Madeleine McCann: A Tapas Quiz, Doctors And McCanns
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “COPS’ 3-DAY TAPAS QUIZ”
Big news for those who thought the cops’ specialist food knowledge was donuts and kebabs. Cops making a last-ditch bid to solve the Maddie McCann mystery will spend only THREE DAYS quizzing the Tapas Seven.
Not the Tapas Nine. Not the Sangria Seven.
The detectives are particularly keen to see Dr David Payne, Jane Tanner and her partner Dr Russell O’Brien. Doctors Gerry and Kate, both 39, are not expected to face more questioning.
Doctors. Such are the facts.
The friends deny that their initial statements contain contradictions. But Portuguese police hope that ironing out apparent inconsistencies will help solve the riddle.
THIS IS LONDON: “‘Tapas Nine’ to face three days of police interviews”
Portuguese police are planning to question the so-called Tapas Nine during three days of interviews in a final attempt to solve the mystery of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
The so-called Tapas Seven.
Mr and Mrs McCann, who are both still official suspects, are not expected to be questioned.”
DAILY MIRROR: “Tapas Seven to be questioned again in Madeleine case”
The Tapas Seven, who had dinner with the McCanns on the night their daughter Madeleine, four, vanished, will have more than 100 questions put to them by Portuguese police.
Any other facts?
A source told Portuguese paper 24 Horas, said: “We are at a crucial phase. There are clear contradictions in the statements that the McCanns and their friends gave. Many things have to be clarified.
“The need to question Madeleine’s parents again will be determined by the results of the interrogations of their holiday friends.”
Or not. Such are the facts.

M and A,
You are absolutely right, and here the problem is compounded by the fact that the dole is quite generous and young kids at the age of 16 can obtain payments for each child they have. At the moment, the additional “baby bonus” is A$5,000 !!!!! per baby. Plus, the more children they have, the higher the welfare payments. Ridiculous!!!
_____________
its been going awry for a number of years though, we are all aware children have rights, but parents do have obligations, but this is not always seen and understood.
You recall when you were first married, how people would carry on about babies, as though they disappeared at 18 months, parents these days have the same irresponsible attitude

I think the PJ got first to try to solve the child’s disappearence.
Later they will probably process the parents for being neglected.
Dead or not dead on that night, this comes on the first place

So, does anyone have any theories regarding why the parents have not been charged with neglect at this stage? I don’t understand this.
_____________
That has been discussed a lot of times Daisy, the general feeling is that the PJ have more evidence than anyone knows, and charging them with a lesser charge might compromise a more serious one, if the evidence was there.

Maravilha,
People are people, no matter where they live IMO. The only time when it becomes difficult to understand or “feel” someone’s demeanor is when slangs are used in the conversation, which probably won’t be the case in an interrogation.

Maria,
I think some people are so convinced that the parents are guilty of more than neglect, that it would take even more than the PJ saying, for example, “after all our investigations, we believe the parents had nothing to do with the disappearance of the child”. There would still be people who would for ever believe they are guilty.

Maybe there was orginally more than 1 cuddle cat?

225 DAISY,
Yes, I agree with you but I still believe the British police will be necessary to help feeling what is going on in the souls of the witnesses.

It would have to be an accurate translation from Portuguese to English, the answer understood and then translated. Legalese is very formal,no yeah buts and must be precise

If they said ‘FFS DO NOT do what we did!’ I’d be behind them 100% - its all they have to do to turn the tide.
——————————-
Do you really mean that? If they simply said that in public, you’d be behind them, despite the fact that you believe they killed Madeleine, or covered up her accidental death, disposed illegally of her body, possibly substituted another child in her place on 3rd May, started a hoax campaign to find her, obtained money under false pretences, seriously wasted police time, broke their families’ hearts, brought close friends out to Portugal to help and support them, etc??
Bizarre!

M and A
Have to be fair to Ian, Maria, he has never said that they killed her. he condemns them solely for leaving her and her siblings

Maravilha,
I believe that if someone has a fairly good command of a foreign language (I speak from experience), they will be able to read body language and little expressions with no problem. I also suppose that the PJ and the UK police are working in unison and not against eachother and after the interrogations take place, they surely would discuss each interview amongst themselves to get a full picture, wouldn’t they?
March 30th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
lets put the cuddlecat thing to sleep ( if you know what i mean)
transcript from the Panorama programme
CORNER: They took most of their clothing, they were taking even the wet clothes out of the washing machine. I was aware that the cuddlecat was boxed up and we were asked to leave the villa.

I believe those detectives of the PJ speak perfect English.
But there is a huge difference when it is or not your native language.
It is not only speaking it but understanding and feeling body language, eyes expression, etc.
This goes beyond the capacity of a foreigner to feel it, even if he is perfect in that language.
Different cultures react on a different way.

G’day !
I still can’t understand why, if it is so apparent that the parents did leave the 3 little ones alone while dining, they haven’t been charged with neglect at this stage. Why are the PJ waiting in this sense? Would a charge of neglect prevent them from bringing further charges later on, if proven that the parents did in deed haven an involvement in the disappearance of the child?
Looking back at post talking about how kids run wild because of lack of parental discipline or supervision, here the authorities are looking at implementing a curfew for kids under 16 because the police are at their wits end regarding kids roaming free at night (of various ages ranging from 9 - 14). Where the hell are the parents?
In most case, they are drinking or partying and the police have said that when they find these youngsters on the streets at night, they drive them home, talk to the parents and surprise, surprise, an hour o two later, those same kids are on the streets again.
I think the problem is world-wide and not only restricted to the UK (as mentioned earlier by someone) and lack of discipline and selfishness by irresponsible, unprepared parents, is the reason.

Here’s a thought about Cristavao’s 5-2-3-1 puzzle:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Commandments
Using the RC numbering, commandment 5 is:
You shall not murder (RC wording is ‘kill’)
Commandment 2 is:
You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God
Commandment 3 is:
Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy
Commandment 1 is: I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an idol .
Any thoughts?

Jo,166, says:
“Kate and Gerry even believe that Madeleine is alive,” said the spokesman, Clarence Mitchell. “There is not a single proof that is dead,”
There is much circumstantial evidence, old boy, and you yourself said she was ‘probably dead’ before Gerry corrected you. You really must keep to the party line - much depends on it. Your job, for instance. Kate & Gerry, of course, edit {in my opinion}edit {possibly} know whether their daughter is alive or not.
Otherwise, musing in philosophical vein, we do not have a single proof that YOU are not dead, Clarence.
Not as a decent, moral human being with a conscience, that is.

Now I’m gone, I just had to do that because I am getting sick of these people trying to build careers on the back of their failure to protect their child.
I can only imagine that these ‘charities’ are ‘naive’.
I’m sure its not the infamy they want to associate with, maybe its the promise of funding ‘if anything is left over’ from the infamous ‘fund’?
