THE SUN: “Cop: McCanns’ spokesman ‘lies’”
Carlos Anjos, president of Portugal’s Police Federation, says of Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman: “He lies with as many teeth as he has in his mouth.”
The accused the former BBC man of leaking police statements Kate and Gerry made within hours of Maddie disappearing last May. These were aired on Spanish TV last week. Anjos said the aim was to give the McCanns an excuse not to attend a reconstruction.
Says Mr Mitchell: “It is categorically untrue that I leaked them. There was absolutely no benefit for us to do that.”
THE TIMES: Andrew Billen on TV:
“It was going to be called Madeleine McCann, but now ITV1’s exclusive, has a longer name: Madeleine, One Year On: Campaign for Change. The programme will follow her parents as they campaign for an American-style Amber Alert system, in which law enforcement agencies are empowered to commandeer airtime when a child goes missing. Ah, lack of television coverage. That must have been the problem.”

March 23, 2006 _ Ana Rosa has taken a nasty habit: To start her program with negative news. The worst. Domestic violence, horrible crimes, you know what I mean … Every morning she is accompanied by an individual (description of a not so pleasantly looking person). His name is Nacho Abad, he wears pin-strip suits, speaks about death with such passion as if he was a mortician and speaks about pain with the enthusiasm of a chicken killer.
Nacho Abda is to Ana Rosa like the crow is to Poe: an ebony bird that converts his sad fantasies into a smile. Because, lets face it, to start a program with a good murder, a horrible beating or the story of a woman stabbed by her partner, guarantees success. Even the news reports do it … a TV analyst would say that it is a classic strategy, based on the ominous adaptation of the theory of expectation and pull(?). Therefore, to start with something so powerful that will help capture the audience’s interest before the actual program has even started and to fix the attention of the viewer for the duration of the transmission. (some slang words)
A TV analyst can say what he/she wants, but for me the use of all this negative stories, full of suffering and violence, is repulsive. “Stabbed on the side” said yesterday the Bird before submerging himself in the usual pool of blood, inappropriate words and tripping over grammar. A shame.
But I fear that neither the analyst, nor the crow, nor the one that feeds the crow, will fly away and let us live in peace. They will remain perched forever in our screens, and as Poe would have said, our souls, from the depth of the shadow that floats over our screen, the will not be freed … Never Ever!

578 Ian - I’m not sure the crying episode is all that relevant. I don’t know who / if anyone cried on the 2nd May.
IMO the most relevant bit of this farce is that allegedly…unlike the claims by the Spanish journalist…Kate McCann did not say anything about Madeleine crying to the PJ.
What seems to be clearer now is that as a result of the interviews
- Jane Tanner U-turned on the abductor sighting
- None of the tapas gang - indeed nobody except Kate & Gerry - have confirmed to have seen Madeleine on the 3rd May during the day…
This is what Clarence Mitchell - with the precious help of those monsters of independent reporting known as the great british media - are trying to hide from the public. In the hope that it will in any way have any bearing in the final outcome of this sad story.

Which reminds me; does anyone know what happened in the case of the seven year old girl who died riding her quad bike?
The most recent report I can find is from Reuters in January:
‘A man was arrested on Thursday in connection with the death of a girl killed when her quad bike was in collision with a car on Boxing Day, police said.
The 46-year-old man, from the Brentwood area of Essex, was detained and bailed to a date later this month pending further inquiries, an Essex Police spokesman said.
The man was not named and no further details were given.
Schoolgirl Elizabeth Cooke was riding a quadbike behind her father’s car near their home in Blackmore, Essex, when the accident happened on a country lane.
The girl died in hospital. A post-mortem examination found that she had died from multiple injuries.
The 28-year-old driver of the Range Rover was arrested and later released without charge.
Her parents described her as a “beautiful princess who was perfect in every way”.

Well, we now know it wasnt a police leak dont we! I hardly think that such statements can be made regarding the approach to child care employed by the McCanns anyway, they clearly dont see anything wrong with leaving a child yet again after she has told them it upset her.
