Madeleine McCann: The McCanns’ Return To Portugal, A Year Of Looking And Ben Affleck
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “McCanns risk arrest over visit”
KATE and Gerry McCann may risk arrest by returning to Portugal for the one-year anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.
The couple are prepared to take the chance in a last ditch attempt to revive interest in four-year-old Maddie, missing since May 3.
Any facts?
The doctors, both 39, left the Praia da Luz resort last September – 48 hours after being made official suspects over the mystery.
Gerry and Kate McCann are Doctors. Such are the facts.
Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “They want to be there for the first anniversary. Going out there would send the strongest possible message that Madeleine could still be alive and the search for her should continue.”
SYDNEY MORNING HERALD: “Turning the tabloids”
Ben Affleck is Gone Baby Gone:
Almost as troublesome was the story’s unforeseen and unintended resemblance to a real-life case of child kidnapping that hit the headlines in the months it was being filmed. That was the disappearance in Portugal last year of British girl Madeleine McCann, who was of a similar age and appearance to the film’s kidnapping victim and had a name eerily similar to the character in the Lehane novel, Amanda McCready.
McCready has disappeared amid the squalor of her south Boston neighbourhood. The police are out in formation, as are the television news vans, antennas raised high, all but trembling for blood.
Madeleine McCann: That’s entertainment

Have we yet been given the official announcement of the new Anorak Baby’s name …. it’s unhelfpful to the cause not to know the name. We demand that we officially be nformed. It’s quiet ludicrous really

I also believe in that, and, in this case, they already have a good dose of pusnishment… although, of course, they deserve much punishment (and better).
Have a very nice trip (where are you fro, by the way). I Think that from the UK, but where exactly (si no es indiscrección)?

The news of the new baby Anorak took me back to my children being born, endless visitors, teas, coffees, prezzies, offers of “Do you need any shoppin?” which we all know is translated to , “Can I have a hold?” , by baby 3 I took all the offers of help that I could get and when the tasks were done the reward was a cuddle of my baby and then the door is closed and you are alone with something so precious you cannot quantify it.
I never forget how precious my children are but it took me back to the thoughts I had in the early days in the case of Madeleine being missing. I have had numerous family holidays, family holidays in the sense of what I think all on Anorak believe is a family holiday, but I have never been as flippant as the Mcs were with Madeleine, Amelie and Sean. I guarded my digital camera, passport and travellers cheques more safely.
If I went for a meal the door was locked to secure my valuables for insurance purposes and for the inconvienience of having a passport etc stolen.
All other things that were irreplacaeable were with me at all times.
Did try one year to leave Mr Matty in a dark alley but as soon as they heard he was a Toon supporter there were no takers
Noseycoe-Good luck wi the Toad in the Hole noseycow, I always fail by adding too much olive oil and it ends up fried not baked, the hungry hoards don’t complain though

The truth and justice will come one way or the other.
If the PJ cant for whatever reasons,I believe there is a natural order, well beyond our laws, which soon or later, make justice.Always.
I call it the “boomerang effect”:you throw it and it comes back to you

…………………………
Reminds me of the old (very non PC) joke about the young Indian boy asking his father Big Chief Sitting Bull how he named all his children.
BCSB said he takes inspiration from the very first thing he sees when he opens the flap of his teepee in the morning… rising shining sun…. gently waving trees….. stream flowing softly…….
Young boy says ‘Ah I understand now why my name is ‘Two Dogs F***ing’.
Off to cook dinner!!

Bored?
++++++++++++++++
Wish I had time to get bored. In between monitoring Anorak I’m wrestling with a clapped out boiler trying to get some hot water for Mrs D’s bath!
P.S. Love the suggestions for the baby’s name. My personal favourite so far is ‘arsenelina’ from MrsT. Given young and old Mr Anorak’s connections with a certain Asian female table-tennis team, I personally favour a more exotic sounding name, something like -
‘Ti Lemongrass Sorene’?
*********
Poor you on duty in real and virtual worlds!!!
Arselina sound a bit like arsenic doesnt it?
The TLemongrass Soren is ok with me,its rather original ,unseen and not heard.Easy to say as well
Have a good bath Mrs.D!!!

Thanks JO
You have to have got the cheek to present yourself in Brussels, in the parliament, or wherever, your dark suit, your tie (Gerry), your portfolio, your elegant wife at your side… Simpky, I cannot believe they will dare
April 6th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
The Naughty Chair ? or the Spammer ? or - as in Gandalf’s case the Slammer ? why ma petite ? do you want to go there ? or do you want to send someone there ?
April 6th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
How is this place called where one is put when misbehaving on anorak? I forgot the word.
April 6th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
I do hope Madame et Monsieur Sorene are taking our suggestions re: names for the Wee One, in the spirit in which they are offered !! Just hope they don’t call her soemthing she will regret, like Peaches for crying out loud …..
