THOMAS Beatie is a transman.

He is legally male, and has a wife called Nancy. He’s 22 weeks pregnant.

Eight years after having his last menstrual cycle he stopped taking bimonthly testosterone injections and his body regulated itself so that he was able to conceive.

Says Beatie:

“Despite the fact that my belly is growing with a new life inside me, I am stable and confident being the man that I am. In a technical sense I see myself as my own surrogate, though my gender identity as male is constant. To Nancy, I am her husband carrying our child — I am so lucky to have such a loving, supportive wife. I will be my daughter’s father, and Nancy will be her mother. We will be a family.

“Our situation sparks legal, political, and social unknowns. We have only begun experiencing opposition from people who are upset by our situation. Doctors have discriminated against us, turning us away due to their religious beliefs. Health care professionals have refused to call me by a male pronoun or recognize Nancy as my wife. Receptionists have laughed at us. Friends and family have been unsupportive; most of Nancy’s family doesn’t even know I’m transgender.”

Beatie is due on July 3.

I am completely agree with Justy, this is a real and a potential risk to the humanity, what happned to the doctors? how they allow this freaky woman, that has a moustache and cutting teats , and have many operations and taking for the rest of her life testosterone, HOW THE DOCTORS allowed her to get pregnant??? this must finished by a court right now. Where is the conservation of dignity?

This woman have to face in court, this can not continuing jujst like this,, this is not funny and is not a new, this is the worst thing can happen to a human been, we must stop this.

This wird woman, transgender, think is a man, but why if she thinks is a man one to have the woman role?

What about the authorities? they should stop that pregnancy, this is not fear for the new generations, for the new baby on the way
What about the doctors? are totally insane? the doctor who performed the operation to this crazy woman got pregnant, this is absolutely against HUMANITY.

If this woman wants to be a man, she can do it but alone why should mixed up with an innocent baby? where are the institutions to protect innocent childs?
This is against humanity, and if authorities don’t do it anything, we the people !!! must do something to stop this attrocities , who they think they are? Gods? how they can play with the HUMAN CIVILIZATION?

Stop playing with gender, if you are woman, is because you are woman, and if you born man is because you are a men. UNDERSTOOD?

The media (that includes the web) gets more and more stupid. Just like the newspapers that try to changes the definition of marriage (it requires one man and one woman, anything else requires a new word in the dictionary).

Here’s this woman (there is a pregnancy, therefore she is a woman) and the headline reads “Thomas Beatie Is A Pregnant Man”. I’ve seen lots of ugly women in my time that looked like men. Here’s a woman that dresses and looks like a man. I’ve seen websites that looked like PayPal - but they were fake as well.

It is the media just trying to make a buck that reports crap like this. Sounds just like the creationists that want to believe the Earth is very young when science proves it is very old.

The media has lost its way. I do not know how we might put the genie back in the bottle.

I think that this is great!! I don’t understand how people can have so much faith in God, but are also so judgemental of everyone else. It’s amazing. This man is able to bring a child into this world because his wife could not. I think that their marriage was meant to be because of this situation. I think that he is very brave to show everyone his transgender issue for love of his family. I wish the both of you luck!!!!

Well I fail to see what the fuss is all about, obviously they are really a women ,regardless of how they like to class themselves, what they have had surgically added or removed , the clothes they wear or name they call themselves.

Men cannot naturally conceive, it’s quite simple to any one who went to school and did biology at kindergarten!!!

Ah you closed-minded bigots…don’t you understand? According to those same scriptures you are using to reinforce your particular opinion on the rest of the world, it clearly states “God is Love.” Now, what part of God is Love don’t you understand? You don’t realize that children can overcome anything as long as they are LOVED, and from everything I have read in this article, Thomas and Nancy are ready, willing, and able to love this child more than life itself, which is more than I can say for many of the rest of you.

Congratulations to Thomas & his wife Nancy!! People should grow up and realize this is the world we live in now. Why shouldn’t he have their baby? I think this is a great thing, and surprised it took this long for something like this to happen. Good luck finding a good doctor and dealing with these “good” God-fearing people. Congratulations again to you both and if you decide to have another child this way, I hope more people will be more accepting of you and your wonderful family!!
