KATE and Gerry McCann may risk arrest by returning to Portugal for the one-year anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.
The couple are prepared to take the chance in a last ditch attempt to revive interest in four-year-old Maddie, missing since May 3.

The doctors, both 39, left the Praia da Luz resort last September – 48 hours after being made official suspects over the mystery.

Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “They want to be there for the first anniversary. Going out there would send the strongest possible message that Madeleine could still be alive and the search for her should continue.”

Almost as troublesome was the story’s unforeseen and unintended resemblance to a real-life case of child kidnapping that hit the headlines in the months it was being filmed. That was the disappearance in Portugal last year of British girl Madeleine McCann, who was of a similar age and appearance to the film’s kidnapping victim and had a name eerily similar to the character in the Lehane novel, Amanda McCready.
McCready has disappeared amid the squalor of her south Boston neighbourhood. The police are out in formation, as are the television news vans, antennas raised high, all but trembling for blood.

But as to the McCs visit to Brussels…this looks more and more like an effort to be anywhere the PJ aren’t !! I still cannot understand why - if the PJ are here, the McCs aren’t here also doing anything they possibly can to be on hand to assist….weird

It also show that the PJ has done nothing at all to look for Madeleine with 100 and 100 of agents spread all over the area and further away,looking for her along the coast by boats and flying over with helicopters,dogs

Nobody actually praise them.The media tells the news/facts and we know that a lots of it is distorted,sensational etc….In spain,the journalists dont want to do anything with this bunch of fools.I have not even seen the smallest comment about them going to Brussels nor the PJ going over to the uk.Nothing at all

I wonder, though, if some journalists aren’t a bit tired of them. They will not dare criticise them openly, but I doubt they’ll wholeheartedly go on praising them non stop. If they feel they aren’t allowed to report freely, maybe they will stop reporting at all. (I am not sure though. Newspapers need to make money)

One of the strange things about May 3 is that the McCanns refused an offer for free babysitting for their children for the night of May 3.
It’s on record that a woman staff member from MW was so troubled by talk about the McCann children crying etc that she offered the service.

I am not sure, but I guess they’ll go there, and somewhere in an office, they’ll meet a few people that an MP managed to invite together with them, they’ll all talk for a little while about the Amber Alert System, then Clarrie will take them into another room where he will have invited a number of juournalists. They’ll hold a press conference. Then all the British papers will say they were in Brussels discussing the Amber Alert System with the European Parliament.
