Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat’s Relief
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “Murat: It’s big relief”
Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat, 34, last night spoke of his joy that he looks likely to be officially cleared in days.
After having his computers returned, he said at his Praia da Luz home last night: “I’m so relieved.”
No mention of the Mirror’s super sleuth Lori Campbell who fingered “weird” Murat.
DAILY MAIL: “Murat could soon be cleared as Madeleine suspect after police return his possessions”
Even his computer - with the Sun’s “kid porn”.
His lawyer Francisco Pagarete said: “The police received an order from the public prosecutor to give everything back to Robert. All his items have been returned. We believe it is another step towards his clearance as a suspect. It’s a good sign.
“But we will have to wait and see. There is nothing official saying his status as an arguido is being revoked.”
Even if yesterday the Sunday People had “CLEARED” him.
No word from the The Mail’s Neil Sears, who told us: “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.” Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Robert Murat close to being cleared over Madeleine McCann disappearance”
Robert Murat has moved a step closer to being cleared as a suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance after police returned possessions seized from him 10 months ago.
Says hi mother, Jenny Murat, 74: “Every single item that the police took has been returned to us. Of course we hope it means Robert’s arguido status will be lifted shortly. But we’ve had no official confirmation that that is the case and we’re not getting too excited.”

Good Afternoon All
Stevo - why do you think the Express settled out of court? I thought they would rather go to court. If someone took the McC’s to court for let say, child neglect, it would be up to that person to prove it, am I right?, therefore if the McC’s took someone else to court, wouldnt it be up to the McC’s to prove the Express headlines / stories are untrue. I dont get why the Express group gave in so easily and made the statement that the McC’s are innocent. Maybe they do have something up their sleeve.

I don’t believe that.
However, they had their chance and refused to answer a number of questions. They also had the chance to remain in Portugal and face whatever was necessary to help with the investigation of their daughter’s ‘disappearance’. They have had every opportunity to return to Portugal since September and do likewise. This refusal to co-operate in the investigation of what happened to MM speaks louder than words.
My view is that the PJ will test their theories against the answers and revised answers of the other witnesses and then, either, they WILL interview the parents, or, they will compile their case solely on the basis of what they have and what has been provided by the witnesses.

You’re mental. Totally and utterly bonkers.
I never said the McCanns will be reinterviewed.

it amazes me that people who have never had to claim benefits for one reason or another are somehow under the impression that having children in britain today with the high cost of living is somehow a great picnic

Is better for them to be questioned in Court.

Ok, we know then the following stories:
1. The Swinger story.
2. The “Madeleine sold” story.
3. We Didn’t Kill our Madeleine.
4. Mum fury at “You Killed Her” headline.
5. Madeleine: Police - We Know Who Killer Her.
Well, the Express were silly to print contradictory stories. Saying M was killed and saying she was sold are at odds with each other. But…what if the PJ do know who killed her if indeed she is dead?

The mother of murdered British teenager Scarlett Keeling has been granted police protection following fears for her safety, she has said.
Her lawyer Vikram Varma has said it seemed Ms MacKeown was in danger because she exposed a “nexus” between the drug mafia and Goan police, and that had affected the drugs trade. - BBC.
It’s that nexus again.
Is Ms Mac. in danger because of the drug/police nexus, or because some people are really, really angry about her child neglect?
Moving back home, is Ms McInnocent in danger, and has she been granted police protection, because of the metodo drug nexus, or because some misguided people are really, really angry about her child neglect?
If these mothers would only discharge their parental responsibility of care in the first place, they wouldn’t need protection.

Certain rabid Tory MP’s should be shot on sight. IMO.

I say again, No Stevo you have been misinformed, the McCanns will not be questioned the prosecutor refused to sanction it.
THE MCCANN’S WILL NOT BE QUESTIONED

So 83% of what Express Newspapers printed was not ‘false’?
Might not be 103%, but that’s pretty damn damning!

Look in EMM News Explorer. It is a great site for collating newspaper stories from keywords. It has many Explorer headlines but the links go to blank pages on the Express site.

I’m not misinformed. I read very well thank you. Clarence Mitchell made a comment alluding to the fact that the McCanns would have no problem if they were reinterviewed. This was a “voluntary” comment about being reinterviewed and was made before the articles were mentioned by the Public Prosecutor.

Last year (circa Nov/Dec) the Express published a book about the McCann case. It was really a collated version of all those daily headlines they ran. Look and I’m sure you’ll find info about it.
March 24th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
Stevo… (again I clicked too soon!) Private Eye listed many of the Express headlines some time ago when it was taking the p*ss…. I don’t keep copies but they must be out there. and didn’t Anorak do the same?

Matt.
Yes I know. What if the Express have had some information from a source who has had to remain silent up until now? What if Murat is released from Arguido status and then he goes to the Express and tells his story?
The action by the McCanns looks more and more like a last-ditch desperate move to me.

Stevo and Matt
404 and 405
I realise it was the finances that prompted this action (and also the deadline), but by opening their gobs once again, they have provided the PJ (and probably, the newspaper group) with more fuel for their fires.
This time, their actions - what is included in their suit, what isn’t - might speak even louder than Clarrie’s loudest words of spin.
March 24th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Stevo… what book was that? I didn’t know the Express published books….. I’ll try and get it if poss.

Yes Gandy. Your friends via CM have offered to co-operate with the new questions. But…like their offer to take a lie-detector test which was then withdrawn, I doubt they really mean they would like to co-operate. Their offer just looks good in print.
