Madeleine McCann: Anjos Calls Mitchell A Liar And Madeleine One Year On: Campaign For Change
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE SUN: “Cop: McCanns’ spokesman ‘lies’”
Carlos Anjos, president of Portugal’s Police Federation, says of Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “He lies with as many teeth as he has in his mouth.”
The accused the former BBC man of leaking police statements Kate and Gerry made within hours of Maddie disappearing last May. These were aired on Spanish TV last week. Anjos said the aim was to give the McCanns an excuse not to attend a reconstruction.
Says Mr Mitchell: “It is categorically untrue that I leaked them. There was absolutely no benefit for us to do that.”
THE TIMES: Andrew Billen on TV:
“It was going to be called Madeleine McCann, but now ITV1’s exclusive, has a longer name: Madeleine, One Year On: Campaign for Change. The programme will follow her parents as they campaign for an American-style Amber Alert system, in which law enforcement agencies are empowered to commandeer airtime when a child goes missing. Ah, lack of television coverage. That must have been the problem.”
Indeed.

Yesterday, Carlos Anjos got really ennoyed this is what he said :
“For Carlos Anjos, “the one who produced a scheme was the Clarence Mitchell. He needed to get an excuse to announce that the couple wouldn’t be in the re-enactment, saying now that he does not trust the PJ “. The ASFIC is available to give legal support to the investigators who feel targeted by Mitchell’s declarations and want to take legal action”
They are considering to take action because the PJ really had enough.

That is still more romantic as it includes a love story!
I read something though, about how people don’t meet their spouses randomly. Most often, they have some background in common. The same type of people meet in the same places, or something similar. (I hope I am not disappointing you, Daisy).

Thanks brandon….but it was the one of his arrival at the Station I meant.
The one where it showed that J McGuinness didn’t seem to want to be within
100 miles of him.

“Looks like the MCs will soon apply for US citizenship. They’d better think twice, the American law isn’t lenient as regards neglecting children”
I doubt this is going to happen.
The only thing they will apply to,is mental illness to avoid jail :K”s “fragile state” is a prelude to charges possibly being brought forward and a consequent “preparation”of the public opinion becuase they seem to live by those standards, nowadays.
K was not “fragile” when they express their wishes to go back to portugal to be “close” to Madeleine.
I thought she poor little girl had been seen all over the world
Nothing makes sense and the investigation is going to give its results soon enough….”whoever might be hurt”

Well…Clarence is forever moaning about hurtful things re his “clients”.
Another play on puns perhaps.

Afternoon everyone.
Someone in another forum is saying that SIC News in Portugal have confirmed that the PJ will take the offer from the Police Officers’ Union (made yesterday by Carlos Anjos) and will sue Clarence Mitchell.
Allegedly, the statements reproduced by Spanish TV are not even a segment of K&G’s statement delivered to the PJ. Therefore they are not subject to secrecy… in other words… these statements were not “leaked” by the PJ.
Has anyone heard anything about it? I don’t believe it.
I find it very unlikely that the PJ would sue anyone. THat’s just not the way they work as an institution. From my knowledge of the force they’ll all be focusing on answering Mitchell by serving justice for Madeleine. Actions can be worth a thousand words…
Any information on this from anyone?

I think if ever the MCs had to serve time in a Portuguese jail, they would get the VIP treatment, for them not to be ill treated by other detainees who are sometimes very tough with people like them. Then, very soon, there would be an agreement with GB for them to serve their time in a British jail, so that their family can visit them. The sentence might soon be turned into something else than jailtime. They have their twins to take care of, and justice doesn’t send both parents to jail when there are children to bring up. Only if it was proved they had willingly harmed the missing girl would they get a heavy sentence, IMO.
I still remember one of the Portuguese investigators saying maybe they wouldn’t deserve a jail sentence under the Portuguese law. We don’t know yet if charges will be pressed, what charges, and what the outcome of a trial would be.

No arguments, thanks!
About that article, what intrigues me most is:
“The investigation will bring its results, whoever they hurt.”
I wonder who they mean with “whoever they hurt” ….
