Madeleine McCann: The McCanns’ Return To Portugal, A Year Of Looking And Ben Affleck
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “McCanns risk arrest over visit”
KATE and Gerry McCann may risk arrest by returning to Portugal for the one-year anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.
The couple are prepared to take the chance in a last ditch attempt to revive interest in four-year-old Maddie, missing since May 3.
Any facts?
The doctors, both 39, left the Praia da Luz resort last September – 48 hours after being made official suspects over the mystery.
Gerry and Kate McCann are Doctors. Such are the facts.
Says the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “They want to be there for the first anniversary. Going out there would send the strongest possible message that Madeleine could still be alive and the search for her should continue.”
SYDNEY MORNING HERALD: “Turning the tabloids”
Ben Affleck is Gone Baby Gone:
Almost as troublesome was the story’s unforeseen and unintended resemblance to a real-life case of child kidnapping that hit the headlines in the months it was being filmed. That was the disappearance in Portugal last year of British girl Madeleine McCann, who was of a similar age and appearance to the film’s kidnapping victim and had a name eerily similar to the character in the Lehane novel, Amanda McCready.
McCready has disappeared amid the squalor of her south Boston neighbourhood. The police are out in formation, as are the television news vans, antennas raised high, all but trembling for blood.
Madeleine McCann: That’s entertainment

I’m still waiting for Jo to tell me how Mari-Luz was abducted if she wasn’t out on her own….. didn’t anyone think to tell the parents that she’d been snatched in front of them?
****************
No.Mari Luz was not on her own.
She was with other little girls under age anyhow by any means
At some point, they separated and Mari Luz,the youngest, disappeared. The other gave the alarm when they got back home. There are some other details which I will not comment here.
Small children hardly wander out and about totally on their own but I agree, this is still so f…. careless.
Although, for the sake of it,we can put forward different concepts of childcare within different cultures etc…but it is obvious the spanish govt is taking action not only in regards of child molesters but ALSO against neglect or careless childcare.
Cultural trends must be up dated and the gypsy community, especially,is very aware of it right now.
It is pathetic that a little girl has to die to bring such urgent and necessary changes.

Agenda wide 66:
“I increasingly think politics will decide the next steps in this case.”
Agenda, I have felt this for a very long time. Talk of ‘Could Clarrie be charged with obstruction of justice ?’ - for that matter a great many others as well……..I think there is a huge difference between what would appear glaringly obvious and morally and legally necessary, technically speaking - becomes another story entirely after making due allowance for the secret behind-closed-doors top-level meetings, phone calls, e-mails etc…….I think National interest has been / is being used to pressurise and all the details of this will probably not be known to the McCanns, Clarie or the PJ……fascinating but VERY frustrating and will no doubt get more so……..imho

Yes, I think next week is going to be a fait accompli. There won’t be anymore to-ing and fro-ing with interviews. This is the end game.
———————————————————————————————————
Yes.
I said on here a few days ago ‘bring on the endgame’. I think it’s here.
My guess is that the revised testimonies of the other witnesses will place the McCs in zugzwang, with no advantageous move possible.
What I’d really like to see is a significant move by one parent which brings the other to a more interesting position.
And the day the McCs get separate lawyers (from each other) will be the checkmate for me.

McCannicus Trollicus will become like the dodo - extinct. Extinct as fast as it proliferated. Sort of like a triffid.

Maravilha,
I must agree with you on this one. The fact that JT says she saw “eggmen” is IMO to protect her partner, which could be the one that was carrying the child, maybe to RM’s villa? Just speculating.

Good luck with the school holidays noseycow - mine have been off for the last two weeks and don’t go back to school till Wednesday. I now fondly refer to them as Testosterone Boy and The Oestrogen Kid. Nature has a cruel sense of humour to drench them in hormones, just as my levels are plummeting almost as low as my backside and embonpoint.

Yes still missing, but the material on the show was comprehensive and included NASA enhanced CCTV footage of the abductor. Like I said to coolandcalm, this set of parents were so far removed and the mother couldn’t control herself from not crying.

Any takes on my earlier question, apart from the girlies that wanna see my naked body runnin round the office?

No. But they are still actively searching for her. Chalk and cheese. It was nice to see people doing exactly what it says on the tin instead of talking the talk….like the McCanns.

Stevo said that the McCanns had been on holidays recently, as well as Alex W. Is it true? I don’t know.

The McCanns were in Washington DC 2 weeks ago - read Gerry McCann’s blog.
As for Alex Woolfall, here’s the email I got from him:
I am on holiday overseas from 18th of March and will return to the office on Thursday 27th March. If you require urgent assistance, please dial 0207 861 2560 and ask to speak to David Wilson or James Thomlinson.
