Gordon Brown Is Victor Kiam Channelling Gerald Ratner
“GORDON Brown today gives Britain his personal guarantee he will save the nation from financial meltdown.”
The guarantee is not for all time, and a glance at the small print, and a look at the opinion polls, shows that it will be voided at the next general election. There is also no money back guarantee and if the economy breaks you cannot have a new one.
This is Gordon Brown’s “special vow”. This Gordon Brown doing his impression of Victor Kiam when everyone else is sounding like Gerald Ratner.
He “urges the nation to put its faith in him”. If we all believe enough, we can make it. You just have to believe.
“The British people know this is going to be a tough year,” says Gordon. “They are already feeling the pinch with their shopping and fuel bills.”
The use of the third person plural makes you wonder who Gordon is addressing in his column? The impression that he is talking to the mirror.
“But they know that the Labour government has got he economy though tough times in the past.”
They believe. But do you believe, Gordon? Yes, Gordon, I believe…

June Johnson’s comments are right on the money; governments undoubtedly have made distinctly dumb decisions but so have the people, and the financial institutions.
Bear Stern is the firm which hired Howie Rubin a few days after he acquired his world record at Merrill Lynch. It takes real flare to lose $250,000,000 on a single trade, but Howie managed it.
Oh, those were the days…

Well Ali, it seems that they do. Here in the USA following like a flock of sheep seems to be the new measure of how patriotic a person is, whatever crap we are fed we are supposed to gulp it gleefully down and ask for more.
Also I cant fully agree that Gordon and his merry men are the most incompetent government, try living under Bush for a while
They are probably the most incompetent British goverment for a long time though, of course the governments of Heath and Wilson could give them a run for their money in the pure stupidity stakes.
It’s said that you get the government you deserve, what did we do to deserve these idiots?
It must have been bad

Wasnt it Gordon Brown (as Chancellor) who incompetently sold off Britains Gold Reserves for a mere pittance to pay for Tony Blairs Illegal Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan ?
Isnt it true that those reserves (at todays prices ) would be worth 300% more than he got for them ?
Isnt it also true that Gordon Brown and New Labour are the most Incompetent Government that this Country has seen for around half a Century ?
AND THEY THINK THAT WE ARE ABOUT TO FOLLOW THEM WITH BLIND FAITH JUST LIKE A FLOCK OF SHEEP ?

Maybe look at the whole financial picture? and responsibility for personal choices too. Granted live for today, pay tomorrow can be kept under control by government edicts, but then what about freedom of choice? For some bankruptcy can be more by accident than design, and whatever happened to that old saying ‘cut your coat according to your cloth’?.
This cannot all be down to government, some of it is personal responsibility.

Yeah Right!!! It was the government”s negligence in allowing the banks to lend
house buyers over 100% of the value in the first place, and as usual the public pays.
Need another 5 billion to tide you over, no problem………..
