Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat, 34, last night spoke of his joy that he looks likely to be officially cleared in days.

No mention of the Mirror’s super sleuth Lori Campbell who fingered “weird” Murat.
DAILY MAIL: “Murat could soon be cleared as Madeleine suspect after police return his possessions”
Even his computer - with the Sun’s “kid porn”.
His lawyer Francisco Pagarete said: “The police received an order from the public prosecutor to give everything back to Robert. All his items have been returned. We believe it is another step towards his clearance as a suspect. It’s a good sign.
“But we will have to wait and see. There is nothing official saying his status as an arguido is being revoked.”
Even if yesterday the Sunday People had “CLEARED” him.
No word from the The Mail’s Neil Sears, who told us: “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.” Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.

Robert Murat has moved a step closer to being cleared as a suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance after police returned possessions seized from him 10 months ago.
Says hi mother, Jenny Murat, 74: “Every single item that the police took has been returned to us. Of course we hope it means Robert’s arguido status will be lifted shortly. But we’ve had no official confirmation that that is the case and we’re not getting too excited.”

I keep hearing about the apartment being rented out again by MW but have never seen evidence of this. This is another pro-McCann story until I see evidence to the contrary. Don’t you think whoever stayed there would have sold their story by now? I also thought that it was a privately owned apartment and not one to be rented out by MW? Remember that block has privately owned apartments as well as ones presumably owned or leased by MW.
Sorry if you’re not in the USA. Several people had written to me saying you were. I hold my hands up if you’re not.

Team Mccann have pointed fingers at Mr Murat, his girlfriend…isn’t
M3 “employed” by Mr Kennedy…part of Team McCann….and haven’t they
been active re dubious sightings which associate Mr Murat’s girfriend.
And a McCann spokesperson has been quoted as saying “That Kate is
suspicious of Murat and considers that he has questions to answer”.
Rich…coming from someone who hasn’t answered Police questions herself.

I said only recently how I really wanted to attend the meeting held in London by CM (on the media coverage of the Mccann case) but that I wasn’t quite able to fit it into my schedule.
My schedule does not include willy nilly flights between London and the USA! (More’s the pity!)

The Mark Warner people rented out the apartment again to other guests BEFORE the full forensics were carried out with British support, which the PJ finally asked for. It is incredible to me that the police allowed them to do that.

I joined Anorak after the Murat smears but I looked back at the archives to see how he had been treated and I did that precisely after seeing your comments at the time about how bad that treatment had been!! I remember you saying at the time how you had been insulted on Anorak because you would not join in the vilification of Murat.

The Mccanns have never, ever said that they thought Murat was responsible for Madeleine’s disappearance. On the contrary, GM was very careful, when asked by a reporter early on, to say that any suspect should be treated as innocent until charged and convcted, and he hoped Murat would be treated in that way. He NEVER joined in the smears against Murat.
Even a few weeks ago, when other witnesses were claiming to have seen Murat on 3rd May, it was reported “by a friend” (may not be true) that KM felt a bit uneasy and thought Murat needed to explain if he had been there but that GM still didn’t think he had anything to do with it.
As I say, I don’t know what the truth is, nor who is guilty of this crime, but myths certainly don’t help.

Over the weekend we had hoped to have some breaks from moderating and hoped any posters might be of mature age to have their majority and be able to post without fighting. Seems not , we received a complaint about a poster being attacked (not from the poster under seige) and Duncan acted. Since then we see a few more complaints.
Now this debate is meant to be about a child at the oldest, some 4 years of age, the posters, we hope, are somewhat older?
Now could the rest of you get a grip, we really don’t care who started this, but are just interested in it stopping.

No. It took them a few days to arrange their first appeal. They had to make the arrangements themselves as it is not normal practice in Portugal. Here in the UK, the police themselves would arrange for parents of a missing child to make a media appeal.
They made an appeal at Christmas AS WELL.
Please don’t deliberately mislead!

I’d like a simple explanation how an article could appear at 12:01am in the Telegraph but the PJ didn’t arrive until after that time and they were called at 23:50hrs.
There’s no simple explanation for this and never has been. It’s one of those issues that Team McCann conveniently sidesteps.

Yes, those last two you mentioned have said they were over here. People who sign up to my forum also have claimed they are from such a place but they are really from somewhere else. Each to their own I guess.
I strongly object to silliness about the crime scene when clearly even the pro-McCann stories reveal that the PJ were there from midnight on May 3/4 and they took the correct steps in sealing the place off properly. Why do pro-McCanns still go on about this blindly in the face of plenty of evidence to the contrary - even from their own camp!

I don’t know when they themselves contacted media. I thought it was someobody else? But anyway, they obviously wanted an appeal to go out as soon as possible.
In the evnt, the police wouldn’t organise an appeal anyway. The McCanns had to do that themselves. They managed to organise it pretty quickly though I can’t remember exactly how many days after the 3rd the appeal went out.
(Later they were accused on Anorak, on a number of occasions, of never having made an appeal to the abductor and this was used as evidence either that they didn’t care about finding Madeleine or that they knew very well there was no abductor. In fact, they made that initial appeal as well as additional ones often when being interviewed and then the Christmas appeal as well. They also appealed very specifically on Spanish TV.)

Maria… were you around on Anorak when the Murat stuff was in full flow? I remember a group trying to find a way to get out tp PDL and ‘lock him in a dark room and beat the truth out of him’. It was very scary stuff back then and I was accused of being a paedophile/defender because I defended him against the rubbish slurs that became more exaggerated with each day.
Hence it makes me really laugh to be called a defender of child-neglect because I won’t rubbish the McCanns either.
There are some truly nasty people out there with a lynch-mob mentality!
