Madeleine McCann: Anjos Calls Mitchell A Liar And Madeleine One Year On: Campaign For Change
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “Cop: McCanns’ spokesman ‘lies’”
Carlos Anjos, president of Portugal’s Police Federation, says of Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “He lies with as many teeth as he has in his mouth.”
The accused the former BBC man of leaking police statements Kate and Gerry made within hours of Maddie disappearing last May. These were aired on Spanish TV last week. Anjos said the aim was to give the McCanns an excuse not to attend a reconstruction.
Says Mr Mitchell: “It is categorically untrue that I leaked them. There was absolutely no benefit for us to do that.”
THE TIMES: Andrew Billen on TV:
“It was going to be called Madeleine McCann, but now ITV1’s exclusive, has a longer name: Madeleine, One Year On: Campaign for Change. The programme will follow her parents as they campaign for an American-style Amber Alert system, in which law enforcement agencies are empowered to commandeer airtime when a child goes missing. Ah, lack of television coverage. That must have been the problem.”
Indeed.

I can see that you have some admiration for Penny Mellor. I was considering if familiarity with this case may have provided the germ of the abduction idea
in an abuse context. But then again I don’t really ‘do’ speculation
———————–
I’m not sure about admiration.
Respect is probably a better term; a total absence of whinging and no claims to being a victim.
I don’t think you would need anything other than the massive number of ‘thrillers’ written about paedophile serial killers to entertain the idea of a faked abduction…

Im wondering why you say things like ‘they just want their child back’ yet they have never made such a simple honest and straightforward statement themselves.
You speak for them as if you know what they are thinking.
If they ‘just want their child back’ then why dont they clear up the misunderstandings that have innocent explanations by popping across to Portugal and working through the events of May 3rd with the police and their lawyers?

Donald Rumsfeld?
“Now, the truth be told, I’ve been around so long that I also knew Jimmy Doolittle. (Light laughter.) I had several opportunities to visit with him. My recollection is it was out at Bohemian Grove, where he would attend periodically, and we’d pass and visit. He was always so interested. So I do thank you for this fine award which bears his distinguished name.”
This has to be a spoof…

WTF
I think that being ignored would finish them off. How about a worldwide petition to send them to coventry? Apart from the PJ of course.

I have seen that sort of wording before; I can recall a bit of discussion last year on the whole question.
It’s a Catch 22 for the PJ; if they don’t follow up so called psychic leads Clarrie complains that they are not trying to find Madeleine, and if they do follow up psychic leads Clarrie complains that they are wasting their time when they should be trying to find
**************
They are never happy with anything Chenier. The only feeling they can express is rage and whinning seems to be a normal way of formulate their thoughts.
Clarrie is their “mouth”,their spin doctor.
They form a perfect trio of mentally unstable people:they complete each other
By the way,he has been rather silent since the PJ slam down on him

Kate and Gerry going to visit a town where there is a base for the same pharmaceutical company connected with gerry, days after her disappearance
————————-
Be reasonable.
All doctors have connections of some sorts to pharmaceutical companies, and pharmaceutical companies have bases all over the place.
The question is, what exactly are those connections.
I’m a great deal more worried by the two articles in this weeks JAMA about the Vioxx trials than I am about Gerry’s relationship with one or more pharmaceutical companies…

The McCann’s should be made accountable in a court of law, for neglecting their children, that I agree with 100%. But to insinuate that they had anything to do with the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine is in my opinion , wrong. Presumed innocent until proved guilty.
——————————————————————————–
I have spent the last week & a half in court as a member of the jury.
The case I was on was obvious to me (& others) that they were as guilty as hell. BUT the evidence, or lack of it, did not make me feel ”fair” in saying that they were guilty.
Believe me it is not an easy task. Once you start deliberating you (the jury) are literally locked away! Prisoners. Lunch delivered. A buzzer to call for needs.
After 11 hours of deliberation the judge (finally) accepted our decision.
Yes it will be a re trial at huge expense but the point is it will be fair. Nobody gave up just to home or not be bothered. We tried everything to get to a 10-2 majority.
However my point with this little epistle is..,.,with all the evidence which seems very apparent in this forthcoming case I don’t think I would have a problem with my verdict.Nor do I believe would my fellow jurors.
Just wish we had had so much to go on!! So much evidence!!! Yeah.
Oh well back tomorrow!
Oh & for those that haven’t done jury service yet don’t think they just let you off after 1 case. Oh no!! You are there for the 2 weeks!
Maybe we should have deliberated longer…….??
(And it’s knackering!!)
Nite nite

I know chenier, you can’t win with them.
But if it was me, and my child missing, i would have tried the best of the best. Psychics have had a lot of success, despite what other posters were saying earlier. Of course there are fakes and con men, but there are a few out there with a real gift for this sort of thing
