Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat’s Relief
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “Murat: It’s big relief”
Madeleine McCann suspect Robert Murat, 34, last night spoke of his joy that he looks likely to be officially cleared in days.
After having his computers returned, he said at his Praia da Luz home last night: “I’m so relieved.”
No mention of the Mirror’s super sleuth Lori Campbell who fingered “weird” Murat.
DAILY MAIL: “Murat could soon be cleared as Madeleine suspect after police return his possessions”
Even his computer - with the Sun’s “kid porn”.
His lawyer Francisco Pagarete said: “The police received an order from the public prosecutor to give everything back to Robert. All his items have been returned. We believe it is another step towards his clearance as a suspect. It’s a good sign.
“But we will have to wait and see. There is nothing official saying his status as an arguido is being revoked.”
Even if yesterday the Sunday People had “CLEARED” him.
No word from the The Mail’s Neil Sears, who told us: “There was something more to the friendly expat who called himself ‘Rob’ than met the eye.” Murat made Sears “feel slightly uncomfortable”.
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Robert Murat close to being cleared over Madeleine McCann disappearance”
Robert Murat has moved a step closer to being cleared as a suspect in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance after police returned possessions seized from him 10 months ago.
Says hi mother, Jenny Murat, 74: “Every single item that the police took has been returned to us. Of course we hope it means Robert’s arguido status will be lifted shortly. But we’ve had no official confirmation that that is the case and we’re not getting too excited.”

“Remember as far as we know they didn’t know Madeleine was missing, so they didn’t have a reason to pay much attention to anything I guess.”
And if we think about all this from the perspective of Ian’s Panto scenario…rather than a direct reporting of ‘reality’ then of course, the window and shutter were most likely tight shut! And both Kate and Oldfield were attempting to describe from imagination, the scene they needed to portray………allegedly…….then the opening from the inside was done, perhaps by Kate before her ‘discovery’ ????

‘The man Jane saw walking away from the apartments where we were staying was carrying a child, around 9.10pm on the night Madeleine was abducted. Jane described pyjamas matching those Madeleine was wearing without knowing what she had on that fateful night’.
A defensive Gerry! Anyway, its ‘Day 262: 20/01/2008′

One of the CBSNews Videos that I pasted here yesterday , according to the Private
Investigator, the Tapas 9 were drinking every night until after midnight according to
the Tapas Waiters, why the hell did they take the children I ask. The Lady who lives
in the Apartment above 5a occupied by the McCanns said the night before she had heard one of the children crying from 10.30pm until 11.45pm when the McCanns
returned. If true, why did”nt they put them in the creche to sleep the following night?
—————–
4 possible reasons:
1. they weren’t too convinced they’d have been back in time to collect them from the creche.
2. they knew they’d be in no state to be collecting and carrying young children when they returned.
3. they felt less than secure about leaving the children at the creche. (NOT!)
4. Mark Warner and/or its employees of their own accord said it’d be okay - they’d check on the children on their rounds, the perfect hosts that they were. (NOT!)

Yes, I remember that it was 8 Red and 6 white, but some was drunk in the Afternoon.
Apparently, Gerry was in the Tennis Court in the afternoon the children were in the
creche, but where was Kate?

Ian,
i’d like to address this (yes, with even more speculation!) but just went through the Gerry blooogs during the first 50 days and can’t find mention of 9:10 as time of sighting. on what date did he make that entry? [help!]
but if he has written that effectively he was standing over Madeleine at the time she was being abducted, a la Tanner, then one could ask whether Gerry the one carrying M like a sack of potatoes, blanketless in the wind. but then Jes Wilkins would have noticed and said so, so we’re instructed to discount the Tanner sighting. which then begs the question: what’s Gerry’s motive here?

Sorry I’m a bit late to this…..I remember when I first read of Kate’s description [wjereber that was ?] I got a strong ompression of her entering the apartmnent and on shutting the door [which I just assumed was the patio doors] the bedroom door blew shut….so that would have been before she entered the bedroom…….oes that make sense ?

923 False Flag,
the Daily Mail says on 5 Nov 2007: “Leaks from inside the police investigation suggested the so-called Tapas Nine ordered daiquiris, martinis and beers before dinner, downed up to 14 bottles of wine with their meal, and usually enjoyed almond liqueur afterwards.
But the group’s waiter, Jose Baptista, said they were ‘very sensible’ about their drinking and usually had eight to ten bottles over the course of two or three hours. ”
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=491693&in_page_id=1770
…………..so seems their wine consumption - alone - that night was between 8 and 14 bottles.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:59 am
I suppose it could be that the whole story of the night of the third is to cover NO checks being made and maybe Madeleine was abducted.
The immediate and continuous pushing of abduction may be because they know it was perfectly possible - because no checks were made. The cartoon man might simply have been a creation to strengthen the claim.
When it was realised it was making the abduction impossible (by being too tight on the times) Gerry cancelled it out with his altering of the sighting to the same time he last saw Madeleine - 9:10.

876 Val says:
The CBS Investigator was told by the Tapas Staff that seven or eight bottles of wine were drunk, not very many you would think between
nine people. However, Kate & Gerry said they had a glass of wine before they wen out, were the first at the Tapas bar at 8.30pm so possibly a bottle of wine apiece was a lot
in one and a half hours, it would certainly be enought for me !!!!!!!!”
Recently I read somewhere that there is a bill [maybe held by the PJ] which details 14 bottles for that day - I think from early evening when they were wont to start drinking wine at the kids’ tea-time. Anyone remember hearing that they had been drinking right through from then ? This would then allow for ?Gerry’s? claim of six bottles at tappas time maybe ?

Are you going to explain it to them?

I don’t think any accident occurred on the night of the 3rd. I think something happened before then, I think the night of the 3rd was a panto designed to create the abductor theory.
Kate - after finding Madeleine gone - did not go to her close friend next door.
Surely one would hope that the child was with the friend, isn’t that the human reaction? To abandon hope of a simple harmless explanation (Madeleine with Tanner) and noisily proclaim her abduction is suspicious.
Another poster (Garth) suggested that Kate was in panic and didnt think straight on finding the blind up and the window open. But she searched the apartment three times yet didnt do that hopeful check with her neighbour and close friend?
Now its realised she is saying that it was the closing of the bedroom door which alerted her. So she didnt even check Madeleine (up to that point) then!
Panto - something happened on the 2nd, in my view.

Muddler - funny!
Val - if you look at the photo, assuming it is the childrens bedroom the door does not swing into the room. Noted your point about the high shelf.
Retiring for the night now. It has been an interesting evening, thank you

Really we’ve been talking about the story of her feeling the draft and Oldfield [not noticing the draft, but] noticing the room was lighter… And the picture of the room too. Do you remember I thought I could see a number on the door and someone told me it were doorknobs? Could have been Peter O and me discussing it, long long ago.
Really have to go now!
Early rise tomorrow and loads of work!
Bye.

8The 3D diagram, derived from the same plan, repeats these errors.
The door to the children’s bedroom has been the source of much debate as it plays an important role in the events of the evening of May 3rd.
Martin Brunt’s documentary, aired on 24 December 2007, confirmed that the door was hinged on the right, as a person enters the room, and swings into the bedroom - not the living area as detailed in this diagram.
Note: What looks like a wall, on the left of the photograph released 12 November 2007, is actually a wall-length wardrobe.

I don’t think anyone realised what was being said Totje.
‘As she closed the door….’ …I’ve seen this many times, though I must admit because I don’t believe the story of the night I didnt bother considering it deeply enough!
If she had too much to drink, why not admit it - isn’t that better than the world suspecting you have done something much worse?
The inconsistencies get worse as time goes by. Gerry saying on his blog that Tanner saw cartoon man at 9:10, the same time he said he saw Madeleine for the last time is a strange one, we know this is not second hand, he writes the blog, would he really make an error in cancelling out her claim when it is so vital?
Even Garth hasn’t tried to explain this one!

This is strange… something is wrong.
Did you notice when you look at the photo [which is taken through the window] the door is to the left and if you look at the plan the door is slightly left but opposite of the window?

Muddler. I hope she was nissed as a pewt, otherwise i am starting to think that the ’story’ of her finding madeleine missing is just that. A story.
Inebriation is the only possible explanation, but if she was then why didn’t she just say so. Didn’t C M deny all the rumours about how much wine had been drunk? Wasn’t this one of the first hurtful rumours that appeared?

Unless she were well practised, it probably wouldn’t take a great deal of alcohol to have an effect on KM, given her slight frame and the fact that they had probably had little time to eat much.
BTW, for those who think an accident might have taken place, what about alcohol…?
