Madeleine McCann: The McCanns’ Return To Portugal, A Year Of Looking And Ben Affleck
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “McCanns risk arrest over visit”
KATE and Gerry McCann may risk arrest by returning to Portugal for the one-year anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.
The couple are prepared to take the chance in a last ditch attempt to revive interest in four-year-old Maddie, missing since May 3.
Any facts?
The doctors, both 39, left the Praia da Luz resort last September – 48 hours after being made official suspects over the mystery.
Gerry and Kate McCann are Doctors. Such are the facts.
Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “They want to be there for the first anniversary. Going out there would send the strongest possible message that Madeleine could still be alive and the search for her should continue.”
SYDNEY MORNING HERALD: “Turning the tabloids”
Ben Affleck is Gone Baby Gone:
Almost as troublesome was the story’s unforeseen and unintended resemblance to a real-life case of child kidnapping that hit the headlines in the months it was being filmed. That was the disappearance in Portugal last year of British girl Madeleine McCann, who was of a similar age and appearance to the film’s kidnapping victim and had a name eerily similar to the character in the Lehane novel, Amanda McCready.
McCready has disappeared amid the squalor of her south Boston neighbourhood. The police are out in formation, as are the television news vans, antennas raised high, all but trembling for blood.
Madeleine McCann: That’s entertainment

SalomonES, I have used your excellent letter as a guide for writing a protest to the President of the European Parliament, as well as to Glenys Kinnock, Edouard McMillan-Scott, Struan Stevenson and Diana Wallis. I am sure many others have done the same.
As someone who has no particular expertise to add to a forum such as this, it is good to be able to make a contribution to justice for Madeleine by writing to any authority which may have influence over the outcome. I have been in correspondence with my MP, the auditors and solicitors for the Fund and now the MEPs. I know it’s a drop in the ocean, but I am ever hopeful that a swell of public opinion will over-ride the oppression from on high, and the truth will come to light.

Clarence Mitchell has also said the Tapas 9 couldn’t keep track of times that evening because they didn’t have watches or mobile phones.
Yet it has been said that G Mccann sent 14 text messages from the Tapas bar that same evening…the kindest interpretation was that he was cheating on the pub quiz.
PS: A few missing regulars this weekend.
Just interested, because of RR’s reported “10 identities” - and the fact that all his access is currently blocked…

He (Clarrie) said: “To say this is a smokescreen is utter rubbish. It is pure co-incidence that police interviews are being conducted at the same time the European Parliament is sitting, and Kate and Gerry are TABLING A MOTION.” My emphasis
[edit - dr] [Do ]you genuinely believe that any of the 728 million population of Europe can just wander into Brussels and TABLE A MOTION. Any more than you , Sir, even as a British citizen can Table a motion in the House of Commons of your own country.
[edit - dr]
But by Thursday we shall all be able to see from the official minutes that the McCanns did no such thing. They are not MEPs. They have no ‘locus standi”. They have simply left Britain for their own reasons. Which we humble mortals cannot even begin to understand.

Can you imgine the amout of lies the police will hear this week?
They must be used to it. It is great they can register everything on recorders and videos.
I would give one million to listen to Jane Tanner, in the same room.
By now I know this story by heart.

Well done!!!
Is there no Agenda for the 10th ? All it says is “Texts put to veto on Thursday, also,
what does “expired” mean against each item. How they can take up such a positive
stance on Amber Alert the way they left their children alone beats me.

READ IT AND WEEP!
The European Parliament is NOT having a discussion about the Amber Alert System on April 9 or 10!
The ONLY thing that MIGHT happen is it being brought up by a member of parliament during the one minute speech!
So they have no business being there(in the audience I presume) at all.
April 6th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
By its ownadmition the british government has allowed renditin (CIA) flights to pass tgrough UK - so lets ‘water board’ the bastards
April 6th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Do you think we could gain information by other techniques - water-boarding - very innocent - sounds like surf-boarding ? I have money - lets kidnap them and take them to a garage !
April 6th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
AS for the Express story being pulled on the internet site because of another more important story, it must have been very quick after publication as the story was unavailable just after midnight. If a story had superceded the Madeleine story it would have been demoted on the story list not pulled in its entirety???????
