Madeleine McCann: The McCanns’ Return To Portugal, A Year Of Looking And Ben Affleck
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “McCanns risk arrest over visit”
KATE and Gerry McCann may risk arrest by returning to Portugal for the one-year anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.
The couple are prepared to take the chance in a last ditch attempt to revive interest in four-year-old Maddie, missing since May 3.
Any facts?
The doctors, both 39, left the Praia da Luz resort last September – 48 hours after being made official suspects over the mystery.
Gerry and Kate McCann are Doctors. Such are the facts.
Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “They want to be there for the first anniversary. Going out there would send the strongest possible message that Madeleine could still be alive and the search for her should continue.”
SYDNEY MORNING HERALD: “Turning the tabloids”
Ben Affleck is Gone Baby Gone:
Almost as troublesome was the story’s unforeseen and unintended resemblance to a real-life case of child kidnapping that hit the headlines in the months it was being filmed. That was the disappearance in Portugal last year of British girl Madeleine McCann, who was of a similar age and appearance to the film’s kidnapping victim and had a name eerily similar to the character in the Lehane novel, Amanda McCready.
McCready has disappeared amid the squalor of her south Boston neighbourhood. The police are out in formation, as are the television news vans, antennas raised high, all but trembling for blood.
Madeleine McCann: That’s entertainment

The tragedy is that all these displaced people, no homes, no medicines, very little
food and miles to go for water, will end up in another country as Refugees. Tony
Blair was quick enough to intervene in Kosovo, send troops to Sierra Leone, but no
one does anything about Africa except promise Aid which always ends up in someone”s Swiss Bank Account.. It was the same with Idi Amin, he was allowed to get
away everything.

True, the Chinese own a lot of shops and land here as well, very cruell, treat their workers like dirt, smuggle etc.
i find the Americans very friendly and generous as well. Mrs B has brother and uncle there.
they will not easily go into Zim, will cause hell on the average Zimbabwean, Mgabe and cronies will flee.

they sell 18% HCL i think it is in DIY shops for cleaning bric.
Concentrated HCL is about 40% as I remember.
100% HCL is a gas, the rest is water.
and although things may have changed the last few years due to terrorism, I’ve bought concentrated acids, conc Hydrogen peroxide, Acetone and all sorts from lab suppliers just by going in and paying cash for it.
never once been asked what i wanted it for.
in fact, i bought 10L of acetone a few weeks ago for work.
got it from the internet delivered and everything for about a tenner or so.

Evening all
why do the mccs want to go back for an anniversary any way? What is there to celebrate?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
it won’t.
there’s sulphuric acid in a car battery and that manages to stay in ok.
well, most of the time anyway.
you can keep it in glass or plastic.
Hydrofluoric acid is the one which dissolves glass.
you usually get a tube of calcium gluconate gel as an antidote with it, as it penetrates to the bone first and hurts when it’s too late to do anything later.

We used to use HCl in a company I worked for as a cleaning (de-rusting) agent for wire, and by dumping ingots of zinc into it, making zinc chloride for use in a galvanising plant. This produced more hydrogen gas than you’d need for a hindenburg disaster, so it was strictly ‘no smoking’ around there.
I can’t imagine there would be any domestic use for concentrated HCl or any other acid for that matter.

It”s been predicted that the Yellow race will rule the world I forecast that within 5-10
years China and India will dominate the World Economy. I saw a documentary last
year by an English Professor teaching at New York University. It was really interesting, told how America had evolved, he called the Americans “Imperialists in
Denial”, said they were decadent, patriotic but not Nationalistic and had no stomach
for long wars. Also said the way they lived on Credit would be their downfall.
I was in America last year and found the Americans generous and friendly.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
im getting off that as thats one thought to much for me,i know i said a while back about this but actually never really considered in a serious manner.

sulphuric acid ? the illegal diamond dealers, plenty of those around keep a small bottle of that to test diamonds that they buy, say it will dissolve anything except a real diamond, but what are the bottles made of ?
April 5th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
well your stomach is full of it, but for a body you’d need an oil drum full, not a bleach bottle.
