Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat’s Relief
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “Murat: It’s big relief”
Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat, 34, last night spoke of his joy that he looks likely to be officially cleared in days.
After having his computers returned, he said at his Praia da Luz home last night: “I’m so relieved.”
No mention of the Mirror’s super sleuth Lori Campbell who fingered “weird” Murat.
DAILY MAIL: “Murat could soon be cleared as Madeleine suspect after police return his possessions”
Even his computer - with the Sun’s “kid porn”.
His lawyer Francisco Pagarete said: “The police received an order from the public prosecutor to give everything back to Robert. All his items have been returned. We believe it is another step towards his clearance as a suspect. It’s a good sign.
“But we will have to wait and see. There is nothing official saying his status as an arguido is being revoked.”
Even if yesterday the Sunday People had “CLEARED” him.
No word from the The Mail’s Neil Sears, who told us: “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.” Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Robert Murat close to being cleared over Madeleine McCann disappearance”
Robert Murat has moved a step closer to being cleared as a suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance after police returned possessions seized from him 10 months ago.
Says hi mother, Jenny Murat, 74: “Every single item that the police took has been returned to us. Of course we hope it means Robert’s arguido status will be lifted shortly. But we’ve had no official confirmation that that is the case and we’re not getting too excited.”

Spot on. Although I have no doubt that there was no abduction, if there were, it would have been caused (almost engineered!) by the McCanns.
Anyone who believes these people were so stupid as to go around the resort actively publicising their flawed child care arrangements and that they were ‘naive’ is a foolish person.

You are becoming tiresome now - you refuse to answer questions or become rude and agressive when challenged…you need to grow up.

Bugger off then and come back when ’something happens’

I have just been reading all the posts this morning and noticed that some posters (Garth, Maria) want to separate the two issues of “neglect” and “abduction” from each other, pointing out that they should be studied intdependantly and that the abduction issue is the main one.
I find it abstract to separate them as in reality they are completely tangled. The most caricatural example of separating them is G. saying that they wish they had been there when it happened. This example shows how the two issues are actually one, since there would have been no abduction (or disappearance of the body) if the parents had been there, supposing we go by the theory of abduction, which is what they want us to believe.
If we keep both issues in sight, we have to think of the parents as people who are “naive”, “trustful”, or “neglectful” -whatever- enough to leave their small children alone night after night. I am not measuring their guilt, just their frame of mind. Of course, it casts a doubt on their reliability as parents, and on their will to obey the common rules as regards children’s safety. In spite of their grief, which I don’t doubt, the feeling that they could let their little girl cry for hours at night while dining out is very disturbing, and gives another image of them.
Because they were too casual doesn’t necessarily mean they are wrong in assuming the little girl was abducted, but knowing how “naive” they are, we can have doubts, all the more because there is also room for doubt for other reasons that the PJ know better than me. I certainly will not state that they are guilty, but I will certainly not blindly agree with their will to be judged innocent, regardless of the questions that haven’t been answered yet. I will wait until I know more.
The way they took care of the children is to me directly linked to the case, and what it says of their views on children’s safety can’t be ignored, even if it has to be kept as just an indication on how they think, judge, and act. It is not a question of condemning them, it is a question of understanding who their mind works.
I certainly do not cleave the case in two.

The day ‘witnesses’ can be sued for finger-pointing will be the day justice dies. No more identity line-ups for a start.
Robert Murat is free to sue the papers if he wishes.
However, if, as you say, he ISN’T ‘a money grabbing, fame hungry blah blah blah’ he wouldn’t have approached Max Clifford the first week he was made an arguido! It was Max who refused to take him while he was an arguido!
