Madeleine McCann: The McCanns’ Return To Portugal, A Year Of Looking And Ben Affleck
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “McCanns risk arrest over visit”
KATE and Gerry McCann may risk arrest by returning to Portugal for the one-year anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.
The couple are prepared to take the chance in a last ditch attempt to revive interest in four-year-old Maddie, missing since May 3.
Any facts?
The doctors, both 39, left the Praia da Luz resort last September – 48 hours after being made official suspects over the mystery.
Gerry and Kate McCann are Doctors. Such are the facts.
Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “They want to be there for the first anniversary. Going out there would send the strongest possible message that Madeleine could still be alive and the search for her should continue.”
SYDNEY MORNING HERALD: “Turning the tabloids”
Ben Affleck is Gone Baby Gone:
Almost as troublesome was the story’s unforeseen and unintended resemblance to a real-life case of child kidnapping that hit the headlines in the months it was being filmed. That was the disappearance in Portugal last year of British girl Madeleine McCann, who was of a similar age and appearance to the film’s kidnapping victim and had a name eerily similar to the character in the Lehane novel, Amanda McCready.
McCready has disappeared amid the squalor of her south Boston neighbourhood. The police are out in formation, as are the television news vans, antennas raised high, all but trembling for blood.

It’s really just another instance of odd behaviour by the Mccanns. Surely they would want to be round and about and show an interest when PJ are coming over to progress the case.

You can’t leave!
We need you here sleuthing!

My second was born at home - so mr noseycow watched the footy…
Our third was so fast that he only just had enough time to finish his cup of tea…

Jo - I predict what will happen in Dublin will be the following.
A few anorak free days and then hey presto - Jo is back followed closely by the lawyer and his wife, - how old are the children???
***************
We have in mind to set up a kidnap but this time in dublin.
Its easier (for linguistic reasons) and hopefully the Amber alert will be set up to add to the fun
HOW did you know hey?
The lawyer is actually a single “wife”.I shall her PA and aslo look after the baby (best part really)
We are planning to go to rothley next weekend as well to take advise on “how to cope with (out)a missing child” as the child will already be missing.Got to plan ahead
This will be an informative informal meeting with PJ,lawyers, clarrie of course and Keela and Eddie.
So, BBQ next weekend.Bring your bones and tennis stuff
Tapas will be provided by JT%Co,PJ bringing fresh sardines and M3 are coming with stuffed prawns.
Early bookings,please

Do the youngsters of nowadays still get married? I thought that was only what us “old-timers” did in years gone by
(Oh boy I’m going to be slapped for that seeing that I still think of myself as a youngster - “wishful thinking”)
April 6th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
What odds would i get that we’ll all still be posting about madeleine when the new Ms Anorak gets married…
April 6th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Yeah nosey, and trashing it up at the local pub with his mates the night the baby’s born …. sure is a tough life being a new dad
April 6th, 2008 at 12:26 pm
AAwww Julie !!
How many babies have you had?? Shirley you know that its the dad that does all the hard work…
Holding hands, making phone calls, handing out cigars etc etc etc…

Jo’ll have the lawyer set up extra PC’s so that they can all sit and post at the same time. They’ll be addicted within a week IMO.

Hi there everyone
(just popping in for a short break from gardening)
Jo, sure am going to miss your fiery posts
- let’s hedge bets on how long it takes Jo to find an Internet Cafe in Ireland …. my wager … by Tuesday evening the latest
Jo, while you’re over there in Ireland, I had a very good friend who I have lost contact with, she lives in Ireland … could you possibly find her for me … I mean Ireland’s not THAT big is it

Read my post 1235
I am saying/asking the same question: why arent they around when the PJ is there?AND how comes they are free to do whatever they want like going here and there?
May be the PJ doesnt care and let them look even more fools than ever with the Brussel trip.
Knowing them, the PJ surely has a good laugh and SURELY has agents following them under cover just in case…….they legg it somewherelse
Nothing would come as a surprise from those 2 lovely people

Marie Nicholas, Val,Nosey,Lilith
Anorak will be exactely the same with or without me
and OMG some good original guiness what a luxury!
I heard they had computers in ireland
Marie, you are right :not a hell of a lot is going to happen.
Might pop in rothley on my way back and get a riot together.I already have some very interested people to join in
As long as the mcFools are still arguidos ,thats fine with me
I will make the most out of my trip in Ireland which is lovely.I miss the greeness, the rain and the snugginess it involves. Also I am working for a lawyer OLEEEEEEE!!!! who is rather anti as well,so I”ll do my “bickering” with them
Amy is “naturally” “aimee” which I really love as a name
Nosey, I learnt all the “bad english” directly from my children”s father
but I agree this is not a reason
Val
I really do not know for how long I am going to be there. It will greatly depends of many factors,I just cant say.
But I will miss you all

I posted earlier a snippet from SkyNews saying it will be several weeks before
there is an outcome…………you would think Clarrie would use this opportun ity to
ask Rebelo if the McCanns can return to Portugal , without fear of arrest, to mark
the disappearance of their daughter who they will forever let everyone else search
for, as long as the Fund lasts that is. Who paid for their trip to U.S.A, who”s paying
for this one? Gerry Can”t be working full time and with Kate not working money must
be tight.IMO

Morning all!
Do any of you think the Holy Ones are doing a runner again?
They leave the country when the tapas 7 are going to be questioned without THEIR lawyers present!
Are they afraid to be arrested?

How long will you be in Ireland? Anorak wouldn”t be the same without your ranting
and raving lol. If it is a new Job, hope it”s what you are looking for.

Jo must concentrate on what she has to do in Ireland, forget Anorak for one week, and avoid any cybercafe (or pub) in Ireland!
April 6th, 2008 at 11:48 am
Jo, you love Amy. I also like the French version of it : Aimée, which means “beloved”.

You can bet the mobile phones will be in constant use, the McCanns will want to know
from the Tapas 7 exactly what the questions were. Honestly, I really believe the McCanns act like Celebrities , they”ll be asked to open a new creche any day now!!!!!!

Rumour has it that in some parts of Ireland they do actually have computers. Some even with internet connections.

Jo
We’ll miss you Jo.
They say Ireland is great.
I don’t think there will be important news while you are away. We’ll see the results later.
As you noticed, the smart lawyers insisted that tons of people were heard as witnesses, but according to me, Rebelo’s team will only stay in England for the meaningful ones, and the other witnesses will be heard in the following weeks, but are probably not expected to clarrie-fy the first sketchy statements.
Good luck in Ireland, Jo.
