Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat’s Relief
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “Murat: It’s big relief”
Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat, 34, last night spoke of his joy that he looks likely to be officially cleared in days.
After having his computers returned, he said at his Praia da Luz home last night: “I’m so relieved.”
No mention of the Mirror’s super sleuth Lori Campbell who fingered “weird” Murat.
DAILY MAIL: “Murat could soon be cleared as Madeleine suspect after police return his possessions”
Even his computer - with the Sun’s “kid porn”.
His lawyer Francisco Pagarete said: “The police received an order from the public prosecutor to give everything back to Robert. All his items have been returned. We believe it is another step towards his clearance as a suspect. It’s a good sign.
“But we will have to wait and see. There is nothing official saying his status as an arguido is being revoked.”
Even if yesterday the Sunday People had “CLEARED” him.
No word from the The Mail’s Neil Sears, who told us: “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.” Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Robert Murat close to being cleared over Madeleine McCann disappearance”
Robert Murat has moved a step closer to being cleared as a suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance after police returned possessions seized from him 10 months ago.
Says hi mother, Jenny Murat, 74: “Every single item that the police took has been returned to us. Of course we hope it means Robert’s arguido status will be lifted shortly. But we’ve had no official confirmation that that is the case and we’re not getting too excited.”

The McCanns went to a concert in Lagos - it was the first public “Madeleine” event. GM writes about it in his blog….a jazz concert.

Troll activity is bloody funny really. As a by product of the Internet revolution and the way news is propagated it’s a complete farce that people can make inane posts to try to help their friends with illogical and barmy arguments.

how could they drive around in a car they have been told contained their daughters dna…?

Further to diplomatic help - the UK ambassador to Italy was not sent to check out the Meredith Kercher murder - a lower rank official made the trip by train from Rome to Perugia.

Thanks Stevo, I found your post, but could you give me a site/reference where I could access the information? And also the timing of the publication of the newspaper article you mentioned. I think it would be very interesting

Proof of abduction = cuddles was moved
Fund not being a charity = they were in a hurry
Woof Woof = dogs thick and mixed up cadavarine and smelly nappies/dog food
John Buck resigning = he suddenly decided he wanted to do more gardening
etc. etc.
But story in the media within a couple of hours of the alarm being raised = no explanation

Trish Cameron, Jon Corner, Philomena, John Hill, and others were told of a break in.
A break in told to at least 4 different people is not a mistake. Sure we don’t know what Kate told them but why would 4 or more people say the apartment was broken in to if it wasn’t told to them like that?

Yes I know - a great big clanger. The story was released too soon.
I didn’t realise another story with the same headline came out later that day. Gandy shot himself in the foot by bungling that earlier today in here.

They don’t like the John Buck thing either.

I posted the letter back from the Foreign Office on the questions posed to do with that first ever news story posted in the Telegraph at 12:01am. Look in here today…I posted it an hour or so ago.
Gandy tried to come up with an alternative Telegraph story that shared the same headline as his/her way of refuting it all but as usual it was complete tosh.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
there was more emotion on eastenders tonight than i’ve ever seen from maddies mum and dad…the only emotion they had was after they were made a-greedo’s…
before that they were globe trotting celebs loving the media…vowing never to leave Portugal without maddie-
after…
they will not talk to the press and will not leave their house in Rothley
…all imo

I know. So why did John Buck come all the way from Lisbon the very next day? Doubt Bill Henderson phoned to say he couldn’t cope himself. Sounds more like Buck was SENT. Just like pinkie.
Do all Brits with problems abroad get this sort of VIP treatment?
Don’t think so.

To be honest, I just don”t know what to believe, did you read the CBSNews reports I
posted last night, Parts 3,4, and 5. Out of all the speculations these reports, to me
anyway, are unbiased . You should watch the videos , they really are interesting. If you
can”t find the posts, let me know and I”ll post the links again.

Agreed. It’s pointless arguing details with some people in here.
I’m assuming Branson’s involvement has probably disappeared in the same way JK Rowling dropped out of it all…i.e. via the back door without a song and dance. Brian Kennedy’s connection is compelling. On the face of it all I can think is he’s on the board of the Scottish RFU and GM has done work for them with drug testing in sport.
March 24th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Batman - there was no urgent need for John Buck to be at PdL so quickly. Henderson from the Patimao consulate was an experienced diplomat who could have dealt with the press etc equally as well - also fluent Portuguese speaker.

“The call went in to the FO at 23:58pm. Hardly enough time for the story to hit the Telegraph 3 mins later.”
I have not heard of this - can you tell me where to find this?

No Stevo, I didn’t miss the point, your point is a conspiracy involving everyone except Frank Cannon, in a word, bollox!!!!!

One wonders why the British Ambassador felt it necessary to be on site within 24 hours, when the local British Consolate was already on hand?
Same Ambassador who resigned two years early from the Foreign Office on the very day the McFragrances raced back to the UK because they suddenly remembered they had left the gas on.

675 Val……….
The McCanns were moved out of the original apartment that night to another on the complex leased by MW.
When they realised they would be spending a lot longer in PDL they rented a private villa that didn’t have a pool. (apart from a paddling pool!) They stayed in this villa until they left.
Re: jemmying the windows….. I thought the shutters had been forced up? hence the fingerprinting of the outisde of the shutters………. jemmy is a strange word, I think the word forced was used and is possibly correct. I don’t know how far up though.
Clouseau. The McCanns did have their hire car returmed to them and they used it right up until they left for the airport. Then it was handed over to a friend (who owned the villa they rented) who had it checked over by their own forensics before handing it back to the hire company.
Back to work…………
