700: Iran Invades Cornwall’s Holy Site
“WHY 700 Iranians have descended on Cornwall.”
The reason is… Well, let’s see if you can guess. And do note that the headline appears in the Daily Express. Is it:
a) To look for blonde children?
b) To act as surprise witnesses at the Princess Diana inquest?
c) Because the Cornwall Tourist Board has twinned the shire with Tehran?
d) Because it reminds them of home?
The answer is d), although we should not discount any of the other options, nor option e) - To slaughter the locals in their beds in a revenge attack for the film 300.
To Cornwall. As the Express says: “Villagers in Porth, Cornwall, usually hear nothing louder than the sound of seagulls or the lap of the waves on the beach.”
Or, indeed, the gentle pssst!-pssssst! of a drug dealer, the soothing hum-hum-thrppp of a jetski race or the uep-eup-eup of young bucks and their lady friends decorating the streets in a lively technociolur yawn.
But hark! Tis the sound of the Islamic Students’ Association broadcasting prayers to the masses.
The 700 are gathered for a six-day celebration of “Iranian and Islamic culture”. And the rugged scenery of Cornwall “reminds them of the region that saw the birth of their religion.”
Cornwall’s Christians have been in the area of centuries for similar reasons. Not for no reason is the Trevelgue Holiday Park is one of the world’s foremost Holy sites…

Proud to be a Cornish Pagan!
We accept and delight in all religions in Cornwall; where incidentally local “Pagans” still openly practice at the old stone circles and at other sacred sites, the only problem it seems with the “Persian” celebrations was the dawn call to prayer waking a few of the locals up!

Blimey that’s a bit strong. First of all that film 300 was utter rubbish in portraying Iranians as Black-headed barbarians. The Greeks got away with entrapment, and the history is so biased it is unbelievable. Fact is that the Persians did brun Athens, and once the Greeks were part of the Persian Empire, they learnt how to build columns and understand all about hydrology and mathematics, where the Persian, who were using the zero, were way way ahead.
But enough of that. There is one thing that is very interesting in Cornwall, which does link to a common religion that existed way way before Christianity, and that is the Spring Festival. I know that Cornwall is one of the rare places in Britain one can see stone circles and the folks in Cornwall do have a Fire dance in the Spring. Those are linked to the ancient rituals that link all Indo-European races. We in Iran called it Zoroastrianism. Christians give it the horrible name Pagan.
So Happy Nowrooz or Spring and please do not misrepresent us.
