Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat’s Relief
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “Murat: It’s big relief”
Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat, 34, last night spoke of his joy that he looks likely to be officially cleared in days.
After having his computers returned, he said at his Praia da Luz home last night: “I’m so relieved.”
No mention of the Mirror’s super sleuth Lori Campbell who fingered “weird” Murat.
DAILY MAIL: “Murat could soon be cleared as Madeleine suspect after police return his possessions”
Even his computer - with the Sun’s “kid porn”.
His lawyer Francisco Pagarete said: “The police received an order from the public prosecutor to give everything back to Robert. All his items have been returned. We believe it is another step towards his clearance as a suspect. It’s a good sign.
“But we will have to wait and see. There is nothing official saying his status as an arguido is being revoked.”
Even if yesterday the Sunday People had “CLEARED” him.
No word from the The Mail’s Neil Sears, who told us: “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.” Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Robert Murat close to being cleared over Madeleine McCann disappearance”
Robert Murat has moved a step closer to being cleared as a suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance after police returned possessions seized from him 10 months ago.
Says hi mother, Jenny Murat, 74: “Every single item that the police took has been returned to us. Of course we hope it means Robert’s arguido status will be lifted shortly. But we’ve had no official confirmation that that is the case and we’re not getting too excited.”

The timing on the Telegraph articles seems to be logically correct as a scan of dozens of articles reveals totally random timings. Gandolf tried to post several headlines of articles today but he was hoping I wouldn’t check them out. Either he messed up with his cutting and pasting or he lied because he tried to make them out to be all done at 12:01am.
Why would an online system be like that? The Telegraph website is a blog and uses a database to store articles. This means that as a news article is typed in and someone hits send, it gets stored like the entries in here do. If not it would require some other complex and non-logical system.
Google “feared abducted in portugal” to illustrate my point. The first result is the “fake” or 2nd article which Gandolf tried to say was the first story. It isn’t though. For some reason, the first article doesnt’ show in Google’s first few results. The real article is here: http://tinyurl.com/2wowhz

Please tell me I am misreading your post.
Are you really suggesting that a child missing for less than 24 hours (and who could have been found alive and well being looked after by a neighbour) should be treated as more important and requiring more diplomatic attention that a dead, brutally murdered young girl?

No. Im not suggesting that! Blimey, what do you take me for?

Apparently Kate and Gerry are looking for a babysitter.
Unconfirmed reports say that Louise Woodward has been shortlisted.

Stevo,687.
“Some would say impossible. It smacks of the story already being prepared and with the Telegraph a long time before the FO were called.”
Yes, you can see similar MO in operation on the morning of 9/11, when the official narrative, all of it in essence, was being broadcast by the networks within an hour of the first aircraft impact (long before the collapse). You can see a similar attempt to quickly disseminate the official narrative on the morning of 7/7.
I think it has always been the most important question - why did the British security state move so precipitously and decisively to protect one unimportant, provincial doctor from the consequences of his own folly?
“It is prudent to be cautious when the evidence is sparse…” but I believe enough of the evidence is now in, to come to a conclusion. It is not pretty, and can’t be discussed here, but it’s more than a tentative conclusion, as the final pieces have fallen into place.
I hope the child is returned home safely, but I do not expect it. What happened to her, who did what and when, who is guilty of what and when, are no longer of importance, to me personally.

Thanks. Since I don’t you or your motivations, I may choose whether to believe or disbelieve that your posting is genuine.
Also interested in timing of the posting of the news item. Are you sure it was 3 minutes later? Just because it says this on the website doesn’t necessarily mean this (as I’ve waited for news before and it has had the stamp latterly, but wasn’t there at the time I was waiting)..

Don’t tell anyone but I actually got rid of him yesterday. The dog that has been in my garden all day actually belongs to a friend!! I am going to return it now - before I report my own one missing.
Clever, eh?
And I have all the documentation ready for a ‘Find Lassie’ fund. Should cover the summer holiday expenditure nicely.

The old articles are the Rosetta Stone of this case. There’s too much in those early days already set in stone. Some Express stories might have been over the top and offensive but some aren’t. When the real evidence comes out there has to be an element of truth if not the whole truth in some of the Express stories. If not it would be more fictional than Narnia.

Further to diplomatic help - the UK ambassador to Italy was not sent to check out the Meredith Kercher murder - a lower rank official made the trip by train from Rome to Perugia.

Jo- the question of a “bungled enquiry” is interesting. From what I have seen, heard and read of the case the McCanns would probably have been the “losers” in a “top class” investigation from the moment the Port police were informed.

There’s no link. The letter is in my email box from independent research. If you’d like to write and ask the Foreign Office, feel free. It’s under the Freedom of Information Act. MP’s and government employees are compelled to tell you answers to those questions.
