Cricket Club.

2.23pm - A sponsored walk to raise money for the Shannon Matthews appeal has been announced. It will begin at 6pm tomorrow (Tuesday) at Moorside Road.

Garth: The Clan are not policemen. They do not know how to run a police investigation. They cannot even look after their own child. It is not up to them to dictate where and when to look anymore. They tried all that in the first few weeks and had the World running ragged. ‘They went thataway’!
You must come to terms with the fact that these people wake up with bad breath in a morning and have to use toilet tissue to wipe their asses. They appear to be made of blood and bone and have a very average life-style. They are truly not worth you sticking your neck out for.
They have committed acts considered to be crimes in PDL. Anyone for babysitting?
Masses of police officers from many different countries with different laws, with different technology with different dogs have said that the Clan are talking bollocks. The bollocks that they have spoken has been considered enough to have them made prime suspects.
For this reason, they will all be re-interviewed and given another chance to put some pieces in the jig-saw.
Note that the young filly, Philomena in her pretty frilly clothes told us that K had been offered a lenient sentence and loads of other details about the case but would not comment on the weird way G behaved when asked if he knew RM.

Certainly it would. But you should have told that those who donated to the fund before they decided to do so.
Same way you can start to argue about every penny we spend for our pleasure. Should it not all be donated for a good cause instead?
Those who donated to the fund were affected by the personal fate of exactly this little girl. There is some moral injustice in it, but shouldn’t we be sovereign to decide whether to allow ourselfes for some moral injustice, i. e. spending our spare money the way we like it, and not the way it would be morally desirable?

I have to confess that I often look through the various postings for information re the Madeleine case. Sometimes I am rewarded & find some worthwhile info.
More often than not I read yet more hateful diatribe towards the McCanns. I am absolutely amazed that so many people can be so vitreolic towards them. OK their biggest mistake was to leave their children in the first place but how many parents could honestly put their hands on their hearts & say they had never made a decision that potentially could end in disater. I certainly couldn’t.
Why are so many of Anorak’s posters so negative - even hateful - with very little reason apart from the original error. Maybe they believe that they are being protective towards children which of course is right. But the McCanns have 2 more children. If their Mother is destroyed in this hate campaign & she proves to be innocent - what further tragedies will unfold.

That would get them onto the headlines again.
They could have dinner in their garden (that seems to be acceptable) and thye could tell everyone when they are going to do it, so an abductor could slip in and woosh clunk!

BF - re 199. I was very confused. I got a phone call from an Anorak poster. I thought it was Ciara because I had been talking to her all evening. It never entered my head that she didn’t know my number!! In fact I don’t think anyone knows my number but it was definitely somebody from Anorak that called. Of course, they were too scaredy cat to leave their number.
