I bought a pair of fabric shoes (chinese) and within 20 minutes of putting them on - had the most frightening allergic reaction - not anaphylactic shock - but most terribly unpleasant. I tracked down the symptoms to poisoning from one of the pyrethrins which are used extensively in China in the fabric and export industry.
